Development of UM Enrekang Digital Field School

Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang conducted the closing program of Strengthening Local Capacity Of Village and Development of Digital Farmer Field School (DFFS) on Tuesday (23/11). The Enrekang Regent, Muslimin Bando, attended in the Unimen Auditorium. The DFFS was a collaborative program between the Royal of Netherland through Van Hall Larensten, the Enrekang government, and UM Enrekang. The DFFS seminar entitled “The Final and The Future” was funded by Nuffic Neso.

DFFS was also an android-based application that can be installed in tablets to be utilized as the communication media of the farmers and the multisector offices in the local government. The development process involved the Agriculture Office, Animal Farming and Fisheries Office, Environmental Service Office, UM Enrekang, and farmers.

The Development of Digital Field School seminar speakers were varied, including Prof Dr Anita Hardon and Dr Rico Lie from Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation Wageningen University and Research. Afterwards, Dr Bert Melief and Dr Pleun Aresbergen from Van Hall Larenstein, the University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands. In addition, the Indonesian speaker was Dr Drs Yunus Busa MSi.

Also presented in the seminar, the farmer representatives from Masalle district, Aksi Mamile Paruac, as the Chairman of Farmer Group Association Mammesa Butung Sarong village. Then, Faridah was the Chairman of the Female Farmer Group and Agus Salim.

To end the meeting, the Enrekang Regent handed over certificates of DFFS Enrekang participants and provided souvenirs for the best participants in the participation and performance categories. They were Mursalim Bagenda, Sutarjo Barrang, and Sunira Nasrul.

Mobile Vaccine Car of Unimuda Sorong As LLDIKTI Assistance

Universitas Muhammadiyah Pendidikan (Unimuda) Sorong achieved assistance from the Institute for Higher Education Institution Service (LLDIKTI) on Saturday (04/12). The grant was in the mobile vaccine car. The type of the car was APV with internet connection support and a small aperture terminal-VSAT. The symbolic submission by handing over the key by LLDIKTI coincided with the 2021 Open Senate Meeting of Unimuda Sorong in the Inaugural Procession of Bachelor XIV.

It aimed to support the government program to establish herd immunity in Sorong regency. Moreover, it also aimed to accelerate vaccination targets in the Sorong regency.

Based on InfoPublik on Monday (06/12), Resort Police Sorong mentioned that Sorong had reached 52,4 % in vaccination at the end of November 2021. At the same time, it was targetted 70 % of the total population. Therefore, the mobile vaccine car and VSAT Unimuda Sorong would fulfill the target.

As reported on the Facebook account of Unimuda Sorong, the mobile car would be traveled around Sorong to visit people directly. The vaccine car would provide service to people who have not been vaccinated yet. Moreover, the car is also completed with a fast internet connection, beneficial for the students and broader communities. So they can access the internet with ease and convenience.

UM Surabaya Bagged Seven Medals in 2021 Province Championship

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) students bagged seven medals in the 2021 Province Championship last Friday (03/12). The students comprised M Galang Eka Saputra, the first place in Sambo in 21-84 kg combat, the second place in Judo, and the male Sambo 2021 competition. Second, Kautsar Rafi Sayyidan, the second place of Hockey in the indoor category. Third, Febrian Bimantara won first place in rock climbing in the male speed world record junior category. While Nahrisyah, Aisa Putri Rahmawati, and M Faisal Hasim won the Jujitsu sports branch. The championship was conducted in the Widya Kartika building.

“From the 1st place achievement, I don’t want to feel distracted. I want to bring this achievement as an encouragement to keep the impressive record towards Province Sports Week (Porprov) VII. I hope campus will facilitate every competition, both national and international,” Galang said, as reported on the official UM Surabaya site.

Junaidy Fery Effendy, the Head of Student Affairs and Innovation Bureau (BAKAI) UM Surabaya, appreciated the achievements accomplished by students with athletic scholarships. “I expect that it was a good beginning, achievements in province-level should be appreciated and supported to get another accomplishment,” he said. The university will always assist outstanding athletes in preparation towards Porprov VI for getting greater achievements.

Fostered-Village of UM Sumatera Barat Won Achievement

Agam regency as the tourism destination of fostered-village Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat (UM Sumatera Barat) accomplished to get the achievement on Anugerah Pesona Indonesia (API) 2021 competition through Buya Hamka Museum in Agam. The museum won second place in the Historical Site category, Tuesday (30/11).

The Rector of UM Sumatera Barat, Dr Riki Saputra, MA, congratulated Agam regent, Andri Warman, and all communities, especially in Agam regency and Sumatera Barat generally, for this achievement. “Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat as a strategic governmental partner will always support the Local Government in the local development strategies and empowerment of the community,” he said.

He explained that UM Sumatera Barat wholly supported Buya Hamka Museum succession at API 2021. It was the first time for Agam regency to follow the competition and won second place at the national level. “As in previous year, we supported Limapuluh Kota regency as it was the first time following the competition and alhamdulillah it won as the second place in Customary Village category in Sarugo tourism village. It portrayed our commitment as a higher education institution which is not only being an ivory tower but also continue to be a water tower which is beneficial for the broader community,” the young rector said.

The Vice-Rector III and the chair of the supporting team Agam towards API 2021, Moch Abdi SE MM mentioned Anugerah Pesona Indonesia had been conducted since 2016, and it is the 6th year. “API Awards 2021 becomes the first award followed by Agam regency, after passing a thorough selection process from the competitors all over Indonesia. Buya Hamka museum located in Agam regency was nominated as the Most Popular Historical Site. The process has been conducted from 1 July 2021 to the end of October 2021,” he said.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof DR HAMKA (Uhamka) won the oral presentation and health campus poster on Wednesday (24/11). The agenda was hosted by Universitas Gadjah Mada organized by the Ministry of Health. The I Help U (Islamic Health Promotion University) team presented the award for the health-promoting program in establishing a health campus.

The Ministry of Health as the stakeholder, appointed six public higher educations to accompany 27 private higher education institutions. Public higher education institutions included UGM, IPB, UNAIR, USU, UNLAM, and UNSOED. Uhamka was under the direction of IPB of Prof Ikeu Tanziha through a real commitment from the Rector of Uhamka, Prof Gunawan Suryoputro. It brought Uhamka to achieve in the presentation and poster categories.

The program was continued by the Vice-Rector IV  support, Bunyamin, in the presentation session conducted in Grand Rohan Yogyakarta. The Institute for Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies (LPP AIKA), Totong Heri, and M Arifin Rahmanto also attended the event. Moreover, the Head of I Help U, Hidayati and the Secretary of I Help U, and the presenter, Imas Arumsari represented the Uhamka team.

The Head of Health Promoting University (HPU) National Board, Prof Yayi Suryo Prabandi, delivered his remarks at the award ceremony to hand over the prize to Uhamka. He stated, “The achievement was a starting point of all campus to establish the health and productive human resources. This first step comes from ourselves, the campus will follow,” he said, as reported on the official site.

Institute for Teacher Training and Education (STKIP) Muhammadiyah Kalabahi held an inaugural procession for the third batch. The inauguration of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi was conducted on Saturday (27/11) for the Bachelor degree (Strata-1) of Elementary School Teacher Department and Mathematics Education located in the Simfony Hotel. The Head of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kalabahi, Marzuki Galeko SE MPd, delivered a speech in the opening session. 

As reported on the Suara Muhammadiyah site, Marzuki congratulated 46 graduates who underwent the procession. “Alhamdulillah, in the Third Batch of Odd Semester, forty-six graduates were inaugurated by STKIP. Most of them have already worked on educational and governmental institutions, or to be entrepreneur,” Marzuki said, to start his speech.

In the inauguration of STKIP Muh Kalabahi, several parties also attended the procession. It included the Head of the Institute for Higher Education Service (LLDIKTI) Regional XV for East Nusa Tenggara, Prof Dr Mnganas Lumban Gaol MSi Ph.D. The Vice Secretary of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Dr Muhammad Samsudin, SAg and the Expert Staff of the Regent for Socio-cultural and Society division, Imanuel Laukamang MSi, also witnessed the procession.

Afterwards, the procession released 36 graduates from Elementary School Teacher Department and ten graduates from Mathematics Education. In addition, STKIP Muh Kalabahi has been achieved accreditation status from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT).

UMS Introduced 2022/2023 New Student Enrolment System

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) launched New Student Enrolment (PMB) system by inviting High School students and teachers from various regions in a blended method in the Seminar Room of the 7th Floor Siti Walidah Main Building and Zoom Meeting platform, Wednesday (01/12).

UMS had conducted soft-launching before the official launching for three days, as the Chairman of PMB, Dr Triyono, MSi, said. “In the 3-days soft launching, the number of prospective students who have been registered were 474 people. 161 students registered for Medical Science Faculty,” he said.

UMS also awarded the first two registered students for the launch, namely Ghina Raudhatul Jannah in Law Faculty and Putri Kinasih Sulistiani in Pharmacy Faculty.

When the Rector greeted her, Ghina expressed her prideful excitement because she became the first student who succeeded to be UMS student. She also mentioned her intention about the learning system, “I want a face-to-face learning, Sir,” the students from Kalimantan Tengah said. Moreover, UMS also awarded ten schools that sent their students to study in UMS.

Compared with 2021/2022 PMB, currently, UMS would use a reservation system for Computer Base Test (CBT) implementation so the prospective students can decide the CBT schedule and which computer they want to use.

This breakthrough portrayed the campus’s efforts to be different from other Higher Education institutions. The One Day Service (ODS) system was reliable for the potential prospective students. It ensued the outstanding result from year to year. “In 10 years, the ODS program resulted in incredible outcomes. Not only to ease related staff and students but also produce qualified graduates,” Sofyan said.

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation and new technology, which undoubtedly affected the method, model, interaction, and collaboration with the other parties. That was a statement of Irfan Purnawan, ST, MChem.Eng as the Dean of Engineering Faculty of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UM Jakarta) in the National Science and Technology (Semnastek) and 1st International Conference on Engineering, Construction, Renewable Energy, and Advanced Material (Icecream), last Wednesday (17/11).

The agenda was themed “Enhancing Sustainable Technology towards Society 5.0”, held by the Faculty of Engineering UM Jakarta, which discussed 9 Engineering fields, including relevant Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Informatics, Heavy Equipment, and Science Technology. The Chief Committee of 2021 Semnastek and Icecream, Yeptadian Sari ST MT, explained that seven nations were followed, including Indonesia, Malaysia, England, Singapore, Netherlands, Argentina, and India.

Prof Dr Edy Suandy Hamid, MEc, the Deputy Chair of Muhammadiyah Council for Education, Research, and Culture (CHERD), expected the event to be an engineering discussion forum. Meanwhile, the Covid-19 pandemic affected the decrease of economic growth, especially in Indonesia. “This discussion forum is expected to create new technology that resolves global problems, especially in Indonesia, to develop the economic growth in the Covid-19 pandemic,” he concluded. Two Students of ITB AD Jakarta Won Innovative Talent Achievement

ITB AD Jakarta-Two students of the Institute for Technology and Business Ahmad Dahlan (ITB AD) Jakarta won the prideful achievement. They both achieved the Indonesia Innovative Talent Achievement Program for the research category.

The Innovative Talent Program was conducted by the Directorate General of the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It was portrayed in the Circular Letter Number 4613/E4/AK.04/2021 on 24 November 2021. Both students were Arfeni Nabila, a postgraduate student in Sharia Finance Studies. The research entitled “Sharia Stock Performance Behavior in the Covid-19 Situation”.

Afterwards, Salman Faris Sani, the Management student, proposed the result of his final assignment entitled “The Consumer Determination of Coffee Processed Product: De Gustibus Non-Est Disputandum Phenomena and Experience-based Marketing Instrument”.

49 Graduates of D-3 Nursing Science UMJ Followed Pledge Procession

Forty-nine students of Diploma-III of Nursing Science Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) followed the Nurses’ Pledge Procession on Wednesday (01/12). The Rector of UMJ, Dr Ma’mun Murod, and the Dean of Nursing Science Faculty (FIK), Miciko Umeda, SKp MBiomed, led the procession. Also attended in the ceremony, the Daily Advisory Board of UMJ, Drs Ateng; the Executive Director of Jakarta Islamic Hospital, dr Pradono Handojo, MBA MHA, and all FIK leaders.

In his remarks, dr Pradono explained that 75% of the Jakarta Islamic Hospital (RSIJ) medical staff were alumni of FIK UMJ. He mentioned the collaborative works of UMJ and RSIJ about the UM Jakarta best graduates could be recruited as RSIJ medical staff. He also highlighted that all FIK  graduates could significantly serve in RSIJ because the hospital has improved its three pillars. “It includes the equipment maintenance, polyclinic rooms for the Social Health Insurance Administration Body (BPJS), and human resources improvement,” he said.

Dr Ma’mun Murod responded favorably to dr Pradono statement. Moreover, he also prompted the graduates to carry the pledge and maintain good communication with the campus. As reported on the official UMJ site, he reminded the nurse workload was humanitarian work because they would serve those who needed help. Afterwards, Drs Ateng also mentioned Muhammadiyah ideals. “Maintain Muhammadiyah ideals to serve Indonesian people and empower the community,” he added. He also added that UMJ was one of da’wah form in Muhammadiyah to bring amar ma’ruf nahi munkar implementation.
