Located in Metro Mayor Official Residence, the school of International Affairs Office (KUI) Batch II organized by KUI Association (ASKUI) officially opened by Prof Edy Suandi Hamid, Tuesday (08/02). The agenda was attended by Metro Mayor, dr Wahdi Sirajudin, and all officials in Metro Government, the Vice Mayor, Secretary, Regional Development Agency (Bappeda). The Rector of UM Metro, Drs Jazim Ahmad, MPd, the Chairman of ASKUI, Yordan Gunawan SH MBA MH, and thirty-four delegations of KUI in all MHEIS also followed the opening ceremony. “There are participants from Aceh, Palembang, Makassar, and many other regions. They gathered here and currently attended the Gala Dinner,” said the Chairman of ASKUI, Yordan Gunawan.
Dr Wahdi Sirajuddin, SpOG (K), the Metro Mayor, appreciated the visitation from ASKUI in Metro. He also hoped that by collaboration with MHEIs, Human resource development could elevate. “We also expected that Metro can be a City of Education. Metro has seven development pillars, one of which is education. Here, Muhammadiyah through MHEIs and KUI, can collaborate with us to improve human resource qualities to support the local development in the educational sector,” said the Metro Mayor, the alumnus of Muhammadiyah High School Yogyakarta.
In his remarks, Prof Edy Suandi Hamid appreciated the Mayor supporting and involving UM Metro staff in the governmental programs. “We will organize other MHEI activities in this comfortable city,” said Prof Edy. He also expected that the school of KUI will contribute to encouraging global collaborations and implementing the program in real. “To be prominent Higher Education Institutions, international collaboration should be conducted,” said the Deputy Chair of CHERD.
According to the Rector of UM Metro, Drs Jazim Ahmad MPd, the Metro Mayor, and all officials have supported and participated in various agendas of UM Metro. “It has been several times that the Mayor and his officials assist our activities in UM Metro. Previously, when the Vice-President visited UM Metro, Metro Mayor had supported and assisted the agenda. Moreover, in the School of KUI, Dr Wahdi also provided his support by attending this meeting,” said Drs Jazim.
