Seven UM Palangkaraya students won achievements in two different competitions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The first competition was the Muhammadiyah Student Competition (KMM) and the Muhammadiyah Student Creativity Program (PKMM) organized by the Association for Science and Technology of Muhammadiyah Higher Education. The second competition was the Speech Contest organized by the Indonesian Genre of Palangka Raya City.
Sellin Falentino and Romi Pratama won 1st Place in the Business Plan Category entitled Maggot as a Food Source of Animal Husbandry in COVID-19 Era. “Maggot is an insect that can decompose organic waste well so that the use of maggot will provide multiple benefits such as reducing organic waste and being useful as a food source,” said Muh. Azhari, MSi as the supervisor for these two Environmental Engineering students.
Meanwhile, in the efficient MSME machine category, M. Nur Husfin, Al Furkan, and Ilham Sri Suncoro won 2nd Place. “The idea entitled Hammer Spring Design hopefully can be an effective innovation for MSMEs,” said Norseta Ajie Saputra, MT as the advisor. Rida Respati, M.T, as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (FTI), also appreciated the achievements. “I hope our five students’ achievement can be motivation-driven for all other UM Palangkaraya students, especially FTI students, to keep the Faculty and the University proud,” he said Wednesday (4/11).
In addition, UM Palangkaraya also made achievements in the Speech competition organized by the Indonesian Genre of Palangkaraya City. Through the theme “Quality Planning Generation Welcoming the Golden Generation of 2045,” Indah Raudatul Jannah won 1st Place while Hutri Maulida won 3rd Place.
In the end, the Rector of UM Palangkaraya, Dr. Sonedi MPd appreciated the achievements and advised students not to be complacent and stay focused on other potential achievements. “It proves that the UM Palangkaraya campus is excellent in getting achievements, especially student achievements,” he said.
