Business Development Webinar: Business Unit generates Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institution Income

Muhammadiyah Higher Education, Research, and Development Council (Diktilitbang) reconducted the Business Development Webinar, of the 4th series, on Saturday (10/07). Prof. D. H. Chairil Anwar, Deputy Chair of Muhammadiyah Higher Education, Research, and Development Council, mentioned previous webinars had been conducted and invited several speakers from the leaders of Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institution (PTMA) and externals. “On this webinar, it will be attended by those who come from three different universities in the excellent grade of PTMA. They are Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP as UMSU Rector, Utik Bidayati, S.E., M.M. as UAD Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs, Assets, and General Administration, and Dr. Zamah Sari, M.Ag. as Uhamka Vice Rector II,” he said.

This webinar aims to encourage PTMA leaders throughout Indonesia to perceive business development requirement in each campus in the current condition as essential. “That’s why we always strive to convey success stories from our Universities,” said the Coordinator of Research, Development, and Business Development. In the future, the results of the entire webinars held by the Research, Development, and Business Development Division could become a book so that the presentations given by the speakers can be helpful and encourage business development in PTMA.

To start the presentation, Utik Bidayati, S.E., M.M. said that the income of PTMA should not only be derived from one source. It has also become a policy in college accreditation that encourages gain besides student tuition. “Especially during the pandemic, the condition is extraordinary for us because of the multiplier effect from the pandemic, and it has an impact on PTMA,” she explained. UAD also has several outputs in the form of income-generating research as a form of the knowledge-based product so that the product from the research results is directed to be commercialized.

Prof. Dr. Agussani MAP, UMSU Rector, also agreed that a source of income is not only from the student tuition. Currently, UMSU Business Unit has a Palm Oil Plantation with a total land area of ​​116 hectares located in Sosor Gadong, Central Tapanuli. “Only in the last 5 years have we managed it with good governance. Alhamdulillah, from the income for 5 years, we received 1.5 billion in a year,” he explained. Prof. Dr. Agussani also mentioned the existence of an oil palm plantation located in Sibiru Biru, Deli Serdang, which is managed directly under UMSU Faculty of Agriculture. “Alhamdulillah, the results of the management generate approximately 500 million per year,” he explained.

At the end section, Dr. Zamah Sari, M.Ag. explained Uhamka’s business experience by managing five business units. Among them are Credit Banks which were established in 1990. Furthermore, Uhamka catering and mineral water production is currently under Usaha Terpadu Uhamka incorporate company (PT Utama). In 2021, Uhamka also established Surya Tekno Komputindo. “Currently, we are more focused on the last two businesses managed by Uhamka, namely PT. Utama,” he concluded. STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan Organized KMMI Program of Kemendikbud-Ristek

STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan achieved prideful recognition. With other Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEI)s, they became program organizers in the Micro-Credential of Indonesian Students (KMMI). It was a program of the Indonesia Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud-Ristek) in 2021. This prideful news was written on the Directorate General of Higher Education letter, Saturday (26/6). Two selection processes comprised the proposal and presentation selection.

Atang Sutisna, the Head of the Curriculum Development Board (LPK), explained that STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan (STKIPMKu) was one of 85 higher education institutions in Indonesia that achieved a grant for KMMI organizer in 2021. It proved that STKIPMKu was a competitive institution. As reported on the official STKIPMKu site, Anang mentioned the two specific programs on Thursday (1/7). “The programs consist of a course to develop a marketplace in the web application and online store as a platform of online trade transactions. Meanwhile, the second program was a course to create Landing Page to the MSME products,” Atang said. This achievement was a result of the hard work of the team. The team comprises the Informational Data Source Centre (SDI), with Sofhian Fazrin Nasrullah as the coordinator.

Moreover, the KMMI program would be implemented based on the STKIPMKu vision, excellence in education, technology, and entrepreneurship. Head of STKIP Muh Kuningan, Nanan Abdul Manan, expressed his gratitude for the STKIP Muh Kuningan achievement and several MHEIs that passed the Independent Campus, Independent Learning program. “Undoubtedly, it was a prideful achievement for STKIPMKu to have an opportunity to become a higher education institution organizing the KMMI program,” he said.

Besides STKIPMKu, several MHEIs which passed KMMI-2021 were Universitas Muhammadiyah Ceribon, Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik, Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makasar, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya, Universitas Muhammadiyah Pringsewu, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan and Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held Open Senate Meetings of the Promotion of Prof. Dr. Elfrianto MPd as a professor in Education Management in the local campus, Thursday (8/7).

The Rector of UMSU, Prof. Agussani MAP, explained the increasing number of professors in UMSU strengthening the UMSU status as a private higher education institution with A-grade accreditation in Sumatera. He hoped that Prof Elfrianto could give his best contribution, especially in the education management development ahead. “It is in line with a map arranged. I was expecting that in the near future, UMSU will increase 5 more professors,” he said, as reported on Suaramuhammadiyah.id. Currently, UMSU has 52 associate professors and 21 assistant professors.

The Head of LLDIKTI North Sumatera, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Hajar MSi, also appreciated the professor’s promotion of Prof. Dr. Elfrianto would strengthen UMSU’s position as the best private institution. He also mentioned the importance of excellent resources that are innovative, creative, and from multiple disciplines. According to him, the education world faced globalization, the industrial revolution 4.0, and digitalization. Universitas Muhammadiyah Papua (UM Papua) held the signing of MoU with the Indonesian Bureau of Logistics (Bulog) Regional Office of Papua and West Papua in the local campus, Thursday (8/9). The Rector of UM Papua, Prof. Dr. H.R. Partino, M.Pd accepted and appreciated the collaboration. “In short, the campus will be a Muhammadiyah service that widens the business of retail service which provides the primary needs for lecturers, students, and surrounding communities by the competitive price,” he said.

The collaboration was also expected to have mutual cooperation for both parties, such as the entrepreneur internship program for the students and many others. “Currently, we have an Entrepreneur Department which focussed on the graduates competence in entrepreneurship,” he continued.

Institute for Technology and Business Muhammadiyah (ITBM) Banyuwangi extended the da’wa orientation. The Community Service Team of ITBM Banyuwangi visited Kaliploso village. The village was located in Cluring district, Banyuwangi regency, East Java province. Moreover, the town is divided into two areas, Kalirejo and Plosorejo. The agenda was designed to be community service which the lecturers and students have well planned.

The community welcomed the ITBM Banyuwangi team, especially the participants. At first, the ITBM Banyuwangi team presented the Socialization of Household Waste Management. The socialization was running well. The participants also become enthusiastic. This motivation emerged from the expectation of the successive practice step. “We hope that there is a follow-up stage in the seminar, in more practical terms. It should produce good output,” one participant said.

This encouragement was elevated because the Community Service team continued to the following schedule. It was hand sanitizer production. The Chemical Engineering lecturer directly demonstrated the hand sanitizer production procedure. Kaliploso communities also expected the continuous agenda, and the local government mentioned it in the remarks, as reported on the official ITB Muhammadiyah site. “I hope it can be continued in the future,” he said.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universitas Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP Malaysia) and Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, Monday (05/07). The signing ceremony was conducted by the Vice-Rector of UMSU, Dr Akrim. From Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya, Prof Dr Mulyanto Nugroho and UniMAP Malaysia, Deputy-Vice Chancellor, Prof Ir Ts Dr Mohd Rizal Arshar and Chairman of FAB Enterprises, Dr Capt Fausta Barata represented for the ceremony.

The collaborative works in research and community service encouraged the collaboration to online cross-border learning. “Undoubtedly, the collaboration is not for the pandemic situation only, but it becomes a global requirement,” Dr Rudianto, the Vice-Rector III said. He continued that the global world was entering the industrial era 4.0 marked by digitalization and reality. The pandemic supported this rapid development due to the restriction of social activity. Therefore, education should conduct online learning. “When the campus looks so quite because the lecturers and students was busy to conduct virtual learning process,” he said.

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Surakarta (Aiska) choir bagged silver national achievement. The choir team, Parasaka team, was joined Virtual Choir Competition Festival by the Association of Indonesia Muhammad-’Aisyiyah Midwifery Science Institutions. The competition aimed to increase the creativity and healthy competitiveness among the students of  Muhammad- ’Aisyiyah Midwifery Science Institutions all over Indonesia.

Because of the pandemic, the competition was held online. Implementation of the match was conducted in April, May, and June 2021. The choir competition was attended by talented students from Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (PTMA) in Indonesia. Therefore, the choir teams came from the private campus under Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah management.

The competition had the mandatory songs that should be sung, including “Sang Surya”, which became the Muhammadiyah anthem, and “Aisyiyah anthem”. Lastly, the jury would decide winners in several categories. These included the best performance, favourite video category, and gold, silver, and bronze ranking. In addition, Parasaka team from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Surakarta got the silver rank as the second place.

UNISA Yogyakarta Sends 39 Volunteers To Sardjito Hospital

The Faculty of Health Science (Fikes) Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta sent 39 voluntary health workers to dr. Sardjito Hospital, Sunday (04/07). Suratini, the Vice-Dean II Fikes, explained that the 39 volunteers comprise 32 nursery students and 7 midwifery alumni of Fikes Unisa Yogyakarta. Sardjito Hospital has directly requested Unisa Yogyakarta to send voluntary health workers, including nurses and midwives. “After we received the request, we held internal coordination with the faculty and rectorate leaders. It was decided to support by sending volunteers to Sardjito,” she said. She added the coordination was continued with the Head of Nursery and Midwifery Department offering the qualified prospective nurses and midwifery alumni. They also required the parents’ permission to prepare the voluntary works.

The Vice-Dean III of Student Affair and Collaboration Fikes Unisa Yogyakarta, Wantoro, explained the nursery students who would become volunteers were from the Nursery Profession Program FIkes Unisa Yogyakarta. They have already undergone the clinical practices and will have a competence test next August 2021. Meanwhile, in the midwifery department, four midwives from the Diploma-IV alumni (the three of them graduated in 2020, while one graduated in 2019) and the three midwives from Diploma-III alumni who graduated in 2020. “All of them lived in Yogyakarta and handed their parents’ permission. After the submission, they will have an interview and document submission,” he said.

UMS KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium Building Officially Launched

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) officially launched the KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium and broadcasted online, Saturday (03/07). Drs. H. Marpuji Ali, M.Si explained that the building was planned to be used for Muktamar (congress) of Muhammadiyah in 2022. “The building was built to be conducted the Muktamar Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah which was held in the middle of the year 2022, insyaAllah,” Marpuji Ali, the building construction project leader, explained.

Prof. Dr KH Haedar Nashir, MSi, the President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, attended and signed the inscription of KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium building. Afterwards, the Rector of UMS and Drs. Dahlan Rais M.Hum, as Muhammadiyah Central Board, Dahlan Rais M.Hum continued by pressing the button to launch the building officially. Prof. Haedar hoped that the building could spread the benefits and mashlahat. “The building was hoped to provide huge benefits and become a symbol for Progressive Muhammadiyah in the second century,” Prof. Haedar said.

The building had a main hall and two layers of tribune to accommodate 6.000 people, and the building can be expanded sideways, which is expected to accommodate 8.000 people. For indoor use, the building capacity was the largest in Indonesia. In this building, there will be an area projected as a museum of Southeast Asian Islamic civilization placed on the second floor of Edutorium. The KH Ahmad Dahlan Edutorium uses a sustainable electricity supply that uses the solar system to be the electricity power concerning the renewable source. The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) conducted the proposal presentation of Thematic Community Service (KKN-T) 2021 on Friday (02/07). By the theme “Proposal Presentation of Thematic Community Service (KKN-T) by The Coordinator of KKN-T Program Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI)”. The agenda was driven offline, from 08.30 to 12.00 in Meeting Room A4 UMMI.

Resa Nurmala SAB MA led the schedule, which continued with a short sermon by Arfatul Makiyah SPd MKes. Afterwards, Asep M Ramdan, SE MM, the Head of LPPM UMMI, delivered his speech. The Community Service was a program from LPPM UMMI, which provides the field supervisors and students materials based on the coordinator of KKN-T UMMI Program. From this session, each coordinator achieved review results from the reviewers. The program coordinators comprise eight coordinators from all UMMI lecturers in various home base departments. Moreover, the reviewers consist of Asep M Ramdan SE MM, Drs Iqbal Noor MM from the Institute for Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies, and Dr Sapruddin SS MHum from the Institute for Collaboration and International Relation.

The eight coordinators had twenty minutes to present their materials. The first three presenters were Dr Robin SPi MSi, Faizal Mulia Z SAB MA, and Leonita Siwiyanti SAg MM. Afterwards, the three other lecturers were Firman Maulana MPd, George Pri Hartawan MKom, dan Dicky Johansyah SE MA. The last two presenters were Novita MZ SPi MSi dan Irawan Danismaya SKep Ners MKep. After the last presenter closed her presentation, they had a feedback session with questions and answers and reviewers’ input. It was expected that the field supervisors’ and students’ competence was compatible to implement; the result and follow-up in the following year would be better.
