Universitas Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin (UM Banjarmasin) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Thursday (07/07). The second party from the MoU was Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PDM) Kapuas and the Kapuas Education Office. Located in Adijani Al Alabij Hall at the main campus of UM Banjarmasin, the agreement included the implementation of Higher Education Institution Tridharma. This implementation involved student enrolment, alumni allocation in the working world, and the other agreement points.
The Head of Kapuas Education Office, Dr H Suwarno Muriyat SAg MPd, wholly welcomed the agreement because it was in line with Kapuas Local Government’s commitment to improving human quality, in his remarks. “It is also, specifically, to be mandated as in the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology programs,” he said, as reported on the official site.
In his remarks, Suwarno also mentioned four targets of Kapuas Government, especially in education, through a “Great Education, Smart Kapuas” program. The targets include improving graduate quality, elevating educators and staff professionalism, increasing stakeholder involvement, and implementing the local wisdom-based curriculum.
Prof Ahmad Khairuddin, the Rector of UM Banjarmasin, in his speech, also appreciated the agreement between UM Banjarmasin, PDM, and Kapuas Education Office. In his opinion, it is the university’s effort to extend access and establish its vision for being the foremost, top, professional, progressive Islamic university in Kalimantan in 2025.
