Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI) inaugurated 930 graduates with Bachelor and Diploma degrees on Saturday (27/11) and Sunday (28/11). The inauguration was conducted by a limited face-to-face meeting in the Rectorate Building, UMRI Main Campus. The Rector of UMRI, Dr H Mubarak MSi, explained that UMRI has successfully handled the condition during pandemics by applying a strict health protocol.
He expected that UMRI graduates would have social skills with upholding honesty, tolerance, social concern, and Islamic values. “Also, to be able to collaborate with various parties for proposing solutions in communities’ problems,” he said.
Dr Mubarak also mentioned that after getting this education achievement on campus, the graduates should not diminish their study motivation. He prompted the graduates to keep looking for knowledge everywhere. “You should work to give advantages for broader communities,” he said.
Afterwards, he also explained that the graduates from Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) were not an obstacle. “Opportunities await you all in the era which has different challenges and patterns of life,” Dr Mubarak said. The difficulties undoubtedly would be existing, and he hoped the graduates should not be discouraged and keep competing.
As reported on the official UMRI site, 930 graduates and invited guests should attach vaccination certificates and swab-taking statements with negative descriptions. Moreover, Rizky Nurhandayani, in the Finance and Banking Program, became the best graduate with the highest GPA.
