Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) Student becomes 2022 GenRe Ambassador of Yogyakarta on Sunday (27/03). The selection of Genre Ambassador was conducted in Sahid Raya Hotel. Sixty participants who were high school and college students followed the training. Ten selected participants were chosen as coupled participants in GenRe Ambassador crowned as 2022 GenRe Ambassador of Yogyakarta. Of ten participants, Sukardi, an Accounting Student of UMY, became one of them.
Sukardi was grateful for the achievement he had accomplished. “Alhamdulillah, I am glad and grateful for this achievement. I will do my best in carrying this mandate,” said Sukardi, as reported on the UMY site. The GenRe or Generasi Berencana (well-planned youth) is a program initiated by the National Population and Family Planning Board to prepare the young generation for a future career, education, and positive insights into reproductive health, family planning, and teenage problems. Meanwhile, the GenRe Ambassador would serve as a motivator and influencer for the young generation. “Moreover, we will have roles in delivering insights to the youth in reproductive health,” he said.
Afterwards, for the implementation, Sukardi intended to establish the Student Information and Counseling Center (PIK M) in UMY. “I hope I can establish PIK M in UMY that was previously limited to the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. So, I will introduce PIK M to all students in the university,” said Sukardi.
Furthermore, Sukardi would also educate youth about HIV and drug abuse. He assumed that the lack of understanding of drug safety knowledge led teenagers into using illegal substances.
