Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) commited to establish halal industry in Indonesia. One of the agendas to support it was to conduct a training program for Muhammadiyah Halal Auditor. The training was held on 08-11 February in Zoom Meeting. The agenda was a collaboration of Halal Center UMM and Halal Auditor Agency and Halal Thayyiban Studies (LPH-KHT) Muhammadiyah.
In his remarks, Dr Sidik Sunaryo, SH, MSi explained that the halal industry is comprised of two aspects, morality and rationality. The rationality aspect was full of ideology and interests from several parties, and it could complexify the auditors in carrying out the halal certification.
“Therefore, the auditors were expected to have high morality and integrity in carrying out the halal certification of a product,” the Vice-Rector IV of UMM said.
Afterwards, Sidik explained that intensifying the halal product certification should be carried out by a massive, structural and straightforward system. The training was one of the essential points of Muhammadiyah and UMM efforts in establishing halal industry.
“UMM and Muhammadiyah had conducted several agendas related to the halal industry establishment. The agenda included the formation and enlargement of Halal Muhammadiyah agency and this training of the Muhammadiyah Halal Auditor. Moreover, we have planned halal system, one of them is the Muhammadiyah Halal Auditors program. I expected that various attempts we had carried out becomes inseparable part of society,” Sidik said.
