Dr. Saidul Amin Officially Inaugurates Vice-Rectors of UMRI

The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau (UMRI), Dr. Saidul Amin officially inaugurated three vice-rectors that had been witnessed by the President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof. Haedar Nashir in UMRI Auditorium, Wednesday (25/05). The three Vice-Rectors are Wirdani Irma, Vice-Rector I; Rasyad Zein, Vice-Rector II; and Vice-Rector III, Jufrizal Syahril.

Dr. Saidul Amin expected that new vice-rectors capable of carrying mandates to dedicate their effort, mind, and time to UMRI and Muhammadiyah’s vision and mission for the following years. According to him, the higher education institutions have a strategic role to implement policies and thoughts of the Muhammadiyah Central Board in the grass root and broader communities.

“I try to interpret that higher education institutions are a medium to implement and run the policies and thoughts of Muhammadiyah in the broader communities,” said Saidul. It could be realized by strengthening International partnerships based on the internationalization policy of Muhammadiyah. “As what we have done, UMRI had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Multilinguit school, Thailand. And in the following years, UMRI is also preparing student exchange collaborations with Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand institutions to study in UMRI,” he added.

Prof Haedar Nashir also appreciated UMRI’s achievements for the trust of 12 thousand people in Riau. “We highly appreciate UMRI, to all boards, the Daily Advisory Board, the Rector, and all academic civitas, and Muhammadiyah Province Board of Riau that has built a big campus. We also appreciate the former Rector, Prof Mubarak with 12 thousand students,” Prof Haedar said.

The President of Muhammadiyah Central Board also urged the development of UMRI with a cooperative spirit and a sophisticated system. “The differences in an organization are natural, however, to create an organization’s vision and goal, it should be developed with togetherness. Having a different opinion is understandable, but it should not become a conflict trigger. We search and find the superiority of every distinction,” Prof Haedar said.

Office of Muhammadiyah CHERD Receives Extension of ISO Certification

The Office of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) officially received the extension of the Quality Management System Certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001: 2005 after undergoing audits from Tuv Rheinland on the First Floor of Muhammadiyah CHERD’s office, Monday (23/05).

The audit team declared Muhammadiyah CHERD’s office had completed ISO 9001: 2005 requirement by Number 824 100 19006 as the Providers of Administrative Service for Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education (MHEI). Currently the Office of Muhammadiyah CHERD became the only office in Muhammadiyah Central Board that received ISO 9001: 2005 certification. “Therefore, it is a challenge for the boards and staff in Muhammadiyah CHERD to maintain this achievement and ensure improving the quality management to be better in the future,” said Muhammad Sayuti, M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D. The Secretary of Muhammadiyah CHERD also mentioned this achievement could influence its service to MHEIs. According to him, Muhammadiyah’s achievement should be followed by office management improvement. “Therefore, this achievement should be developed to increase the quality of service by CHERD to MHEIs. It also could influence the development of MHEIs that currently becomes an important pillar in the future that possibly cause Muhammadiyah’s development,” he said.

Supriyanto, the Tuv Rheinland auditor also explained that staffs of Muhammadiyah CHERD’s office have completed great competencies. “Audit has run well and is interactive,” he said. Several notes and findings should be completed at a specific time. Velandani Prakoso, the Head of the Office, was grateful for the audit result. “Audit that has been conducted today becomes a transfer of knowledge for us. UMSB Book Review Of Prof Haedar Nashir ‘s Writing

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat (UMSB) held a book review entitled Indonesia: Ideologi dan Martabat Pemimpin Bangsa on Monday (23/05). On this occasion, UM SB collaborated with Suara Muhammadiyah to review a book from Prof Haedar Nashir, the President of Muhammadiyah Central Board. The agenda held in the Third Campus of UMSB, Aur Kuning, also started with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing procession between UMSB and Suara Muhammadiyah.

The Vice-Rector III of UMSB, Moch Abdi SE MM; the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Regional Board of Bukittinggi, Ismail Novel; the Director of Suara Muhammadiyah, Deny Asy’ari; the Deans and Lecturers in UMSB attended the book review. The Rector, Dr. Riki Saputra MA, through the Vice-Rector III of UMSB, appreciated the agenda that chose UMSB as the first campus to review the latest book of Prof Haedar.

“We should follow and apply Prof Haedar’s thoughts in his book. The implementation is for all Indonesian people, not only the members of Muhammadiyah,” Abdi said. He also valued the agenda, on behalf of the UM Sumatera Barat Rector, due to an honor to organize the 48th book review of Prof Haedar.

Furthermore, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Regional Board, Ismail Novel, was enthusiastic about the book review. He mentioned that Prof Haedar Nashir’s book was Muhammadiyah’s pride. Bukittinggi became the second location for the book launch after it was first released in Makassar, South Sulawesi. A deliberate decision for Bukittinggi as the book review location was due to various Indonesian notable people being born there.

Prof Dr. Agussani, MAP that, reappointed as the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) in the year 2022-2024, has been inaugurated by Prof Lincolin Arsyad, the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Tuesday (24/05). The President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof Dr H Haedar Nashir, MSi; the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Province Board, Prof Dr H Hasyimsyah Nasution MA; the Daily Advisory Board of UMSU, Dr Bahlil Datuk, MM; the Head of Higher Education Service Institute (LLDikti) Regional Sumatera, Prof Dr Ibnu Hajar, MSi dan Prof Dr Ir Djohar Arifin Husin; Muhammadiyah – Aisyiyah Province and Regional Boards in North Sumatera; and several invited guests attended in UMSU Auditorium.

In his remarks, Prof Dr. H Haedar Nashir, M.Si mentioned the inauguration of Prof Agussani as a Rector could be seen as trust and responsibility that had been completed. Three fundamental aspects are relevant: foundation, direction, and acceleration. These aspects could be indicators as a guarantee of achievement in another two years. “We would like to congratulate you. Also, we believe in the existence of collective and organizational collaboration between the Daily Advisory Board, Muhammadiyah dan Aisyiyah Province Boards, the government, and various institutes to extend the mandate,” he said.

Prof Dr. Ibnu Hajar, M.Si appreciated UMSU’s achievements in committing to increasing the number of associate professors and professors. He also expected that UM Sumatera Utara could be more concerned with maintaining the improvement, especially in human resources. “Moreover, UMSU can be a centre of excellence, especially in North Sumatera by implementing multi-discipline collaboration, fostering good character and identity, and becoming a transformation motto,” he said.

UMSU currently has three excellent study programs with A status of institutional accreditation. Prof Dr. Agussani MAP also mentioned what UMSU accomplished is closely related to Muhammadiyah synergy. Therefore, UMSU is committed to following various programs from Muhammadiyah Central Board. “Alhamdulillah, under the guidance of Muhammadiyah CHERD, UMSU achieved four stars in the QS Star. We deeply appreciate considerable assistance and great encouragement,” Prof Agussani said. UM Sumatera Utara also has a 21,8-hectares land area for an integrated campus. UM Papua Established The First Master Program of Communication Science in Papua

Universitas Muhammadiyah Papua (UM Papua) officially launched the Master Program of Communication Science based on the decree of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 277/E/O/2022. In the launching, the submission of the ministerial decree was from Higher Education Service Institute (LLDikti) Regional XIV Papua and West Papua, Dr. Suriel Mofu, S.Pd., M.Ed. TEFL, M. Phil, to the Rector of UM Papua, Prof. Dr. H. R. Partino, M.Pd in Suni Hotel, Abepura, Monday (23/05).

UM Papua currently established a Master Program of Communication Science with three concentrations, including Public Relations, Political Communication, and Development Communication and Extension. “The Master program of Communication Science becomes the first and the only program in Papua. After the launch, we are ready to open student enrollment. UM Papua also has Bachelor programs with six study programs, comprising Communication, Entrepreneurship, Computer Science, Psychology, Law and Environmental Science,” he said.

Dr. Suriel Mofu expected that UM Papua could lead in Communication Science, especially in Papua. “We need experts in communication that can provide breakthroughs in communication issues. The experts from Unmuh Papua can bring assurances in various job fields, especially in information assurance,” he said.

Paskalis Netep, SH, the Expert Staff for Papua Indigenous People and Culture Development, delivered remarks as Papua Governor representatives, mentioning UM Papua has contributed to Papua development, especially in education. Unmuh Papua, previously STIKOM, focused on Communication Science, undoubtedly becomes necessary for broader communities. Particularly, Papua is still developing and keeps improving to be independent and prosper. “We invite all academic civitas to contribute to supporting the government to develop every aspect of life. We always want to keep Papua safe and encourage not to believe in provocation by information that instigates us,” he added.

UM Palopo Awards Scholarship for Nurtang, Medalist in SEA Games

Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo (UM Palopo) awarded a full scholarship for Nurtang on Thursday (19/05). Nurtang is a silver medalist in the 2022 SEA Games, Vietnam. The Rector of UM Palopo, Dr. Salju SE MM, granted the scholarship to this Physical Education student on the Third Floor of UM Palopo Rectorate.

In his remarks, Dr. Salju SE MM mentioned Nurtang’s contribution to the university, and even to the country. “This achievement becomes a rare accomplishment. It would encourage the other students to be more concerned about winning. I expect it can motivate her friends to compete. Therefore, we always give our maximum support,” he said, as reported on the UM Palopo site.

Furthermore, Dr. Salju also explained that this accomplishment should have a particular concern, especially for the government. “The government should guarantee all winners that bring an honor to Indonesia,” he added. He also hoped the Palopo government would appreciate more to the outstanding teenagers.

On this occasion, Nurtang received a special invitation from Unmuh Palopo academic civitas. She was accompanied by her parents to receive the scholarship. Also, tenth students and lecturers were paraded around from her house to the Rectorate. For the award, Unmuh Palopo granted her a full scholarship until the end of her academic year.

UM Palembang Appreciates Lecturers For Publishing Scientific Writings

Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (UM Palembang) appreciated their lecturers on Thursday (19/05). The merit were particularly granted to lecturers who have published scientific works. In addition, the scientific articles that have been published from April 1st, 2021 to April 16th, 2022 reached 305 articles. From the overall amount, seventeen articles are indexed in Scopus. Meanwhile, several articles that had SINTA accredited comprised 239 articles.

The prize for appreciation to Unmuh Palembang lecturers accounted for 1,2 billion rupiahs divided into several classifications. For Q1 journals with First Author status, UM Palembang gave 25 million. UM Palembang also provided 20 million for Q2 journals with First Author status, 15 million for Q3 journals with First Author status, and 10 million for Q4 journals with First Author status. Furthermore, UM Palembang also provided 7,5 million for SINTA 2 with First Author status, 2,5 million for SINTA 3 and 4 with First Author status, and a million for SINTA 5 with First Author status.

On this occasion, the Deputy Chair of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development, Prof Dr. Edy Suandi Hamid MEc; the Chairman of Muhammadiyah Province Board of South Sumatera, Prof Dr. Romli SA MAg; and the Chairman of Daily Advisory Board Unmuh Palembang, Dr. HM Idris MSi attended the awarding agenda. The Vices-Rector, Deans, Vices-Dean, and the Heads of Study Program were also presented. UAD Electric Car Won Second Place in IIMS

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) achieved another achievement through the UAD Electric Car team, Al Qorni Automotive Electrical in the 2022 Formula Electric Student Championship – Indonesia International Motor Show (FESC IIMS) in Jakarta. The vehicle known as the first generation of Ahmad Dahlan Electric Vehicle (ADEV 01) won second place in the overall championship after succeeding to be the fifth place in the acceleration category, third place in the skidpad category, and the third place in the endurance and efficiency categories.

The event followed by 10 higher education institutions comprised Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Politeknik Negeri Madiun, Universitas Brawijaya, Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, Institut teknologi PLN, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Politeknik TEDC Bandung, Universitas Riau, and Universitas Negeri Malang. Choirul Fajri, S.I.Kom, MA mentioned that the achievement has not come without the hard work and all support from UAD academic civitas. “The competition becomes the first competition followed by the UAD electric car team that also becomes the only institution from private and Muhammadiyah universities,” said the Head of Student and Alumni Bureau, in a statement (21/05).

The competition was also beneficial for the students in improving research for technology related to Formula Electric vehicles. The specification of ADEV 01 has 28-voltage supplied by four 12-volt dry cells with 40 AH power that are able to move in 20 KM with a maximum velocity of 40 KM/hour.

In following the competition, the participants should undergo the examination of car specification, trial, acceleration test, skidpad test, endurance and efficiency test, business plan presentation, exhibition and winner announcement. The 2022 FESC IIMS winner comprised of  (1) Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, (2) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, (3) Politeknik Negeri Madiun, (4) Universitas Brawijaya, (5) Institut Teknologi Kalimantan, (6) Institut teknologi PLN, (7) Universitas Gadjah Mada, (8) Politeknik TEDC Bandung, (9) Universitas Riau, and (10) Universitas Negeri Malang.

FESC became an event in the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), the biggest vehicle exhibition event in Indonesia. Therefore, the prestigious event was also attended by various vehicle manufacturers, industries, and famous experts.

UMM International Short Course Followed by 70 International Participants

Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) organized an International Short Course since Wednesday (18/05) until the middle of June. It is managed by the Health Science faculty (FIKES) and raises the theme “Collaboration Therapy in Musculoskeletal Neurological Disorder”. Interestingly, the participants are not only from the White Campus but also tens students from the other universities. It counted 70 participants from Brazil, Vietnam, Egypt, Gambia, Yamen, Malaysia, the Philippines, and many other countries.

The Vice-Rector I, Prof Dr. Samsul Arifin, M.Si mentioned that the short course became an academic collaboration between international universities, especially the collaboration with the White Campus. Although it has different places and times, the program was conducted by utilizing technology.

Furthermore, he assumed that the short course could improve the international atmosphere in FIKES UMM. He also expected that there would be other collaborations in research and publication. In short, the online meeting could be transformed into a face-to-face meeting.

The Vice-Dean III of FIKES UMM, Rakhmad Rosadi, SST, FT, MSc.PT appreciated the initiation of a short course to expand the International relationship discussing more musculoskeletal neurological disorders. In the future, a similar program will be organized in offline implementation due to the end of the pandemic.

“So I hope our International friends can visit and experience studying in Indonesia and vice-versa, our students in UMM can experience studying in various countries,” he said.

In the short course, FIKES UMM also invited various experts from several countries. Dr Ironse Oliveira Silva from UniEVANGELICA Brazil; Assoc. Prod. Rumpa Boonsincukh from Thailand; Owen Nkaka, Ph.D. from English and many other speakers reported on the UMM site.

UM Kendari Master Program of Management Studies Officially Launched

Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari (UM Kendari) launched the Master Program of Management Studies by the Ministerial decree of the Ministry for Education, Research, and Technology Number 301/E/O/2022. The decree was submitted by the Division Head of Administration of Higher Education Service Institute (LLDikti) Regional IX Sultanbatara, Munawir Sadzali Razak SIP, MA, and witnessed by the Secretary of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Muhammad Sayuti, Wednesday (18/05).

The Rector of UM Kendari, Amir Mahmud mentioned that UM Kendari, in the last two years, had established new study programs, including Information Technology, and the Master Program of Agribusiness and Management. “Our academic civitas is processing administrative requirements for the Master program of Law and Educational Administration. Currently, Unmuh Kendari has 20 study programs to be managed,” he said.

Muhammad Sayuti also appreciated and was thankful for the Unmuh Kendari achievement to receive the decree to establish the Master Program of Management Studies. With this establishment, Unmuh Kendari would be distinct from other higher education institutions. “There are three strengths that make Universitas Muhammadiyah Kendari develop in a particular way other than various campuses comprise da’wa spirit, amal jariyah (the ongoing charity that brings continuous benefit), and amal sholeh (good deeds) in Muhammadiyah,” he added.
