President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof Haedar Nashir, appreciated the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) Hungary recently established according to the Decree of Muhammadiyah Central Board last February. Haedar also gave Muhammadiyah cadre in Hungary messages to demonstrate the identities and progressive characters of Muhammadiyah. “The progressive character icluding inclusive works, offered problem solution and productive in presenting the rapid development of the times to all mankind,” Haedar said as reported on Muhammadiyah.id, Tuesday (09/03).
The establishment was also supported by the UM Purwokerto English lecturers, Feisal Aziez and Listiani. Also, Githa Fungie Galistiani as a Pharmacy lecturer was selected to be a member of PCIM in Hungary. Three of them continued studying doctoral in Hungary. Feisal also explained that in the beginning, several lecturers and Muhammadiyah members had a communication. Then, the number of members of PCIM Hungary increased after a couple of months. “Because we joined the online sermon which was conducted by another PCIM, the PCIM Germany. After the leaders election, we proposed to Muhammadiyah Central Board to establish PCIM Hungary,” Feisal admitted.
Feisal also explained that shortly, they would promote progressive Islam to the world, especially in Europe. “We will participate into dialogues and movements related to religious views, environmental issues, health, and social education,” he said.
Moreover, Achmad Hidayatullah, the Secretary of PCIM Hungary, explained Hungary’s da’wah challenge was about the different cultures and languages. “There are so many youths in Europe who do not believe in God. It is our challenge ahead how to introduce Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin (the mercy for the whole universe),” he said. To conclude, Hidayat expected that PCIM Hungary could serve various perspectives towards Islam in Europe in progress Islam identity in the near future. “Moreover, we hope that the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah of Hungary can be accepted by Europe community,” he concluded.
