The Chairman of the Office of International Affairs (KUI), Yordan Gunawan, officially reappointed as the Chairman of the Office of International Affairs Association (ASKUI) Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) in 2021-2023. In the plenary session of the annual meeting and national congress of ASKUI, which was led by the Deputy Chair of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Prof Edy Suandi Hamid, Yordan was elected by acclamation. The meeting was held on Monday night (20/12) in Santika Premiere Hotel, Surabaya.

After the election, Yordan hoped to implement the mandate excellently. “I hope I can gain the support from all the chairman of KUI and together we can collaborate well,” he said.

Responding to Yordan Gunawan’s reappointment, Prof Edy appreciated Yordan’s competence. “He already has demonstrated a good performance. He still actively collaborates with various parties amid the pandemic,” said Prof Edy, after the election that was also witnessed by Prof Lincolin Arsyad and UM Surabaya Rector, Dr Sukadiono.

For two days (20-21/12), seventy-two boards of the Office of International Affairs (KUI) for Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) conducted the annual meeting of KUI Association (ASKUI) in Surabaya. The meeting was conducted offline and became the first offline meeting since the Covid-19 pandemic. The agenda was opened by the Vice Deputy of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) for ASKUI, Prof Edy Suandi Hamid, followed by 72 representatives from 62 MHEIs. “I expect that in the following period, ASKUI would be more innovative and creative due to the more dynamic situation of higher education,” said Prof Edy.

In his direction, the Chairman of CHERD, Prof Lincolin Arsyad, expected that in 2022, there would be a concrete visit overseas to follow up the existing collaborations and produce more MoUs. “However, the MoU should be concrete, there should be a follow-up agenda. Not only the MoU signing. How MoU encourages MHEIs to be the center of excellence,” said Prof Lincolin.

In his remarks, The Rector of UM Surabaya, Dr Sukadiono as the meeting host, highlighted the importance of ASKUI’s existence to strengthen MHEIs. Therefore, UM Surabaya always supports the ASKUI program. “Before the pandemic, UM Surabaya also hosted the national congress (munas) and its leadership election of the previous period,” said the Rector of UM Surabaya.

Moreover, the Chairman of ASKUI, Yordan Gunawan, explained that 72 participants from 62 MHEIs from Sabang to Papua joined the meeting. “We raise a theme ‘International Collaboration Model for MHEIs’ to extend the coverage of programs and support the Independent Learning, Independent Campus program,” said Yordan.

Advanced School of Nursery Science Muhammadiyah Pontianak (STIK Muh Pontianak) held the 1st Borneo International Conference Management Health Education and Technology (BICOMHET) 2021. The conference which raised them “Challenges and Opportunities in the Era of Society 5.0” was conducted online and attended by 238 participants on Saturday (18/12).

The Committee Chief of the 1st BICOMHET 2021, Ns Tutur Kardiatun, MKep, explained that the purpose of the agenda was to improve the recent knowledge development of various fields. “Besides to increase the knowledge in Technological Innovation and various scientific information about the Nursery Science among countries, especially Japan, Malaysia, India, and Indonesia,” he added. 

The Head of STIK Muh Pontianak, Ns Haryanto, MSN, PhD, hoped that the 1st BICOMHET 2021 would be an effective forum for Academicians, Research, and Practitioners to exchange perspectives and participate in advancing knowledge, research, and technology. “The conference included several interesting topics related to all theoretical and practical aspects, not only the management, health, nursery, midwifery, psychology, education, religious studies, sociology, engineering, technology, and pharmacy,” he added.

Moreover, the resource persons in the 1st BICOMHET 2021 comprised Ns Imran MHS PhD from STIK Muhammadiyah Pontianak, Ns Fitri Arofiati, MAN, PhD represented Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Dr Muhammad Hadi, MKep from Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. Also, Prof Dr Makoto Oe from Kanazawa University Japan, Prof Dr Mah Boon from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia, and Prof Dr Inderbir Singh from Chitkara University India delivered their materials at the conference. The conference was also completed by the video competition, education poster, and oral presentation of the research result from Indonesia and Malaysia. In addition, the proceedings of the conference indexed Scopus/ WoS.

Hematology Expert Lecture Empowers Unimus Health Students

Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (Unimus) held an expert lecture on Sunday (19/12). The lecture entitled “Hematology Description to Support Diagnosys” invited Tonang Dwi Ardyanto dr SpPK PhD as resource person. He is a lecturer from Universitas Sebelas Maret. Moreover, Andri Sukesih SKM MSi led the lecture as a moderator on the agenda. The participants comprised the fifth semester to follow an internship in Hospital Laboratory in the following 2022. A hundred participants entered the Zoom Meeting and attended the lecture online.

The hematology examination as the health study which learns blood and disorder has several advantages, including the assessment in the general health condition, the indication of infection analysis, and helping doctors to diagnose the disease. Therefore, the lecture aimed to support the competence improvement in hematology. It became a supplementary material for Diploma-III Health Analyst, the Faculty of Nursery and Health Science.

As reported on the Unimus site, the hematology assessment helped to serve donor procedures and blood transfusion. Therefore, it is urgent for the medical laboratory staff and experts who have competence in hematology assessment. The hematology lecturer was the sixth lecture expert. Previously, the expert lectures of Diploma-III Health Analysts included cyto-histotechnology, parasitology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and toxicology.

In the future plan, the lecture did not stop to discuss hematology. Afterwards, the following expert lecture discusses immune and tubex.

IMM STIT Muh Bojonegoro Held Ideological Training Follow-Up

Commissariat Board of Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM) Ahmad Dahlan STIT Muh Bojonegoro held Follow-Up agenda for Basic Ideological Training (Darul Arqam Dasar) 2021, located on Katur village, Gayam district, Saturday-Sunday (18-19/12). With the theme “To raise leadership in student with responsible and uphold the Three Basic Competence”, the agenda was supported by Muhammadiyah Regional Board of Bojonegoro, LazisMu Bojonegoro, ‘Aisyiyah Regional Board of Bojonegoro, the Head of STIT Muhammadiyah Bojonegoro, Alumni Communication Forum (Fokal) IMM Bojonegoro, and other parties.

IMM was expected to contribute to the problems of cadres and the broader community, although in the Covid-19 pandemic condition. IMM movement was based on three aspects, known as Three Basic Competence in Religiosity (Islamic Intelligence), Intellectual (Intellectual Intelligence), and Humanity (Community Service).

Moreover, as supported agenda, there were Qur’anic Tahfidz for Qur’an Education students, a leadership talk show for the youth, problematic discussion for student organization and society, liquid detergent production training with Family Welfare Programme (PKK) members, and DAD follow-up agenda. In addition, the final schedule included Social Assistance disbursement in 70 package groceries for the underprivileged persons collaborated with Katur Village government and LazisMu Bojonegoro.

Sukono, as the Village Chief, appreciated the agenda. “IMM Commissariat Board of Ahmad Dahlan has provided a beneficial program for us. I hope similar programs would be conducted, and we, on behalf of people in Katur are ready to collaborate with IMM members,” he said. Muhammadiyah Branch Board of Gayam, Ust. Amin Ramadhoni also prompted with An-Nisa’ verse 122 citation, “But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness,- we shall soon admit them to gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,-to dwell therein forever. Allah´s promise is the truth, and whose word can be truer than Allah´s?”

On the other hand, the IMM Commissariat Board of Ahmad Dahlan, Miftakhur Rizki Ramadlan, explained that a militant cadre required a long process, with patience, perseverance, learning, and removing any doubts. He cited General Soedirman’s statement, “It is hard to be Muhammadiyah cadres. If you are hesitant and indecision, you better go home,” he said.

At the same time, Ahmad Rohman, as the Committee Chief of the DAD follow-up agenda, mentioned the primary expectation of IMM cadres. “I hope that IMM can actively contribute to build self up both in campus and communities. We are the new cadres who need assistance from seniors, Fokal IMM, and various parties. I expect that we can realize IMM jargon, ‘Graceful in Morality, Excellent in Intellectuality’ Anggun Dalam Moral, Unggul Dalam Intelektual,” he said.

The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof Dr Agussani, MAP was officially inaugurated as the Professor in Social Science, the Faculty of Social and Political Science in the UMSU Main Campus Auditorium, Saturday (18/12).

In his remarks, H Edy Rahmayadi, the North Sumatera Governor, expected Prof Agussani’s achievement to enhance the professor quantity in North Sumatera significantly. However, he also mentioned that a professor should pursue quantity and elevate quality. “Undoubtedly, I also hope that North Sumatera can elevate the number of professors, however the most important is to increase both the quantity and quality of the professor,” he said.

Prof Dr Ibnu Fajar, the Institute for Higher Education Service (LLDIKTI) Regional North Sumatera, explained that the Professor’s duties to improve education quality are not effortless. “There is a significant load to carry, especially Prof Agussani also becoming a Rector of UMSU. I hope it will encourage the other professor establishment,” he said.

The Institute for Research and Community Service (LLPM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro) conducted the Community Service (KKN) socialization on Tuesday (14/12). This socialization was guideline socialization from the Community Service Management Board. It was located in HI UM Metro Building. The Rector of UM Metro, Drs H Jazim Ahmad MPd, the Vice-Rector I of Academic Affairs, Dr Agus Sujarwanta MPd attended the socialization agenda. Afterwards, the Head of LPPM UM Metro, Dr Achyani MSi, and the Head of Community Service Center UM Metro, Riswanto MPdSi, delivered their materials as resource persons.

At first, Drs Jazim Ahmad explained the KKN’s practical implementation to various parties. In his opinion, besides completing the student academic curriculum, the KKN agenda also becomes a medium for the faculties to demonstrate their excellence. “For instance, the Faculty of Engineering with their engineering science, the Economics and Business with their marketing knowledge, the Communication Science with the Informatics Technology fields, and many others. UM Palopo Sends Athletes to Pre-POR Prov XVII

Several students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo (UM Palopo) joined the departure of the Pre-Province Sports Week (Pre-POR Prov) contingent on Monday (13/12). Twelve people were included in this contingent; the four were UM Palopo students. Later, the delegation should compete at Pre-POR Prov, which would be conducted on Friday-Monday, (17-19/12).

The twelve athletes comprised one official coach and eleven athletes. In the Pre-POR Prov location, they would compete with other regions. Moreover, the championship contested a ticket for POR Prov XVII the following year.

The contingent left from the KONI office, Palopo city, to Makassar city. The Chairman of Indonesia National Sports Committee (KONI) Palopo city, Hairul Salim SP, released the contingent. They were affiliated as the Anggar sports branch Palopo city (IKASI) Palopo.

The Chief of IKASI Palopo city, Suhandra Makkassau, also accompanied the Chairman of KONI to release the contingent. He, familiarly known as Ellunk, expected that all athletes should compete optimally to get a great result. UM Sumbar Visitation to HIPMI Opens Opportunities for Collaboration

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat (UM Sumbar) visited the Secretariat of Regional Board of Indonesia Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPD HIPMI) Sumbar on Tuesday (14/12). The visitation was conducted by the Institute for Collaboration and International Affairs (LKUI) UM Sumbar. It was located at the Basko Padang Hotel, West Sumatera. BPD HIPMI, represented by the Vice-Chairman of BPD HIPMI Sumbar, General Secretary, and the Vice-Secretary, welcomed LKUI UM Sumatera Barat.

The visitation also discussed the intention to collaborate and implement an entrepreneurship workshop. The idea of the workshop aimed to support the MInistry program, which is to produce a hundred thousand young entrepreneurs. Moreover, the Rector of UM Sumatera Barat already has a program to create UM Sumatera Barat as an entrepreneur university. BPD HIPMI favorably welcomed due to the Chairman of HIPMI Sumbar’s similar work plan.

This visitation has a follow-up agenda to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for both parties. Dr Riki Saputra MA, the Rector of UM Sumbar, mentioned his support for collaborative ideas. “It is a realization form in establishing the Indonesia Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in UM Sumatera Barat,” he said. Previously, five higher education institutions in West Sumatera had created HIPMI in their respective campuses. Later, the collaboration would make UM Sumatera Barat follow the entrepreneur path.

Unimma Collaboration With Taiwan Health Science Campus

Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (Unimma) collaborated with the health science campus in Taiwan by signing the MoU on Friday (10/12). The National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS) became the collaborative partner through Taiwan-Indonesia Healthcare Education Center (TIHEC) program. Both parties signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) virtually. Besides Unimma, ten other Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) collaborate with NTUNHS.

The Rector of Unimma, Dr Lilik Andriyani, SE MSi represented Unimma and was accompanied by the Dean of Health Science Faculty (FIKes). On the other side, NTUNHS representative, Prof Shu-Fang Wu, PhD attended the agenda online. The collaboration among them was in academics that could be in the student and lecturer exchange and training collaboration—also, the organizing workshops and seminars program, publishing research journal, and other supporting collaborative works.

The Rector of Unimma positively keeps collaborating with international higher education institutions. “By this MoU signing, we should establish ourselves to create graduates with international competitiveness,” said Dr Lilik.

Moreover, the Dean of FIKes explained more about the previous collaboration with NTUNHS. “Unimma, especially FIKes has already collaborated with NTUNHS multiple times, but the contract expired. I expect that in this year, the contract can be extended and get the better synergy,” said Dr Hen Setyo, as reported on the official Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang.
