Muhammadiyah Higher Education, Research, and Development Council (Diktilitbang) reconducted the Business Development Webinar, of the 4th series, on Saturday (10/07). Prof. D. H. Chairil Anwar, Deputy Chair of Muhammadiyah Higher Education, Research, and Development Council, mentioned previous webinars had been conducted and invited several speakers from the leaders of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institution (PTMA) and externals. “On this webinar, it will be attended by those who come from three different universities in the excellent grade of PTMA. They are Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP as UMSU Rector, Utik Bidayati, S.E., M.M. as UAD Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs, Assets, and General Administration, and Dr. Zamah Sari, M.Ag. as Uhamka Vice Rector II,” he said.
This webinar aims to encourage PTMA leaders throughout Indonesia to perceive business development requirement in each campus in the current condition as essential. “That’s why we always strive to convey success stories from our Universities,” said the Coordinator of Research, Development, and Business Development. In the future, the results of the entire webinars held by the Research, Development, and Business Development Division could become a book so that the presentations given by the speakers can be helpful and encourage business development in PTMA.
To start the presentation, Utik Bidayati, S.E., M.M. said that the income of PTMA should not only be derived from one source. It has also become a policy in college accreditation that encourages gain besides student tuition. “Especially during the pandemic, the condition is extraordinary for us because of the multiplier effect from the pandemic, and it has an impact on PTMA,” she explained. UAD also has several outputs in the form of income-generating research as a form of the knowledge-based product so that the product from the research results is directed to be commercialized.
Prof. Dr. Agussani MAP, UMSU Rector, also agreed that a source of income is not only from the student tuition. Currently, UMSU Business Unit has a Palm Oil Plantation with a total land area of 116 hectares located in Sosor Gadong, Central Tapanuli. “Only in the last 5 years have we managed it with good governance. Alhamdulillah, from the income for 5 years, we received 1.5 billion in a year,” he explained. Prof. Dr. Agussani also mentioned the existence of an oil palm plantation located in Sibiru Biru, Deli Serdang, which is managed directly under UMSU Faculty of Agriculture. “Alhamdulillah, the results of the management generate approximately 500 million per year,” he explained.
At the end section, Dr. Zamah Sari, M.Ag. explained Uhamka’s business experience by managing five business units. Among them are Credit Banks which were established in 1990. Furthermore, Uhamka catering and mineral water production is currently under Usaha Terpadu Uhamka incorporate company (PT Utama). In 2021, Uhamka also established Surya Tekno Komputindo. “Currently, we are more focused on the last two businesses managed by Uhamka, namely PT. Utama,” he concluded.
