Universitas Muhammadiyah Maluku (UNIMMA) is officially established as in the issuance of the Decree from the Minister of Education and Culture Number 1189/M/2020, Monday (08/01). The establishment of UNIMMA improved the number of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA), which became 165 institutions all over Indonesia.
In response to the establishment, Muhammad Sayuti, as Secretary of Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council, appreciated the issuance of the Ministerial Decree, which has been worked on since 2017. “It becomes evident that the issue of Muhammadiyah can easily get the issuance of institutional permits is not true. Because of the process we went through the same as the others, as an example, UNIMMA went through approximately four years for the permit,” he explained.
He continued, UNIMMA establishment is due to the efforts and the collaboration of Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council and Muhammadiyah Regional Board. “It has to be a parameter of how important the organisation’s strengthening is in the regional and below levels. The university establishment is also influenced by organizational management,” he said.
In the end, he hoped UNIMMA could catch up with the other PTMAs. Additionally, it can make progress and become an inclusive campus based on the Ambon community in multicultural and multi-religious conditions “InsyaAllah, Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang Council will always be ready to assist,” he concluded.
