STIE Muhammadiyah Cilacap Celebrates 29th Campus Anniversary

Economics Science College (STIE) Muhammadiyah Cilacap commemorated its 29th anniversary. The commemoration that raised the theme “Proclaim to be Productive, Creative, and Inspirative Young Generation” was held on Sunday (07/08). The celebration included Fun Walk, Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) expo, providing scholarships, donations for orphans and underprivileged persons, and STIE Muhammadiyah Cilacap ’s Got Talent.

The Head of STIE Muhammadiyah Cilacap started the commemoration by releasing balloons. Afterward, the high school students in Cilacap and academic civitas of STIEM Cilacap gathered to walk. After the participants arrived at STIEM, the official opening ceremony was held by reciting the Qur’an, singing Indonesia Raya and Sang Surya by the Gema Sang Surya choir of STIEM Cilacap. On this occasion, the Head of STIEM Cilacap, Tri Nurindahyanti Yulian, SE, M.Si.Ak; the Head of Daily Advisory Board (BPH), Drs. H. Kholis Sosiawanto; the Cilacap Regent that represented by the Agency for Regional Development (BAPPEDA); and Muhammadiyah Regional Board of Cilacap (PDM), Arief Romdlon, SH, MH attended the ceremony.

In the opening ceremony, STIEM Cilacap provided an educational scholarship for tuition fees by Tri Nurindahyanti Yulian SE, M.Si.Ak to three high school students. They included Khamidatul Auliya, SIlvia Kurniawan Febriani, and Samsudin Edo Saputra. Then, it continued with the disbursement of orphan and underprivileged persons by BPH STIEM Cilacap, Drs H Kholis Sosiawanto, and PDM Cilacap, Arief Romdlon, SH, MH.

IKesT Muh Palembang Roles in AFF U-18 Women’s Championship 2022

The Institute of Health and Technology Science (IKesT) Muhammadiyah Palembang contributed to sending several medical volunteers in ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-18 Women’s Championship 2022. The volunteer program involved IKesT Muh Palembang students in AFF U-18 Women’s Championship 2022 in Jakabaring Stadium as the Training Team of Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital from 22 July to 4 August 2022.

At the handover ceremony, Ftr Ryan Hidayatullah SFis AIFO, Siloam Hospital Management, appreciated the IKesT Muh Palembang’s participation. “I hope in the future, (IKesT Muh Palembang) will support other International events,” he said, as reported on the official IKesT Muhammadiyah Palembang site. The students who have worked for 10 days have maintained discipline, including refreshment, training, and emergency. “We appreciate IKesT Muh Palembang for proving that the graduates were able to contribute to international events,” he said.

The Rector of IKesT Muhammadiyah Palembang, Heri Shatriadi CP MKep expressed his gratitude for all delegation attendance. “We are grateful and appreciative to Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital representatives who are also IKesT M Palembang alumni in the Physiotherapy department. Thank you for involving IKesT M Palembang as the Training Team,” he said.

During the volunteering period, the students introduced IKesT M Palembang in an international program. It was expected it could improve the accreditation status of the Physiotherapy department.

UM Palu Honors 427 Graduates in New Auditorium Building

Universitas Muhammadiyah Palu (UM Palu) organized an Open Senate Meeting in conducting the on-site 52nd Commencement for Bachelor and Postgraduate program on Saturday (06/08) located in the new auditorium building.

The Rector, Prof Dr Rajindra congratulated the graduates and expected they would able to contribute to local and national development.

“Congratulations to all graduates and parents who supported their children until they graduated. On behalf of the Unismuh Palu families, we congratulate and appreciate the graduates for their achievement in Unismuh Palu,” he said.

On this occasion, the Head of Higher Education Service Institutes (LLDIkti) Regional 16 (Gorontalo, Southeast Sulawesi, and North Sulawesi), Munawwir Azali, M.A. mentioned that Unismuh Palu would be able to compete in the national and global employment market or become entrepreneurs to create new employment, maintain the institution’s good name and harmonious relationship with academic civitas of Unismuh Palu.

“Never stop learning because it is a struggle in life and always do the worshiping practices,” said Munawwir who is also an Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai lecturer. The 2022 Commencement was followed by 427 graduates from bachelor and postgraduate programs.

The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research and Development (CHERD), Prof H Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc, Ph.D., directly congratulated the graduates and their parents for their achievement. “You all have graduated. The knowledge that you have learned from campus will be your preparation to face work life,” he said.

The graduation procession was only followed by the graduates, without their parents’ companions. It is Unismuh Palu’s policy to Covid-related restrictions to apply the health protocols.

UAD Workshop To Emphasize Research Roadmap Urgency

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) conducted a workshop on Tuesday (02/08). The workshop was held by the Guidance and Counseling department (BK). It was located in Jayakarta Hotel, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta. It aimed to strengthen the structures of research topics in the future for the BK lecturers.

Irvan Budhi Handaka, M.Pd, the Head of BK UAD appreciated all parties who attended the workshop. “The workshop becomes a medium to determine and emphasize the research roadmap from the study program and lecturers,” he said.

On this occasion, there were two main agendas in the workshop. First, material presentations from two speakers, Dr. Ilfiandra, MPd and Hany Yulindrasari, S.PSi., M.Gendst, Ph.D. Ilfiandra mentioned the urgency of the roadmap in referring to the comprehensive guidance and counseling from the United States, including management system, accountability, delivery system, and foundation.

Meanwhile, Hany, the second speaker, explained the determination of roadmap arrangement for the lecturers’ research. “The roadmap will help the lecturers focus on the relevant research and have a good impact in increasing functional position, especially for the process of professor title,” she added.

The second agenda was a roadmap arrangement practice led by the Head of Guidance and Counseling department (BK) UAD that referred to the materials presented before. After the workshop, it was expected there would be a follow-up agenda from the lecturers to be more systematic in future research. The workshop was closed while all lecturers documented themselves in pictures.

Prof Widodo Muktiyo: Public Relations Become A Core of MHEIs’ Life

“The public relations workshop and professional training have been planned by Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD). Alhamdulillah, the workshop goes as planned under the total support from the Association of Communication Science Department (APIK)”. That was a statement from Prof Widodo Muktiyo at the opening of the Public Relation Workshop of Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) in Second Batch on Grand Rohan Hotel, Yogyakarta, Thursday (04/08).

The Member of Muhammadiyah CHERD continued by mentioning public relations (PR) are the core element in higher education institutions functioning in communication management. “When our organization is weak, PR should transform the situation rapidly. This profession will have roles as supporting persons of the leaders. Because the basic requirement to lead is in communication,” he added.

In front of 40 participants, he admitted that the role of PR should be to develop, raise, and synergize in MHEIs’ improvement. PR need to understand the current challenges faced in PR. “When you consider yourself good enough and comfortable, it means you are dead,” he highlighted. PR could be considered a success when they build awareness of the importance of public relations and academic personal branding. “The minimum standard is when the public relations department that you lead can be a locomotive in the core element in your institutions,” he said. He also expected that APIK could share the recommendation from all participants in each batch with Muhammadiyah CHERD to encourage public relations. “In this era, PR can not be empty, but it should follow the rapid development of science and technology,” he hoped, in the workshop ended on Saturday (06/08).

The Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar held a guest lecture on Tuesday (02/03). The lecture that raised the theme “Women, Leadership, and the Integration on Entrepreneurship ” on the fifth floor of the Iqra Building. On this occasion, the Vice Rector I of Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Abd Rakhim Nanda attended. He was accompanied by Lesley Robinson, Founding Director of KS Weli, the University of Texas in Austin, the United States; and Nurlaela Jum, the Director of Bolasugi School.

Abd Rakhim Nanda appreciated FISIP Unismuh which organized the guest lecture program. He also expressed his gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Department of the United States, KS WELI University of Texas, YSEALI, Women Collaboration Forum, and LPBKUI Unismuh Makassar that supported the program. “For this year, Unismuh Makassar was granted the national achievement in Student Entrepreneurship. It is evident that we support this area,” he said in a statement.

He also invited all participants to emphasize and provide inclusivity in leadership. Over the years, said Abd Rakhim, women have built various big steps as leaders in education. “In Unismuh Makassar, the amount of women’s leadership is now in balance. It also creates a dynamic situation to move forward to empower communities and humanities,” he added.

Furthermore, Dr. Ihyani Malik, the Dean of FISIP Unismuh Makassar, highlighted the purpose of the program which aimed to support the internalization program. “It is our effort to strengthen the networks to support internalization programs. We expected that it could be followed-up with student exchanges, collaborative research, and entrepreneurship and women leadership assistance programs,” she said.

The guest lecture was also attended by the vice-deans, department leaders, lecturers, education personnel, and students from the international class in FISIP UM Makassar.

RisetMu, the Muhammadiyah Research Grants program, reopened the registration for its sixth batch in 2022. It is opened with five different research schemes and one community service scheme. The scheme includes Basic Research, Applied Research, Developmental Research,  Research Collaboration, Scientific Manuscript for Publication, and Community Service. Please note that the fund research assistants are adjusted to the specific scheme. The RisetMu Research Grants are open for all lectures in Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs).

National Meeting of Financial Affairs: MHEI Synergy To Support Institutional Improvement

Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) held National Coordination Meeting for Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) on Financial Affairs, Asset, and Human Resources located in Prime Plaza Hotel, Sanur Bali, Tuesday-Thursday (02-04/08).

By raising the theme “The Policy in Finance, Asset, and Human Resource Management for Excellent, Competitive, and Progressive Institutions”, the meeting is followed by 300 participants from all MHEIs in Indonesia. The national meeting in the end of period of CHERD is held as the collaboration of three institutions, including Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (Unismuh Makassar), Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember (UM Jember), and ITBM Bali.

As a host, Prof. Dr. H. Ambo Asse, M.Ag., the Rector of Unismuh Makassar mentioned that Financial Affairs becomes the main support of Higher Education Institutions. A good financial system could improve financial management in MHEIs, especially the new and developing MHEIs. “The current national meeting is expected to produce policies in supporting and raising the MHEIs’ spirit to develop Muhammadiyah organization,” he said, in front of the Daily Advisory Boards, Institutional leaders, Rectors, Directors, Chairman, and the Vice Chancellor for Financial Affairs, Asset, and Human Resource.

In establishing higher education institutions, the capability to manage Financial Affairs, Assets, and Human resources become an important ability to possess according to Prof. Lincolin Arsyad, M.Sc., Ph.D. In his remarks, the Chairman of CHERD mentioned that the leaders’ lack of ability to manage three essential aspects could ruin the institutional development. He expected that the Meeting on Financial Affairs could produce inputs in MHEIs’ progression and survival, and assist the developing MHEIs. “The asset and financial management should be conducted effectively and efficiently. The MHEI leaders should expand the other source of income by business unit development, so the campus does not depend merely on student tuition fees,” he said.

In his remarks, the Vice Governor of Bali, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati stated that the National Meeting is good momentum for MHEIs and Bali tourism improvement. “I also expect that MHEIs can produce a good program, exchange thoughts, and improve MHEIs’ quality,” he said.

To conclude, Prof Dr. H Dadang Kahmad, M.Si, Muhammadiyah Central Board delivered his remarks. According to Prof Dadang, the collaboration among MHEIs and the institutional improvement of MHEIs should be highlighted. He also mentioned 7 essential agendas in coordination meetings, first, human resource development is closely related to academic and managerial competencies. Second, an attempt to manage and update the data and create legal enforcement of Muhammadiyah assets. The third is the development model of the financial management information system. Fourth is financial efficiency improvement. Fifth is audit accountability development. Sixth is the sharpening of financial allocation based on Muhammadiyah’s vision and mission. Lastly, the increase in funding from students.

UM Lampung Seminar Discussed Multi Dimensions of Poverty

Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung (UM Lampung) conducted a hybrid seminar on Sunday (31/07). The seminar was a collaborative program from the Faculty of Social and Political Science of UM Lampung to various parties. They were the Alumni Association (IKA), Social Welfare School Association, and Health and Social Polytechnic of Lampung Regional Board. Furthermore, other parties that participated in the seminar were Grab, Baznas of Lampung, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), RRI of Bandar Lampung, BRI of Lampung Regional Board and Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta. The national seminar raised ‘To Overcome The Extreme Multi Dimensions Poverty, The Role of Multi-Stakeholders, and Social Workers’. A thousand participants attended the seminar, and 200 of them joined offline  in KH Ahmad Dahlan Auditorium on the First Campus of UM Lampung.

Furthermore, the Rector of UML, Dr. Mardiana, M.Pd.I, in her remarks expressed her gratitude for the trust from various parties. Especially because it was held in Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung. “Welcome to the Head of Regional Development Planning Agency of Lampung. On this occasion, Mr. Deki directly attends in UML and becomes a keynote speaker in this seminar,” she said.

UM Surakarta Encourages Student To Expand Preaching In Social Media

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UM Surakarta) held a training for Student Preachers of Muhammadiyah (P3M). The training conducted on the campus aimed to prepare students to preach in the Millennial era, Thursday (28/07). Several delegations from UM Surakarta student organizations in cadre and preaching followed the training. They were from Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM); Muhammadiyah Scout (Hizbul Wathan/HW); Muhammadiyah Martial Arts (Tapak Suci/TS); UKM Namlah (Arabic Debate Club); Ar-Rasail Student Press Institute (LPM); Student Qur’anic Community (MPQ); and Campus Preaching Association and Community Service (LDPM-PM).

The training also invited campus mosque volunteers, including Hj Sudalmiyah Rais mosque and Fadlurrahman mosque volunteers. In his remarks, Dr. Mahasri Shobahiya, M.Ag., the Head of Cadre and Preaching Division explained that every prospective student needed to create an action plan and memorize the Quran on juz 30.

“In the pre-workshop, the participants should write a concrete action plan. Also, they should follow the requirement to memorize juz 30 (minimum) to prepare themselves in communities,” said Mahasri, Friday (29/07).

Furthermore, to strengthen the student preachers’ capabilities, the committee invited Azaki Khoirudin, Ibtimes. id founder and Nabhan Mudrik Alyaum S.Geo, the CEO of Ibtimes. id. They shared materials about Millennial preaching and utilizing social media to preach by delivering good content, well worth seeing, and relevant. The participants also could initiate the certification of renting houses nearby.

“So we can implement the rent house certification to ease parents in searching for a suitable rent house and monitoring their children,” said Mahasri.
