Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) officially launched the KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium and broadcasted online, Saturday (03/07). Drs. H. Marpuji Ali, M.Si explained that the building was planned to be used for Muktamar (congress) of Muhammadiyah in 2022. “The building was built to be conducted the Muktamar Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah which was held in the middle of the year 2022, insyaAllah,” Marpuji Ali, the building construction project leader, explained.

Prof. Dr KH Haedar Nashir, MSi, the President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, attended and signed the inscription of KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium building. Afterwards, the Rector of UMS and Drs. Dahlan Rais M.Hum, as Muhammadiyah Central Board, Dahlan Rais M.Hum continued by pressing the button to launch the building officially. Prof. Haedar hoped that the building could spread the benefits and mashlahat. “The building was hoped to provide huge benefits and become a symbol for Progressive Muhammadiyah in the second century,” Prof. Haedar said.

The building had a main hall and two layers of tribune to accommodate 6.000 people, and the building can be expanded sideways, which is expected to accommodate 8.000 people. For indoor use, the building capacity was the largest in Indonesia. In this building, there will be an area projected as a museum of Southeast Asian Islamic civilization placed on the second floor of Edutorium. The KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium uses a sustainable electricity supply that uses the solar system to be the electricity power concerning the renewable source. The artificial lake, retention lake as the flood anticipation, mosque, and one-hectare public park for the nearby communities complete the Edutorium area. [] UMS / Diktilitbang
