UM Metro Students Won Silver Medals on International Taekwondo Competition

Nabil Chaniago is a Metro professional taekwondo athlete. Currently, Nabil is studying in the second semester at the English Education Study Program (PBI) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro). According to Nabil, since the COVID-19 pandemic, there had never been Taekwondo Competition as usual. But it did not dampen his enthusiasm to continue practicing. “I continue to practice regularly as usual even though there is no competition, but yesterday I tried to take part in a virtual Taekwondo competition for the Poomsae (art) category,” he said.

Nabil’s competition was the Online Indonesia International Biho Championship 2021, on April 12, 2021. This competition was participated by several countries and only specifically for the Poomsae (art) category. “Alhamdulillah, I won a silver medal; I didn’t expect it because my usual basic is fighting. Before participating in the competition, I practiced hard to learn Poomsae, and the results did not disappoint,” said Nabil.

Of course, this is not the first achievement for this black belt and Kukkiwon II owner. He also often won competitions at the regional and national levels. In 2017, Nabil won 1st place at the open national championship in Palembang. Nabil admitted that he started actively practicing Taekwondo in his 2nd grade of Elementary School.

In addition, the student who was born in Metro, February 25, 2002, is also active as a Taekwondo coach at the dojang Gedta Taekwondo. He is proud that he has also guided his juniors to participate in national-level competitions. [] UM Metro Community Relation

The Institute of Health and Technology (IKesT) Muhammadiyah Palembang held the inauguration of the Heads in several study programs, including the Head of Bachelor (S-1) in Information Systems, the Head of Diploma IV in Medical Laboratory Technology, and the Head of Diploma III in Physiotherapy. In signing the inauguration form and the official record, the Rector of IKesT Muhammadiyah Palembang witnessed the agenda. In his remarks, he explained, “A leader should be aware of the market needs,” He gave an example in promoting IKesT graduates to be absorbed in hospitals and many other institutions.

UMSU Supports The Local Potency in Jaring Halus Village

The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) UMSU visited the fostered village in Jaring Halus, Wednesday (02/06). Syaiful Amri Saragih, the Head of LPPM, explained that the visitation was the follow-up of the Jaring Halus request.

The Village Chief of Jaring Halus, H Usman SPd, mentioned his expectation for UMSU assistance in the natural resource potency development starting from the management and marketing comprised using Jeruju leaves as tea, berembang, and Nipah fruit as the high-value products. He also requested that UMSU empower the community to produce handicrafts (tanjak, the modern Malay clothes) and the typical souvenirs of Jaring Halus. “The management of waste to be high-value products currently becomes a serious problem,” he said.

Usman expected that UM Sumatera Utara could develop the human resources to motivate youth to pursue higher education through scholarship. Currently, Jaring Halus already has a Community Reading Room with no human resources. Therefore we need UMSU assistance to help. Usman also hoped that UMSU could facilitate publication about Jaring Halus’s history.

Religious Department of English Student Association (ESA) of the Institute for Islamic Studies Muhammadiyah Sinjai (IAIM Sinjai) succeeded in conducting the training of applying rules for reciting the Qur’an (tajwid) on its first day. The Qur’an Learning Center (TPQ) of Kampung Quran Lappa Anni in Massaile Village, Tellulimpoe, becomes the location of the agenda. Ustadz Munir, the founder, delivered a speech to open the ceremony. Several daily boards of ESA have also attended the event on Wednesday (02/06).

ESA IAIM also distributed the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) IAIM Sinjai assistance. Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held the Covid-19 vaccination successfully. It also embraced interfaith leaders with over 1,200 participants of the religious figures in Medan, North Sumatera. The first Interfaith vaccination was conducted on 10 April and 1 Mei 2021. Meanwhile, the second dose of vaccine was held in the Postgraduate Campus of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in Denai street, Saturday (29/5), which also became the closing agenda.

The vaccination resulted in the appreciation of several interfaith leaders associated with the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) Medan. Moreover, the Head of FKUB Medan, Ustadz H Ilyas Halim, MPd, awarded the Rector of UMSU, Prof Dr Agussani MAP, due to the success agenda of interfaith vaccination. The religious leaders who appraised this interfaith vaccination not only participated in the governmental program but also succeeded in creating a togetherness spirit. “I appreciated UMSU which facilitated this interfaith vaccination. Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu held Bachelor Judicium and Bachelor Graduation Period May 2021 both online and offline. Seven hundred seventy-six graduates attended both the judicial procession and the graduation ceremony in Campus IV of UM Bengkulu (24-30 May). The graduation was conducted on Monday-Wednesday (31-2/6).

In his remarks, Dr. Sakroni, M.Pd as the Rector of UM Bengkulu, congratulated the graduates on accomplishing the Bachelor’s degree and hoped for the graduates’ success in the near future. Universitas Muhamadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) continues to develop rapidly. Besides having excellent quality, the campus development also keeps moving forward. Indonesia Coordinating Ministry (Menko) Human Development and Cultural Affairs (PMK), Prof Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP, said that his visit to UMP aimed to survey the new building. He also delivered his speech of 56th Milad, and officially launched Banyumas Institute (Banjoemaasch Instituut Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto), Friday (28/5).

“Congratulation, it is very phenomenal and as said by the Vice-Regent, UMP Tower Building is the highest building in Purwokerto,” he said. Previously, the President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof Dr KH Haedar Nashir MSi, officially launched the UMP Tower Building KH AR Fahrudin online.

“The building is the highest building in Purwokerto. Therefore, with the gratitude and proud, the building complete all facilities and infrastructure of UMP in implementing an excellent Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institution and providing the best service to the community,” he said.

Haedar also said that the building launching momentum should be completed with persistence, sincerity, and vision from the Rector and all UMP academic civitas to make UMP the progressive and excellent Muhammadiyah higher institution.

Previously, the Rector of UMP, Dr Jebul Suroso, in his remarks, explained that in becoming the World Class University, UMP keeps targetting to increase the rank of University significantly. “Alhamdulillah, UMP has succeeded to reach 39th World Top Islamic University, 59th Indonesia Top University in Unirank (4icu) version, and the 50th Private Top University in Webometrics version,” he said.

Moreover, The Teacher Certification Program (PPG) also reached the highest percentage in Competency Assessment of PPG (UKMPPG) 2020 for Higher Education Institutions (PTM), while at the national level, PPG Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMP was in the 4th place. “Currently, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto had six International classes, excellent department, and 2021 ISO certification process, 2023 International Accreditation Process and Excellent Accreditation Process of 2022 BAN-PT,” he said.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto is concerned with the students and communities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The activities and financial aids are displayed to support the students’ and communities’ load, summarized in the 2020/2021 humanitarian cooperatives movement. The programs include Covid-19 Quarantine Shelters, food stall provision for the affected communities to Covid-19 pandemic, Hand Sanitizer production distributed to the community, and the disbursement of 100 groceries package to Banyumas society. “The total disbursement to handle Covid-19 pandemic of UMP in April – May 2020 is 3.004.409.575,” he said.

In the collaboration, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto had 84 MoU and 19 Moa on several continents worldwide and had 284 International students and 24 International research. Dr Jebul explained that the improvement of facilities and infrastructure development would continue to be established along with future needs and development. “Various facilities were fixed to keep UMP quality so that it can be beneficial optimally. The new facilities establishment was needed to provide adequate academic and administrative services to all UMP academic civitas and stakeholders,” he concluded.

UM Jambi Distribute Groceries As Social Service To Welcome Ramadhan

Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi (UM Jambi) held social service program by distributing groceries. The agenda was conducted last Saturday (8/5). It was a social service welcoming Ramadhan 1442 H. Moreover, UM Jambi also represented their concern to Jambi citizens who celebrate the fasting month amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi, Dr Nurdin SE ME, opened UM Jambi Distribute Grogeries agenda. Afterwards, Nurdin also represented UM Jambi to do a symbolic distribution. “The agenda also becomes a contribution of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi to communities. I hope it can be a reward production (ladang pahala) for us all,” Nurdin said in his speech. The donation was collected from academic civitas, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi students, TokoMU Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi, Bank Indonesia, and Bank Syariah Indonesia. To all donors, Nurdin also appreciated their sincere intention. “Without the support from the donor who sincere to lend their hand for the community, this agenda can not be implemented,” he said.

The Chief of RT 13 and RT 14, Simpang IV Sipin became a representative to receive the groceries as the symbolic distribution. Besides the citizens in RT 13 and RT 14, the groceries beneficiaries were the citizens living in the surrounding campus, the social workers, Fastabiqul Khairat orphanage, Muhammadiyah, and ‘Aisyiyah orphanage and all communities in the community need.

UAD Human Resource Division Held Journal Camp

Journal Camp Program aimed to accelerate the functional position of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan lecturers. Moreover, it can refresh the lecturer’s competence to have additional skills and knowledge about journaling. That was a statement from Triantoro Safaria, PhD, when he opened the Journal Camp agenda of the second and third batch in Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) campus in Kapas street 9 Semaki, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta, Thursday-Friday (27-28/05).

The Head of UAD Human Resource Division, Triantoro continued the program as a responsibility and attention from the division to the lecturers. Moreover, in her remarks, Dr Norma Sari, SH, MHum, as the Vice-Rector of Human Resource Affairs, appreciated the lecturers’ attendance at this meeting. “Shortly, the program should be continued and sustained. It aimed to support academic position acceleration of the lecturers in UAD,” she said as reported on the official Universitas Ahmad Dahlan site.

Norma expected that the program would improve the educators’ quality in UAD. Besides it related to the journal, the program also became a consultation session for the lecturers to propose the academic promotion.
