Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMMA) held student capacity building on Wednesday (04/08) virtually. The agenda was an opening series of the UNIMMA International classes. It is called by UNIMMA-International Undergraduate Program of Law (IUPL), the Faculty of Law (FH). The event invited various resource persons who had experience in studying abroad.

The Rector of UNIMMA, Dr Lilik Andriyani SE MSi, delivered her remarks. She expressed her gratitude to FH UNIMMA for conducting the program and initiating the international class as in Strategical Planning (Renstra) and Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) program. “I appreciated FH for contributing to the performance target of 2020/2024 Renstra UNIMMA, comprised of creating national competitiveness and internationalization. I expect that the graduates have a broad understanding and excellent character,” Dr Lilik said, as reported on the official site.

Afterwards, Dr Dyah Andriantini Sintha Dewi SH MHum, the Dean of FH UNIMMA, delivered a speech. She explained that the International class of FH UNIMMA became a pioneer in UNIMMA. In addition, the class would be started in the odd semester of 2021/2022.

The first speaker, Yordan Gunawan SH Int MBA MH, as the Chairman of the International Affairs Office Association (ASKUI) of the Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) in Indonesia, synergized the students’ vision to create young leaders and contribute to the nations. Moreover, M Hazyar Arumbinang SH LLM from the University of Melbourne Australia, and Diana Setiawati, SH LLM, Asia University Taiwan delivered their materials. Both of them shared their experiences and tips to look for scholarships to study abroad. Then, presentation from Nia Kurniati Bachtiar SE SSi MSc as the Head of International Affairs Office, and Puji Sulistyaningsih SH MH as the Vice-Dean of FH in facilitating students in the international class in the accessibility of learning facilities and opportunities.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong (UNIMUGO) was officially established as the merger of STIKES Muhammadiyah Gombong and STT Muhammadiyah Kebumen through the Ministerial Decree of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Number 312/E/O/2021. In his remarks, Prof. Lincolin Arsyad explained that later UNIMUGO would be focused on the health science development for the southern part of Central Java. It was planned to map the Higher Education Institutions in their special character and uniqueness. “We appreciated all parties in supporting the UNIMUGO establishment. Today, the number of Muhammadiyah- ’Aisyiyah Universities increase,” he said.

Prof Lincolin added the merger of two institutions requires good collaborative works. The two cultures which merge were expected to develop better and combine well. Especially now, the institute and universities were different, UNIMUGO establishment also demanded the lecturers to improve the quality, especially the research. “The research was conducted to improve the future knowledge. It needs to be remembered that the transformation also transforms the lectures’ behaviors, from the behaviors of institute lectures improving to university lectures,” he said.

Lazismu UM Gresik Received Donation for People Affected by Covid-19

Lazismu (a philanthropic body of Muhammadiyah) Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik received grocery donations from PT Pembangkitan Jawa-Bali (PT PJB) on Tuesday (03/08). The donations became a collaborative work from both parties in handling Covid-19 and the community concern towards Covid-19 impacts. The financial manager and administration of PT PJB-Gresik, Eko Setiawan, handed over the donation. On the other hand, the Rector of UM Gresik, Dr Eko Budi Leksono, ST MT took the assistance symbolically. The Vice-Rector III UM Gresik, Wuwarno SE MSi, also accompanied.

“The groceries donation is one of the PJB Empati programs. Moreover, to support broader communities, our company demonstrates our contribution, role, and responsibility in assisting people affected by the Covid-19,” Eko continued. PT PJB has collaborated with Lazismu UM Gresik several times. From the collaboration, PT PJB trusts and synergizes with Lazismu Univ Muh Gresik.

The manager of Lazismu Univ Muh Gresik, Dr Abdul Kholid MPdI, explained that the donation distribution targets from PT PJB were Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik civitas academia affected by Covid-19 and conducted self-isolation. Afterwards, Muhammadiyah cadres around campus and public communities in Gresik. He expected that the collaboration between PT PJB and Lazismu Univ Muh Gresik continued to be carried out because it lightened the community’s load for their daily needs. ITBM Purbalingga Becomes The First MHEI in Purbalingga

Institute of Technology and Business Muhammadiyah Purbalingga (ITBM Purbalingga) was officially established in Purbalingga after receiving a Ministerial Decree of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number 318/E/O/2021. Prof. Dr. Ir. M Zainuri as the Head of LLDIKTI Regional VI attended the letter submission. Suparman Syukur as Daily Advisory Board and Prof Edy Suandi Hamid as Deputy Chair of Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) also attended Wednesday (04/08).

In his remarks, Prof M Zainuri explained that the higher education institutions established were to increase higher education access, equality, quality, and relevancy in Indonesia. The ITBM Purbalingga establishment was a hard-work result of academic civitas and Muhammadiyah Central Board support. “The total of private higher education institutions in Central Java is 239 institutions,” he said.

Prof Edy Suandi Hamid added the establishment of ITBM Purbalingga became the first private higher education institution and the first Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institution (MHEI) in Purbalingga. He also appreciated the incredible support of LLDIKTI Regional VI. “The rapid bureaucracy so that we, the Council, also appreciated and fully supported,” he said. Moreover, ITBM Purbalingga had worked hard with the support of Purbalingga government. ITBM Purbalingga opened quite promising and relatively rare study programs. “The study programs of Actuarial, Digital Business, and Urban and Regional Planning were the three programs which relatively rare in private universities, even in governmental universities,” he said. He hoped that these rare study programs could be capitalized and optimized better to be ready to compete in communities.

UM Sinjai Held Training and Certification of Internal Quality Auditor

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai held the training and certification of Internal Quality Auditor, last Tuesday (03/08). The Institute for Quality Assurance (LPM) UM Sinjai conducted this agenda in three days and hybrid (both online and offline). It was held from Tuesday to Thursday (3-5/08). Twenty-five participants received a mandate from their Head of Department to attend this agenda, comprised of five different departments, including Animal Science, Public Administration, Governmental Studies, Aquatic Resources Management, and Agrotechnology.

The Committee Chair of the training and certification of Internal Quality Auditor, Muhammad Lutfi S.IP MA, expressed his expectation to the participants. “I hope all participants passed to be an auditor of internal quality in UM Sinjai, even in Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia,” he said.

The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai, Dr. Umar Congge S.Sos MSi, agreed with the committee. Later, he added the expectation for the participants to follow the agenda entirely. Moreover, he hoped that the participants prioritized the Internal Quality Auditor resources in UM Sinjai.

On this occasion, there were other resource persons. Institute of Administrative Sciences (STIA) Muhammadiyah Selong held a Regional Seminar in STIA Muhammadiyah Selong Auditorium last Saturday (31/7). By theme “The Function of Village Information System (SID) in the Community Service”, the seminar had four papers of STIA Muhammadiyah Selong to discuss. The discussants comprise Muhammad Khairil SIP MSi, Head of the Village Community Empowerment Service Lombok Timur Regency; Dr. M Hasbi Santoso M Mr, Assistant III General Administration Division; Drs Atma Yakin MM, The Secretary of Population and Civil Registration Agency Lombok Timur Regency.

On the official STIA Muhammadiyah Selong site, Yanuar Affandy SH MM as the Chair Committee expressed his gratitude for the seminar which ran well. “Alhamdulillah, the seminar runs well. The material of the seminar is up-to-date and urgent. The seminar aimed to provide knowledge and experience to the students about the importance of the Village Information System,” he said.

Yanuar Affandy agreed that SID was an important element. Meanwhile, the village administrator was commonly late to pay the website subscription, consequently, the SID could not be accessed. UMSi Lecturer Created Modern Trigona Hives Producing Medicinal Pure Honey

The Animal Husbandry Science lecturer of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sinjai (UMSi) conducted community service in Bana village, Bontocani district, Bone regency. The agenda aimed to introduce the new technology in elevating honey production. The innovation used a particular Trigona bee known as Double Chamber PVC Hive. The hive was produced from the water pipes, convinced it can make honey faster and more significant in numbers than conventional hives, which local communities have conducted.

Azmi Mangalisu, the UMSi lecturer, conducted the program, funded from the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) grant in the fiscal year 2021 after undergoing a proposal selection process in the Community Partnership Program (PKM).

The output showed the increasing knowledge in elevating the Trigona honey production based on the technological implementation of double chamber PVC hives in Tengnga, Bana village. “Alhamdulillah, we as beekeepers are helped by this socialization and assistance of the modern hives that, in reality, can increase the production number of Trigona honey in our village. We appreciate the Animal Husbandry science lecturer who disseminated the knowledge,” Mustagaenal Akhyar, one of the beekeepers, said.

The agenda was conducted for two days attended by Mochamad Nurdin, SIP, MA as the UMSi Vice-Rector III of Students Affairs, Publication, Collaboration, and Alumni; Baharuddin, S.Sos, S.Pd.I, MSi as the Head of Institute for Research and Community Service; Dr Abd Hakim Fattah, SPt, MSi as the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology; and several lecturers and students in Animal Husbandry Department. The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (UM Palembang) collaborated with Job Training Institute ‘Lembaga Pelatihan Kerja’ (LPK) Darussalam to conduct the Business Management Training and Workshop, Thursday (29/07). Located in Raflesia Complex, Palembang. The agenda was conducted to support the implementation of the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM).

The Vice-Rector III, Dr Ir Mukhtarudin Muchsiri, M.P., who opened this event and delivered a speech, mentioned the UM Palembang contribution to the MBKM program. In MBKM, various programs targeted the students. Therefore, the students should be active and always coordinate with the Head of Study Program to access the program.

One of the MBKM programs was the students’ Business Management Training and Workshop. The program has other functions to develop students’ competence and access to the experts, besides the knowledge which can be earned in the college. “Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang achieves two leagues in MBKM grant and becomes the only one in the Southern Sumatera. Also, the Management department earned the achievement,” he said.

UM Banjarmasin Committed To Elevate Human Resource Quality

Universitas Muhammadiyah Banjarmasin (UM Banjarmasin) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Thursday (07/07). The second party from the MoU was Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PDM) Kapuas and the Kapuas Education Office. Located in Adijani Al Alabij Hall at the main campus of UM Banjarmasin, the agreement included the implementation of Higher Education Institution Tridharma. This implementation involved student enrolment, alumni allocation in the working world, and the other agreement points.

The Head of Kapuas Education Office, Dr H Suwarno Muriyat SAg MPd, wholly welcomed the agreement because it was in line with Kapuas Local Government’s commitment to improving human quality, in his remarks. “It is also, specifically, to be mandated as in the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology programs,” he said, as reported on the official site.

In his remarks, Suwarno also mentioned four targets of Kapuas Government, especially in education, through a “Great Education, Smart Kapuas” program. The targets include improving graduate quality, elevating educators and staff professionalism, increasing stakeholder involvement, and implementing the local wisdom-based curriculum.

Prof Ahmad Khairuddin, the Rector of UM Banjarmasin, in his speech, also appreciated the agreement between UM Banjarmasin, PDM, and Kapuas Education Office. In his opinion, it is the university’s effort to extend access and establish its vision for being the foremost, top, professional, progressive Islamic university in Kalimantan in 2025.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (Unmuh Bangka Belitung) held the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Wednesday (8/7). The other parties signed the MoU was the National Zakat Agency in Indonesia (Baznas) Bangka Belitung province. Unmuh Bangka Belitung was represented by Gatot Aprianto SSos, Vice-Rector III for Students and Alumni Affair, Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies, and Information System Unmuh Babel. Meanwhile, Baznas Bangka Belitung delegated Muhammad Atobi AB SH MH as the Vice Chief IV of Baznas Bangka Belitung Province.

Muhammad Atobi explained that the MoU is supporting to reduce the educational cost. The program targeted the underprivileged students in Unmuh Bangka Belitung. “The program is a manifestation of hope. Our hope is that financial problems do not cause the students to drop out from school by the agreement of this scholarship,” he said.

He also ensured that they verified the beneficiaries of this scholarship in the underprivileged status. Afterwards, he also expected that the scholarship students could spearhead better Islamic community development. One of the beneficiaries (mustahiq) should be potential zakat payers (muzakki).

Afterwards, Gatot Aprianto expressed his gratitude. He also appreciated Baznas Babel parties which actively contributed to distributing the scholarship to the underprivileged students. “Insya Allah, the students who received the scholarship were previously verified to receive the scholarship and underwent the visitation. It means that they all qualified to be the beneficiaries of Baznas scholarship,” he expected.
