Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah (UNIMUDA) Sorong has achieved the best university among Public and Private Universities in West Papua, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Nusa Tenggara through UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2021. The UI GreenMetric 2021 assessment was based on three pillars, including environment, economics, and social with Campus Condition and Infrastructure (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste Management (18%), Water Consumption (10%), Transportation (18%), and Education and Research (18%) indicator.
UNIMUDA Sorong gained a total score of 5.425 points with the highest score in Energy and Climate Change with 1.100 points. Then, it was followed by the Campus Condition and Infrastructure with 1.050 points. The result placed UNIMUDA Sorong as the 498th rank in the world, 47th position nationally, and the first place in East Indonesia from all Higher Education Institutions that participated in the UI GreenMetric 2021 rank.
The Rector of UNIMUDA Sorong, Dr Rustamadji, M.Si explained that what UNIMUDA achieved reflected on the future prediction. The concern and attention towards the environment could predict the following situation ahead. “UI GreenMetric is an institution to rank universities for their focus on environmental issues. UNIMUDA Sorong also has a positive response to follow the programs assessed by the institution,” he said on Tuesday (12/21).
UI GreenMetric is an innovation from Universitas Indonesia (UI) as a well-known ranking institution based on a high commitment to environmental management in campus life. UI GreenMetric of World Universities, currently, has been followed by various universities in the world.
