Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah (UNIMUDA) Sorong becomes the first top university in Eastern part of Indonesia. Based on Webometrics in the July 2022 edition, UNIMUDA Sorong placed first in the best university at State and Private Higher Education Institutions category in West Papua. UNIMUDA defended its achievement in Webometrics ranking from the previous edition, January 2022. Webometrics is a ranking system for the world’s universities initiated by Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas/CSIC) since 2004, the largest public research council in Spain. It releases university rankings twice a year, in January and July. The Rector of UNIMUDA Sorong, Dr. Rustamadji, M.Si. mentioned that this accomplishment was truly hard work from various parties.
“I am totally grateful that throughout the year, UNIMUDA has achieved outstanding accomplishments. It can be achieved with various hard works,” said Rustamadji. He also continued that the work did not stop here, other achievements should be accomplished and UNIMUDA should compete at the national level. “It is not the end, but we should continue to get other achievements and always develop Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah (UNIMUDA) Sorong as a campus that can compete at Province level, even in National”.
Moreover, the Vice Rector I Ad Interim, Mukhlas Triono, M.Pd explained that the ranking was a hard work result from UNIMUDA Sorong academic civitas to be an outstanding achievement. “Alhamdulillah, we are grateful to Allah Almighty for this achievement. First top university in Webometrics becomes a shred of evidence that UNIMUDA do various positive works consistently to reach positive accomplishment,” he said. For this achievement, he congratulated all academic civitas that keep on track to set a new record. Also, this ranking would encourage UNIMUDA civitas to improve the competitiveness, and roles in the existence of higher education institutions through scientific publication and research.
