Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) held a National Seminar “The Moderation of Progressive Islam in Indonesia Framework” that collaborated with Muhammadiyah Central Board on Wednesday (15/12). The Vice-Chairman of Muhammadiyah Province Board (PWM) of West Java, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PDM) of Sukabumi, Bogor City, Bogor Regency, and Cianjur and their boards attended the seminar. Moreover, academia civitas also participated in the agenda.
In his remarks, the Rector of UMMI, Dr Sakti Alamsyah MPd, expected that the seminar would elaborate the problem formulas. But, also, it could solve the problems. “Because society’s problems should be a common concern,” he said.
Three resource persons delivered their materials in this national seminar, including Risal Fadillah SH, the Vice Chairman of Muhammadiyah Province Board of West Java; Dr Dadang Syarifudin, MA; Yana Fajar Basori, MSi, and Dr R Deni Danial MM, Administration and Humaniora Science lecturers.
“Here, we discussed a strategic issue. In fact, it is not considered as a new issue for Muhammadiyah because we did not follow the West nor the East, but we follow the Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h,” said Prof Dr Dadang Kahmad, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Central Board.
As reported on the official Ummi site, Risal Fadhillah explained that Islamic Moderation is commonly found in Islam, the easy to understand, comfortable, calm, beneficial, and universal. “To understand moderation means secular, the religion that can be run without differentiate among religious nor non-religious basis,” he said.
