Community Midwifery Practice of Diploma-3 Midwifery Students

The third year of Diploma-3 Midwifery students in ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta were conducting Community Midwifery Practice in Nusukan village. The midwifery practice will be carried out from January 30 to February 13, 2023. The handover ceremony attended by the representatives of Nusukan Village, Tri Hartanto, the Head of the Nusukan Health Center, dr. Yuli Wulansari, Mrs. Etik, and the Head of the Neighborhood and Community Unit.

Yuli Widyastuti, Dean Secretary of the Faculty of Health, mentioned that currently,  the students had followed various practices and exams in several practice areas. It became an opportunity for the students to implement their knowledge and improve health conditions of the community in Nusukan. “Eleven Diploma-3 Midwifery students will focus more on reproductive health for both adolescents and mothers in Nusukan for 3 weeks,” she explained.

She also prompted the students to maintain ethics, manners, and etiquette as a form of maintaining a good name of ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta. In his remarks, Tri Hartanto, representing the Head of Nusukan village mentioned his hope that there will be collaboration between the health center, community leaders, and people so it will produce a positive impact for the community. “And ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta is no longer a stranger for us because we often collaborate and support each other in several activities and we thank ITS PKU for that,” he explained.

In addition, dr. Yuli Wulansari, the head of the Nusukan Health Center, hoped that students could implement their knowledge in the community, especially for maternal and child health care in Nusukan.
