The Undergraduate Program of Sports Science Study Program (IKOR) of the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) in Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS) held a hybrid guest lecture about Sports Physiology on Friday (05/05).
By raising “Cardiovascular System and Body Respiration in Sports”, this lecture invited sports physiologist, Sugiarto, S.Si., M.Sc., AIFM. and was led by the Coordinator of Sports Physiology Course of IKOR FKM UNIMUS, Andre Yogaswara, S.Si., M.Or.
In his material, Sugiarto, S.Si., M.Sc, AIFM explained on how the body’s adaptation response to exercising. “We as humans should be grateful for God’s extraordinary gift about how the body responds so quickly to the intra-cellular level,” he explained.
The lecture was attended by all students of the IKOR FKM UNIMUS study program in the Room 412, 4th Floor of the UNIMUS Health Laboratory. On the other hand, a total of 81 participants also participated online via Zoom Meeting. The participants came from various regions in Indonesia including Central Java, West Java, and East Java.
In his remarks, the Dean of FKM UNIMUS, Dr. Sayono, S.KM., M.Kes. (Epid) highlighted the importance of cardiovascular system and body respiration when exercising for athletes and the community. “Many cases of sudden death occur during exercise experienced by the athletes to general people. Therefore, it is very important to be understood by IKOR students as sports agents towards Indonesian Bugar in 2045,” he explained.
Furthermore, the lecturer of IKOR FKM UNIMUS, Muhammad Muhibbi, M.Pd., AIFM hoped that this guest lecture would be beneficial for students. “We hope that with the presence of sports physiologists here, students will have a better understanding of the sports physiology application in everyday life,” he explained.
