Halal Center of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) held the Assistance Training of Halal Product Process (PPH) online, Tuesday-Thursday (17-19/05). The training attended by 128 participants aimed to produce PPH assistance to ease the owners of Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) to ask for halal certification through self-declaration. “By conducting an assistance training for PPH, the PPH assistance would verify and validate the proposal of MSME owners to ask for halal certification through self-declaration,” said the Chairman of Halal Center, UMP, Dr apt Diniatik, M Sc.
The training consisted of various activities, including the required materials, post-test, and practices. “Alhamdulillah, from this implementation, we have created 75 PPH assistants that support MSME in receiving halal certification through self-declaration,” Diniatik added. She expected Halal Center could support halal certification submission for the business owners. Self-declaration is also useful for demonstrating the real benefit for MSME.
According to her, the halal certification is important to help the business owners and communities to separate halal and non-halal food products. “If the business owners understand and ask for halal certification, it will be more convincing. Therefore, the halal certification is very essential to the broader communities to separate halal and non-halal products,” she continued.
In the opening session, the Rector of UMP, Dr. Jebul Suroso; the Vice-Rector IV, Dr. Anwar Ma’ruf; and the Head of Development and Monitoring Center of Halal Product Assurance Boards (BPJPH), Dr. Hj A Umar attended the meeting online. [] CHERD / UMP
