UMSU- As a leader in education, our concern in establishing qualified generations becomes a priority. It becomes a requirement, and we, lecturers, should provide a pleasant learning system and environment. That was a statement from Prof Dr Abdul Rasyid bin Jamian, a lecturer in the Faculty of Language and Communication UPSI Malaysia in the International Seminar entitled ‘Education Management System To Create Qualified Persons’. The agenda was held in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) which collaborated in Universitas Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Malaysia online, Friday (19/11).
Prof Rasyid continued that besides being an educator, a teacher/lecturer has a significant role in an institution that becomes a context they should understand. As a teacher, educators should create a pleasant learning condition and system to achieve excellent education quality. “As an educator, I often sing or provide advice to make my students happy and our teacher-student relationship can be closer,” he said.
He also prompted students to keep searching for knowledge from various sources and expecting a teacher-centered study process. It would be better if the students sought new insight outside classes because outside learning creates a qualified generation, which influences the health, economics, and political condition of a nation. In the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysia’s strategic education also experienced a transformation, as in the post-Covid19 pandemic. “In facing post-Covid19 pandemic, education requires curriculum transformation, creative teachers, and we can not use a traditional learning method again,” he concluded as the resource person in front of UMSU participants.
