PKU Muhammadiyah Prambanan Officially Stated as Emergency Hospital for COVID-19

Sri Mulyani, Klaten Regent, underwent the physical assessment and facilities readiness of PKU Muhammadiyah Prambanan hospital as an emergency hospital for COVID-19 treatment. The related department points out that STIKES Muhammadiyah Klaten is the central isolation hospital for patients with suspected and confirmed positive COVID-19. Iskak Sulistya, Pimpinan Daerah Muhammadiyah (PDM) representative, explained that PKU Muhammadiyah Klaten had been officially opened for the central hospital of patient COVID-19 isolation. “We also collaborate with the local and regional government to suppress the spread of COVID-19 effort,” he said.

Dien Kalbu Ady, Director of PKU Muhammadiyah Prambanan, mentioned that the hospital provided 50 beds, 3 ICUs with 3 ventilators, the emergency rooms, and other supported facilities. “With our limitations, we ask for the support towards all communities to work on well,” the member of PDM explained.

Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani, Klaten Regent, stated the establishment of this emergency hospital to handle the sharp increase of COVID-19 cases. By the establishment, it was hoped to optimize the acceleration of COVID-19 treatment for positive patients. UMP Campaigns Mental Health Awareness on Webinar

Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) held a webinar about “Mental Health in Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era”, Monday (28/06). The webinar was a session from Diaphrahmaticus Festival 2021. The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Medical Science Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto became the webinar organizer. The webinar was conducted to celebrate the 2021 National Children Day.

The Vice-Chairman of BEM UMP, Falah Dinar, explained that the webinar aimed to elevate the community’s knowledge, insight, and awareness. The increase of understanding related to the negative impacts of gadgets on children’s and adults’ mental health. “Then, together, we persuade people to notice and actively participate in preventing the negative impacts of gadgets and the internet,” he said as reported on the official UMP site. According to Falah, the webinar was conducted online through Zoom Meeting.

The resource persons on the webinar consisted of dr Prima Maharani Putro, the Chairman of SDC UMP, and dr Yuni Astria SpA, a pediatrician. She also usually writes content in @tentanganakofficial. Moreover, the other speaker was Kak Seto, the Institute for Indonesian Children Protection (LPAI) chairman, and Dr dr Warih Andan Puspitosari MSc SpKj (K), RisingStar Psychiatrist Award-IMAN. UM Palembang Held Design Training and Website Management

Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (UM Palembang) conducted Design Training and Website Management for the students, last Tuesday (30/06). The agenda was held after several collaborative agreements from various businesses and industries with UMP. This collaboration becomes a part of supporting the Independent Learning-Independent Campus (MBKM) policy.

Previously, UM Palembang passed the Independent Learning-Independent Campus assistance program (PKKM) selection on Second League, 2021. At that time, three study programs were qualified for the Ministry of Education and Culture Indonesia program. One of those departments was Institutional Support System (ISS), a system to help develop the higher education institutions’ management system.

The Vice-Rector II Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, Dr Hj Fatimah SE MSi, opened the agenda. She said that ISS has effective programs, including synchronizing UM Palembang policies to MBKM programs and elevating ICT-based service quality towards UMP academic civitas. The improvement of service quality was portrayed in the students’ Design Training and Website Management, which was conducted recently.

“By the program implementation, hopefully, the service quality towards UM Palembang academic civitas can increase the acceleration, accuracy, effectivity, and efficiency,” she said. In this circumstance, the Chairman of the Institute for Quality Assurance Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, Dr Asvic Helida SHut MSc, also attended the agenda.

UM Purwokerto Students Passed International Credit Transfer Program

UM Purwokerto (UMP) had made another achievement. After recently winning the National level, UMP students had succeeded in receiving Financial Assistance for the 2021 International Credit Transfer Program. “Alhamdulillah, UMP received this financial assistance from the Directorate of Education and Student Affairs of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology for 10 students,” said the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs UMP Ir Aman Suyadi MP, Thursday (1/7).

In 2021, UMP submitted proposals of their 10 students, namely, Arini Wijayanti and Mohamad Irham from English Language Education. Meanwhile, from English Literature, they were Luna Nur Lestari and Yunda Asri Lestari. For Accounting, they were Didi Setyono and Rahmah Tajali Nadifa. For Management study program, they were Fatah Mohamad Indra Darmawan and Resphatie Adjie Prastya. For Doctor Program, they were Aura Nirwana and Elissa Indah Herawati.

“Alhamdulillah, all of them passed and received financial assistance. Of course, It is a prideful achievement because UMP has to compete with Universities throughout Indonesia, both the state and private universities,” he said.

Aman is optimistic that more students will pass and receive international credit transfer program assistance in the next year. “InsyaAllah, we will prepare in 2022 so that more students will receive and assist with international credit transfer programs. I congratulate the students who have succeeded in obtaining the grant. We hope that the students will be able to improve their competence and be able to compete at the international level,” he concluded.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (Unmuh Babel) held Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Unmuh Babel Building, Wednesday (30/06). The FGD raised a theme “Problem Mapping and Village Potency Towards Independent Village Trough Community Service”. It was a collaborative work from Unmuh Babel and Local Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Bangka Tengah. Besides Bappeda and Unmuh Babel, the other party included in this collaboration was related Local Government Organization (OPD). The OPD included the Research and Development Body (Litbang) Bangka Tengah, Fisheries and Agriculture Office. Moreover, the Tourism, Food Security, and Village Office of Batu Beriga, Lubuk Besar district, Bangka Tengah regency.

In the agenda, the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Babel, Fadillah Sabri, appreciated the Rural Development FGD, especially for Tanjung Berikat, Batu Beriga Village. “I am so enthusiastic about the Rural Development program. Because it becomes da’wah media to bring humanitarian values,” he said. The Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service, Dzihan Khilmi Ayu Firdausi, also accompanied. Moreover, the Unmuh Babel lecturers who achieve Community Service Grant Internal Skim of Village Partnership also attended in this circumstance.

Isral Naska, Arabic Language Education (PBA) Islamic Studies Faculty, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumbar (UM Sumbar) accomplished 7th ILEM International Summer School. The agenda was conducted by the Scientific Studies Association (ILEM), Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Istanbul University, International League of Academicians (ILM), Islamic Cooperation of Youth Forum (ICYF) on July 5th-9th, 2021. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the participants were invited to Istanbul, Turkey. The agenda became a place for the participants and other scholars around the world to discuss their ideas. However, ILEM is held online in the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, Isral Naska achieved ILEM through a paper entitled “Arabic in Strengthening Religious Identity: a Lesson from the History of Minangkabau Social Transformation. ” The paper is in line with ILEM topic of this year, namely “Muslim Identity in the Modern World: Facts, Threats, and Prospects.” Two selection processes should be through by ILEM participants, including extended abstract writing and full-paper writing. “I spent approximately 5-6 months for both selection processes,” Isral explained.

Isral admitted that attending ILEM was his individual goal for a long time. “Two years ago, I failed in the full-paper selection process, Alhamdulillah; I succeeded this year,” he admitted. About the theme he chose, Isral said there are so many Islamic histories in Minangkabau which further can be elaborated to know and discuss by the education world. “For this occasion, I analyzed Minangkabau history by using social transformational theory which Sewll Jr. propounds to show Arabic classic essential in identity formation in Islam religious community,” Isral further explained.

Furthermore, he felt very grateful to bring UM Sumbar into the International event once more. He hoped that it could be beneficial for him individually and generally in UM Sumbar, where he worked since 2012.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Enrekang (Unimen) held Baitul Arqom for the leaders and lecturers to strengthen the academic civitas. The agenda was held in Training Center (Pudiklat) Unismuh Makassar, Gowa region, last Saturday (26/6). The agenda themed “Strengthen Muhammadiyah Ideology in Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions”. All of Unimen leaders and lecturers attended Baitul Arqam ended last Monday (28/6).

Meanwhile, in his remarks, South Sulawesi Muhammadiyah Province Board, Ustaz Mawardi Pewangi, emphasized the importance of perceptual union about Muhammadiyah amid the ideological competitions. “This agenda should run intensively because currently, we face huge ideological competitions. Insya Allah, in this agenda, we will discuss the true character of Muhammadiyah,” he explained.

UMS students won second place in the International Essay Writing Competition and Webinar, by theme, “The Role of Student in Facing Work and Innovation during The Pandemic Period,” held by Politeknik Indonusa Surakarta.

The team consisted of Egidia Tiffany, Alfrisa Renuat, and Muhammad Arkan Muhadzib, from two different program studies of Nursing and Communication Studies majors. By “Embracing Stress and Managing Time: Keys to More Productive Student Life during The COVID-19 Pandemic”, Egidia Tiffany, as the team leader, explained that the COVID-19 pandemic was not an obstacle to continuing to excel. “We have to enroot the perception of what the future will be like by participating in this international essay competition,” said the team leader.

Tiffany said the achievements are a mandate and a gift given by God to Muslims. As for Fany, to be productive, she can develop her talents and develop her potential. UM Mataram Student Awarded International Mobility Program

UMMAT Student Awarded International Mobility Program

Communication and Islamic Broadcasting (KPI) Students, Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram (UMMAT) was appointed to undergo Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA). The IISMA is one Independent Campus program by the Indonesia Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud RI). The program provided opportunities for the students to study in 1 semester in various universities worldwide. Romi Setiawan, the 4th-semester student in KPI, was appointed to be the IISMA awardee. Announced at the beginning of June 2021, as reported on UMMAT news on Wednesday (23/06), Romi accomplished several steps and became one of the students that would join the IISMA program.

Romi Setiawan had an opportunity to follow the program in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He explained that the willingness to experience the academic atmosphere abroad motivated him to follow the program. “To learn abroad has been my dream for a long time. Alhamdulillah, I have got this chance to experience the education system there because it has to be different,” he said.

Moreover, he selected USM due to the similar study program he was carrying out, and it would make him aware of the differences between the two universities. Besides learning, Romi would also follow Culture Exchange to represent Indonesian culture, especially Lombok culture.

Asbah MHum, the Head of Collaboration division, appreciated the Kemdikbud program and was grateful that one UMMAT student passed. He also prompted the student to create good international relations and expected that a lot of students would follow the same program in the future.

UMM Reconducted International Conference

After succeeding in conducting the Internal Conference on Education and Psychology (ICEduPsy) a few weeks ago, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) reconducted the 2nd international conference entitled International Conference on Humanities and Social Science (ICHSoS). The agenda was initiated by the Faculty of Social Science and Political Issues on Sustainable Development in Post Covid-19 Crisis. Eighty writers in various countries were involved in the conference.

The conference was the critical effort of the academicians to handle the post-pandemic condition. In his remarks, the Vice-Rector I UMM, Prof Dr Syamsul Arifin, MSi, explained besides being a solution due to the pandemic crisis, ICHSoS also aimed to broaden the research project,” the UMM professor said.

In the opening and plenary session, ICHSoS invited the social science experts from Poland, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The expert staff, Prof Ravik Karsidi became the keynote speaker represented the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs. Prof Ravik explained that social science has various opportunities in post-pandemic treatment.

“If the medical science assessed Covid-19 as the deadly virus, in the sociology perspective, the Covid-19 pandemic creates new knowledge because of the natural transformation mutation. The Covid-19 was constructed as a chance to develop endogen policies to support the social innovation based on the local potencies,” Prof Ravik said.

In the panel session on the second day, eighty writers from various countries presented online their research results. From 80 participants divided into 12 breakout rooms in Zoom, Cosmas Gatot Haryono was selected as the Best Speaker for his paper entitled “Covid-19 Murals: Autocritic Messages From Society In The Public Sphere. Meanwhile, Salina Nen, Fauziah Ibrahim, and Norulhuda were awarded the Best Paper. Their research was entitled Depression, Anxiety, and Fear During The Covid-19 Pandemic Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia.
