Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong (UNIMUGO) held its 28th Anniversary Commemoration on Wednesday (10/08). It was located in UNIMUGO Auditorium in Gombong, Kebumen, Central Java. In the commemoration, the Daily Advisory Board (BPH) UNIMUGO, Ir H M Yahya Fuad SE; Muhammadiyah Local Board of Gombong, Widiantoro Triatmaji MM; UNIMUGO staff, and several guests from School Headmasters who accompanied their students receiving awards.

On this occasion, the Committee Chief, H Hilmy N. Ikhsan highly appreciated all academic civitas’ contributions. “We highly appreciate the Rector, the Vice-Rectors, and educational personnel who guided us. We are grateful to all committees from students who contribute to the concept and time so it can be organized without any obstacles,” he said. On the 28th commemoration, UNIMUGO also held various competitions, including an essay contest, art fair, futsal competition, speech contest, and photography. “I hope that the competition can introduce UNIMUGO to high school/vocational school,” he said.

Furthermore, the Daily Advisory Board, Ir H M Yahya Fuad SE mentioned that Unimugo’s achievement is remarkable. “We deeply appreciate all  founding fathers of our university. For 28 years which is relatively young, we already have 1,500 students. I hope Unimugo is advantageous to broader community and progress,” he said.

On this occasion, the Rector through the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Isma Yuniar, M.Kep expressed her gratitude. She also appreciated the Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) for the guidance in the good governance of the higher education institutions.

“UNIMUGO was first established as the Academy Nursery School (Akper) in 1994, then it transformed in 2003 to be Advanced School of Health Science (STIKes). In 2021, it transformed into a University with additional faculty establishment. In the first years’ establishment, we concentrated on health science, but currently, we added the Faculty of Science and Humanities,” she said.
