UM Metro Student Bags 2 Medals in 6th Kartini International Archery Championship

Primananda Arief Aulianto, a student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro), has won international achievement at the 6th Kartini International Archery Championship 2023, which took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Senayan (GBK) archery field on March 2-5, 2023.

Nanda, as he is commonly called, won a gold medal for the first qualification session in the compound men’s category and a silver medal for the compound men’s elimination category. Nanda explained that to win the medals, he had to compete against various domestic and foreign athletes, including those from Malaysia.

“Nanda participated in the International Kartini at GBK Senayan. Alhamdulillah, we won 1st and 2nd place. Incidentally, my opponent was from Malaysia,” wrote Nanda via WhatsApp on Monday (6/3). According to him, this competition is a preparation event for the upcoming National Sports Week (PON). “It is a preparation for the pre-PON selection,” he added.

This international championship was organized by the Central Board of Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) and was attended by hundreds of athletes from three countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The Rector of UM Metro, Drs. H. Jazim Ahmad, M.Pd., expressed his pride in having students who excel at the international level. “Of course, we are very proud of the news about our student , Primananda Arief Aulianto. We always support our students in participating in various types of competitions. One form of our appreciation is by providing scholarships of tuition fee deductions or cash,” he said.
