In Jogjakarta Communication Conference, Various Academicians from Five Countries Discussed Communication Study in Digital Era

The Association of Communication Sciences in Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (APIK PTMA) held a communication study forum in digital era. This study was conducted through an academic conference entitled Jogjakarta Communication Conference (JCC), Friday (24/02). It was the fourth conference held during the five years of JCC.

This international conference invited speakers from various countries. In the main session, Assoc. Prof. Dr Bahiyah Omar (Universiti Sains Malaysia), Prof. Ju Zou, Ph.D (Nanjing Normal University, China) Dr. Kirti Dang-Longani (Ajeenkya DY Patil University, India) Dr. Heba Ahmed Awad Goda (Arab Open University, Egypt), led by the moderator, Frizki Yulianti Nurnisya, Ph.D (Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta).

“The international conference is one of the tangible forms of scientific contribution in overcoming academic challenges in the digital era,” said Wajiran, Ph.D, the Dean of the Faculty of Culture, Literature and Communication, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) when opening the conference. Wajiran added that the communication studies that continue to develop rapidly are increasingly interesting to study.

On the other hand, the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahiyah Omar’s presentation discussed the growing social media research. “The development of artificial intelligence technology is an interesting study today for Communication scientists,” said Bahiyah. Bahiyah also presented her research on TikTok, and fake news on social media to the participants.

Over seventy presenters from various countries attended the JCC. They presented various latest research results in communication. The output of the Jogjakarta Communication Conference includes publication in journals and proceedings. [] APIK
