Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSME) EXPO of UMY 2021 became a final agenda of the Community Service Program (KKN) that was conducted in 4 days, starting from Saturday (13/02) to Tuesday (16/02). The online agenda was held through Zoom Meeting and Live Streaming Youtube. It presented Dr Gunawan Budiyanto, MP IPM, the Rector of UMY; Drs Teten Masduki, the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises; and H Herry Zudianto, SE, Akt, MM, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Businessmen/women Network as resource persons of the talk show.
According to Dr Aris Slamet Widodo, SP, MSc, the Head of Community Service Program Division, the Institute for Research, Publication, and Community Service (LP3M) UMY, the expo with the theme “The Local Creativity towards Global Market” aimed to motivate the MSME owners to elevate the competence, starting to packaging to marketing. “We expect that the expo will increase the marketing as a promotion. Also, it could enlarge the business network because it was followed by a hundred MSME owners in Yogyakarta and Central Java. The expo also became a good and exact place to gather among MSME owners,” he added.
On the same occasion, in his remarks, the Rector of UMY, Dr Gunawan Budiyanto, MP, IPM, explained that the MSME owners fought for economic problems, even in the worst condition as in 1998 when it was a monetary crisis. “UMY students keep struggling to conduct a service program amid the pandemic; it becomes a prideful achievement. Also, let us demonstrate to the nations that MSME owners can highly contribute to the country,” said Gunawan.
