To encourage the implementation of the educational curriculum, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) collaborated with Principal Consultative Work (MKKS) of Banyumas Secondary Schools to organize the National Seminar on Education Development. The seminar that raised the theme “The Implementation of Independent Curriculum and 21st Century Transformation” was opened directly by the Rector of UMP, Dr Jebul Suroso. He was accompanied by the Director of the Master Program, Dr Furqanul Aziez, located in Ukhuwah Islamiyah Auditorium, Tuesday (12/04).
The seminar invited various expert speakers, including Dr Sriyanto, MPd, the Head of Social Science Education department of UMP, and Sri Hartati, SPd, MPd, the Institute of Educational Quality Assurance (LPMP) Central Java. “I think we have already become a big family: management, actors, educators, especially in Banyumas. I also believe in our seniors from UMP, and perhaps from the UMP Alumni,” said Dr Jebul Suroso, the Rector of UMP, in his remarks.
The Chairman of MKKS Banyumas, Suharyanto, MPd explained that schools should motivate children to study, physically and mentally to regain their motivation to study. “It is an uneasy job, so we need to synergize with various stakeholders,” said Suharyanto, in a statement.
Dr Sriyanto also agreed with the Chairman of MKKS. He also said that the implementation of the independent curriculum is closely related to the 2013 curriculum evaluation result and the educational condition in Indonesia due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, it significantly affected education, especially, the children experienced learning loss,” he said. The seminar was followed by all Principals in Banyumas Secondary School and their representatives, 559 in total. [] CHERD
