UMKO As The Only Campus in Lampung Received Funding for Distance Learning

Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi, once again, got a prideful achievement this year. Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi (UMKO), the University in Lampung established in the last two years, succeeded in receiving financial support from Kemdikbud in implementing Distance Learning. UM Kotabumi became the only representative from Higher Education Institutions in Lampung Province. This achievement was the second funding after UMKO received a similar achievement in the last 2020.

The coordinator for the proposal submission of distance learning UMKO, Nur Mei Ningsih, M.Pd explained that the agenda’s output in the previous year was twelve educational videos. Meanwhile, this year, it was increased the video quantity output by 20 educational videos. “Alhamdulillah, from the proposal we have submitted, UMKO which was represented by Indonesian Language and Literature Department succeeded to pass and got the Kemdikbud funding. This is a good achievement in the last two years. Hopefully, we can carry out the trust given to us and get useful outcomes for all parties,” Nur Mei Ningsih said.

The funding from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology was announced on the official website of dikti.kemdikbud.go.id. A hundred and one higher education institutions in Indonesia succeeded in getting funding from the proposal they have submitted in this agenda.

UM Sumbar – The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia awarded to Lima Puluh Kota regency, Sumatera Barat province with Anugerah Pesona Indonesia (API) in 2020. The award could be achieved because it established and maintained the branding. The branding influenced tourism as a traditional and cultured regency. Lima Puluh Kota Regency won 2nd place in the Popular Customary Village in Kampung Sarugo in Koto Tinggi.

The team of Anugerah Pesona Indonesia was directly accepted by the Lima Puluh Kota Regent, Safaruddin Dt Bandaro Rajo in Thursday, 20 May 2021 which was centralized in Inaya Bay Komodo Hotel, Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Kampuang Sarugo, a UM Sumbar fostered-village of tourism destination could be optimized to be Customary Village in the last 2019.

The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumbar, Dr Riki Saputra MA explained that the university would always support and collaborate academically in developing related sectors nearby. Besides being a fostered village of UM Sumbar, Kampung Sarugo could be a Smart Branding of Lima Puluh Kota regent at the end of 2019 through Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo). “We will continue the collaborative works for the academic studies documents in developing the existing sector,” Riki concluded. 518 UMPR Students Were Involved In Community Service

Five hundred and eighteen students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya (UMPR) were officially deployed for the 45th Community Service Program (KKN), Saturday (22/05). The online agenda was opened directly by the Rector of UMPR, Dr Sonedi, MPd. While the Vice-Rector I, Dr Hj Laksminarti, SH MH, the Vice-Rector III, Dr Norcahyono, SPdI, MHI, and the personnel of Institute for Research and Community Services (LP2M) also attended this meeting.

The Committee Chief of the 45th KKN, Endang Sri Suyati, MPd, mentioned that UMPR deployed the KKN participants in 5 different regions/cities in Central Kalimantan. “The 45th Community Service Program is officially launched by the Rector of UMPR and after the opening ceremony, every Field Supervisors will discharge their students in each location on 26-27 June 2021,” she said.

These 518 students were divided into 45 groups, including Lamandau Regency in Ethnography Scheme (3 groups), Seruyan Regency in Ethnography Scheme (3 groups), Seruyan Regency in Special Scheme (2 groups), and Pulau Pisau Regency in Muhammadiyah Service Scheme (3 groups), Katigaan Regency in Muhammadiyah Service Scheme (3 groups), and Palangka Raya Regency in Muhammadiyah Service Scheme (31 groups).

Meanwhile, the Rector of UMPR, Dr Sonedi, MPd, in his remarks, motivated the students to maintain the excellent name of the alma mater, keep the encouragement to demonstrate creativity amid pandemic, and contribute to the Tambun Bungai (one hero from Dayak Kalimantan) land in Central Kalimantan.

“For the previous semester studies on campus, it is the right time to implement what the students learned on campus. The campus life might not be so complex as in everyday life, so adaptation in the new environment and new situation should be carried out. Let us learn from real life because the true education is placed in the society,” said Dr Sonedi.

Exploring Local History by Department of History Science of UM Metro

Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro) held “Hunting History Metro Area” on Sunday (23/05). The agenda aimed to explore the traces of local history in Metro. The Department of History Science of UM Metro and historical activists also presented at the event. The campus ambassador of UM Metro, Aulia Mutiara Putri, attended the trace of history exploration and delivered a brief explanation of colonial history in Metro.

The exploration route includes Samber Park, Metro Public Work Services building, Merdeka Park of Metro City. The exploration was continued to the District Office, previously occupied for wedana (the officials in the Dutch era), and the house of Alm Joyoharjo. Lastly, the trace of history investigation had finished in an old rice mill of bedeng 21. The participants applied a strict health protocol by wearing masks and washing hands in the implementation.

The Lecturer of History Department UM Metro, Umi Hartati, explained that the agenda enhanced historical literacy competence. In his opinion, the exploration ensured participants tangibly understood the history. It was highlighted by the Chairman of the History Science Student Association, Utara Setia Nugraha. Afterwards, Utara mentioned the agenda as an impetus because of community involvement.

In his interview, as reported on UM Metro site, Utara explained the benefits of historical exploration. “The Hunting History might become a reference and a study material for the students and local community about the local history of Metro. I hope that the agenda will be continually conducted,” he said. The historical activist of Samber Park Metro, Marisa Meliana, shared information about Samber Park’s history. Moreover, the other activists also informed more. The communities involved were Metro Heritage, Beranda Desa, Pensil Bersejarah, Timurjo Heritage, and Arsenik.

Groceries Distribution of UM Palembang As Social Concern

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) lecturer, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (UM Palembang) distributed groceries assistance for the elderly, poor, and orphans in Palembang city, Thursday (06/05). The agenda was an implementation of community service programs. The market areas in Palembang became the grocery distribution location. The FEB lecturers designed a group for Sedekah Rombongan (a group charity) One Day One Thousand (ODOT).

Previously, the FEB lecturer team offered collaboration with Komunitas Lebah (Lebah Community), a community maintained by the FEB final-year students. This community helped the ODOT charity group to survey the elderly, poor, orphans, and orphanages data. Moreover, the community also arranged the technical grocery distribution. In their programs, as reported on the official UM Palembang site, Lebah Community also works in social community services.

Muhammad Fahmi, SE MSi, one volunteer in the ODOT charity group, mentioned the background of the agenda. The grocery distribution became a deep expression of gratitude from FEB lecturers, especially to celebrate Ramadan month 1442 H. Because Ramadan was an important moment to do good deeds as social concern and community services. Besides the grocery disbursement, the community also held an iftar gathering. Moreover, the ODOT charity group preferred positive activities to share with others. Respectively, Fitantina, Kholilah, and Kurnia were responsible in positions as the Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary of the ODOT charity group.

Muhammadiyah Council Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) held the Fifth Discussion Series of Muhammadiyah Studies. On this occasion, the discussion raised the Da’wah Muhammadiyah issue. In the implementation, Monday (3/6), the official CHERD Youtube account broadcasted the agenda. The resource persons consist of several researchers who received the research grant of the Covid-19 scheme. They were Suhendi Syam from UM Buton, Sitti Magfirah Makmur from UM Gorontalo, and Mursak from UM Sinjai. Meanwhile, Budi Asyari became the moderator for this occasion.

Previously, Lukman Hakim, as a speaker, explained a bit about the theme. Based on the existing theme, the discussion raised the role and strategy of the Muhammadiyah issue as an organization and Islamic civil society. “Especially about the contributions in local communities in handling the Covid-19 pandemic,” Lukman Hakin continued. Afterwards, Budi introduced the researchers one by one.

At first, Suhendi opened the research collaboration with Dina Komalasari and Muslim. The research entitled “The Muhammadiyah Role in Handling Covid-19 Pandemic Through Preventive, Persuasive, and Spiritual in the Southeast Sulawesi”. Afterwards, the research result of “Da’wah Management of Muhammadiyah Regional Board (PDM) Sinjai Regency in Covid-19 Pandemic”. It was a research result from Mursak and Kiki Rasmala Sani. Lastly, Sitti Magfirah Makmur presented her research entitled “The Contribution of Muhammadiyah Province Board (PWM) Gorontalo towards The Policy Governance of Gorontalo Government in Handling Covid-19 Pandemic,”

After the three researchers presented their research, Budi suggested several inputs for the researchers’ presentation to prioritize the research output information first. “It is beneficial to attract audience attention,” he said. STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo As The Best Private University of Research Grants

Previously, Institute for Higher Education Institution Service (LLDIKTI) Regional X announced 81 Private Universities which received research grants and social services. The agenda was directly announced by the Head of LLDIKTI Regional X, Prof Dr Herri, MBA, who handed the 2021 Research Grants and Social Services Contracts over to STKIP Muhammadiyah Muaro Bungo online Thursday (6/5).

Prof Herri announced the Best Private Universities for the highest number of research grants in 2021. In the academic program, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat had the highest number of 15 subjects. Meanwhile, STKIP Muhammadiyah Muaro Bungo achieved 14 topics, and Universitas Dharmas Indonesia had 12 issues.

He also admitted that the higher education institution performance through Tridharma continued to grow. Not only to teach and share the knowledge but also to apply and benefit in everyday life. “Congratulation for the research proposal and social services in 2021 funding,” he said.

By this achievement, STKIP Muhammadiyah Muaro Bungo award was impressive. It was the Best Champion II from the highest number of Research Grants funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2021 by a total of 14 topics in the Research Group of Academics Project in the Higher Education Institutions of LLDIKTI Regional X environment, Friday (6/5). LLDIKTI Regional X which represented by Taufiq presented the Award Certificate to STKIP Muhammadiyah Muaro Bungo.

The handing over of the Award Certificate and the Research Grant contract was directly received by the Academic Civitas leaders of STKIP Muhammadiyah MB, Syafrial Anas, SE, MM; the Vice I, Renda Lestari, SPd, MEd; the Vice II, Harkam Tujantri MKom; and also the representatives of STKIP Muhammadiyah MB staffs.

“We deserve to appreciate the academic achievement of STKIP Muhammadiyah MB for the Best Champion II of Research Grants in the Regional X Academic Institutions. The contribution from all STKIP Muhammadiyah MB lecturers became a big role in researches. However, we can not be complacent, because of our huge responsibility for managing the grants,” Syafrial Anas, SE, MM said.

On this opportunity, the academic staff also expressed their excitement about the award. “We are grateful and congratulate STKIP Muhammadiyah MB leaders to give the support for all lecturers to do research so STKIP Muhammadiyah MB becomes the Best Champion II Research Grant of the Private Campus. UM Jambi Received Simlitabmas Research Grant

Last Thursday (06/05), the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi (UM Jambi) received a research grant contract. The research grant was from the Informational System of Research and Community Services (Simlitabmas) program in 2021 from the Institute for the Higher Education Service (LLDIKTI) Regional X. The event was located in the Rector’s Meeting Room. Both parties met offline; meanwhile, the Head of LLDIKTI Regional X, Prof Dr Herri MBA, opened the agenda online through Zoom Meeting.

The official UM Jambi site reported that the Simlitabmas is an informational system. It aimed to collect all lecturers’ activity in research and devotion based on the Higher Education Tridharma implementation. Five UM Jambi lecturers received this research funding which achieved two kinds of research, including the primary and coaching/single year capacity categories.

In this event, the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi, Dr Nurdin SE ME, was also accompanied by the Vice-Rector III of Student Affairs, Siswoyo, SE, MSi. UM Palopo Charitable Endowment: Sharing For Communities

The Student Executive Boards (BEM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Palopo (UM Palopo) distributed the groceries and ready-to-eat meals in UM Palopo Charitable Endowment. The student alliances in the Special Activity Unit and Student Activity Unit (UKK-UKM) also attended the agenda. The beneficiaries were the Sabbamparu people in Wara Utara district, Palopo city. This charitable activity entitled “Lapak Amal UM Palopo” was conducted on Sunday (02/05).

The Head of BEM Unmuh Palopo, Alfin, mentioned the event aims as the social concern of Unmuh Palopo students. “Moreover, the agenda was coincided with Ramadhan month to disseminate the goodness and hapiness,” he said as reported on Unmuh Palopo site. The Head of Public Relations Unmuh Palopo, Suparni Sampetan SE MM, also delivered his remarks. Suparni explained that Unmuh Palopo had conducted the charity annually. Afterwards, he also expected the groceries to benefit the beneficiaries due to the pandemic. “Especially, in the Covid-19 pandemic which currently happens,” he added.

The Village Head of Subbamparu, Nanih Handayani, S.Sos welcomed the visitation. On behalf of Subbamparu people, Nanih appreciated all Unmuh Palopo students for the charity. From the total groceries of 40 packages, UM Palopo students distributed 35 packages for the Subbamparu village, and the rest five others were dispersed to other regions.

Research Dissemination of CHERD Discussed Human Rights

Muhammadiyah Council Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) held the Fourth Discussion Series of Muhammadiyah Studies last Thursday (29/04). The discussion was conducted in the form of RisetMu research dissemination in the Covid-19 scheme. On this occasion, the panel raised the Human Rights, Politics, and Freedom of Expression issue. The resource persons of the discussion were Satria Unggul from UM Surabaya, Karyanti from UM Palangka Raya, and Sheila Amnesti from UM Purworejo. Amika Wardana became the moderator for this occasion. The CHERD broadcasted directly on the official Youtube account.

At first, Sheila Amnesti explained the research conducted with Dr. Muhammad Zaki Mubarrak. The study entitled “The Reconstruction of Health Workers Protection in Handling Covid-19”. In her presentation, Sheila explained that the government had a regulation to overcome pandemic effects through the incentive and many others. However, the implementation was far from optimal. “Because there are still a few beneficiaries of the incentive. Fifty-three of local government did not withdraw yet for the health workers,” Sheila said.

Secondly, Karyanti presented “The False Information of Covid-19 in The Social Media”. Karyanti collaborated with Dr. Laksiminarti and Mita Sari, which discussed the semiotics of Covid-19 prevention messages in the official FB account of Muhammadiyah Central Kalimantan to prevent false information. Satria Unggul explained the research conducted with Achmad Hariri. The study themed “Muhammadiyah and Mitigation Risk of Covid-19 Bansos Corruption”. The scope of the study was the role of Muhammadiyah East Java in this issue and the anti-corruption movement through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach.
