A prideful achievement was accomplished by Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan (UMLA) through Webometrics ranking, last July. UMLA placed first at State/Private Universities at Bojonegoro Residenties (Lamongan, Gresik, Bojonegoro, Tuban) against tenth universities in these areas. The Rector of UMLA, Dr Abdul Aziz, S.Kep, Ns, M.Kes expressed his pride and appreciation for UMLA achievement over the last year in Webometrics ranking, July 2022. The pride of the Rector was from the significant raise of webometrics ranking from 604 in the previous year to 156 in January 2022. Currently, UMLA placed 124th rank against all 3,000 State/Private Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia.

Also according to him, the webometrics ranking was not included in UMLA targets; however, it could become a positioning parameter of higher education institutions based on websites, with three assessment standards, including impact rank, openness, and excellence. “However, this achievement is good enough considering that we were established less than 5 years ago but we can compete with other universities, even better,” he said. Azis also described this achievement as an advantage over potential competing strategies in the following targets, especially QS World University Rankings in which almost all world universities use the ranking as a reference. “So many parameters in particular ranking institutions. I hope in the five following years, we can be ranked among the world’s top universities,” he said.

UMLA is one of the private universities in Lamongan established in 2018 that experienced a merger between STIKes Muhammadiyah Lamongan and STIE Muhamamdiyah Paciran. The Decree was directly received from the President of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo. UMLA currently has three faculties with sixteen study programs, including the Faculty of Health Science which consists of Bachelor of Nursing, Pharmacy, Hospital Administration, Diploma-III of Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Professional Nurse, and Midwifery Programs. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Economics and Business consists of Bachelor of Accounting, Management, Sharia Economics, and the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Education comprises of Bachelor of Physics, Biology, Computer Engineering, and Early Childhood Education
