Another prideful achievement has been accomplished by Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs). Three MHEIs that comprise UM Malang, UM Surakarta, and UM Purwokerto are ranked as big 7 of Indonesia’s top private universities in South-East Asia of the AppliedHE version. AppliedHE is one of the rating agencies in the world that had released the ASEAN best campus on March 2022.
AppliedHE located in 20 Sin Ming Lane, Midview, Singapore, has selected over 700 private universities in ASEAN to be listed in the ranking process. Several criteria in the assessment process include teaching and learning, employability, and research. Also, it involved community engagement, internationalization, and institution reputation.
In the 6th position of ASEAN, the Rector of UMM, Dr Fauzan expressed his gratitude and intended to keep evaluating the variables that necessary to develop. “Undoubtedly, we need to improve the rank in the following years because university reputation is an important aspect. We also need to improve all services. The award becomes International recognition that also serves as a milestone for years,” said Fauzan in the written statement, Friday (11/03).
This award signified that UMM has accomplished a planned milestone, international competitiveness. “Sixth place in South East Asia becomes a prideful achievement. However, we can not be distracted, we should elevate various aspects that need to be improved. So that we can get maximum results, especially UMM world ranking,” said Suparto, the Rector Assistance for International Accreditation.
UMM was listed for 6th place in South-East Asia and 4th place in Indonesia by a 66,87 percent score. Moreover, AppliedHE also listed other MHEIs in 15th place (ASEAN) and 6th place (Indonesia rank) for Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) with 57,34 percent. It also placed Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) in 27th place (ASEAN) and 7th (Indonesia rank) with 36,19 percent.
