Prof Haedar Reminded KH Ahmad Dahlan teachings in Muhammadiyah 109th-Anniversary Commemoration

Pandemic and national problems could be solved simultaneously if all parties united in one frame for Indonesia and in Bhineka Tunggal Ika ‘Unity in Diversity’ spirit. Indonesia would be failed to rise and progress if several parties were scattered and grievances. That was a statement of Prof Haedar Nashir, the President of Muhammadiyah Central Board, in the 109th-Anniversary Commemoration offline in UM Yogyakarta Sportorium, Thursday (18/11). By the theme “Optimistic In Tackle The Covid-19 Pandemic: To Disseminate Fundamental Values”, the commemoration was attended by President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, accompanied by the Ministries of Indonesia Maju Cabinet online and broadcast from the State Palace.

Prof Haedar Nashir mentioned the key to tackling pandemic and solving nations’ problems was determination and perseverance followed by sincerity, honesty, trustworthiness, and systematic steps in seeking the solution. The pandemics could be placed in several dimensions, including iman (faith), tauhid (oneness of God), and hablumminallah (relationship with God). The pandemic also becomes a universal problem that could provide lessons including the fundamental values, namely tauhid values in pro-humanity, ennobling humankind, kindship, and togetherness, fondness, earnest endeavor, knowledge, and development. “This is a momentum improving da’wah (Islamic propagation), tajdid (renewal), and ijtihad (attempts) to create enlightenment transformation and progress as an excellent Islamic movement in local, national, and global,” he said. Prof Haedar also prompted all Muhammadiyah cadres to keep sincere in undergoing its teachings, commit, serve, maintain unity, be productive, and be progressive. “We need to consider KH Ahmad Dahlan message for us; I confide Muhammadiyah to you with an expectation that you can keep and maintain Muhammadiyah wholeheartedly so that Muhammadiyah can develop in infinite time,” he said.

The remarks delivered by Prof Haedar also continued by the signing of inscriptions, including Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), Universitas Siber Muhammadiyah (SiberMu), Muhammadiyah Australia College (MAC), and the Dasron Hamid Research and Innovation Center (UMY) establishment. In the 109th-anniversary commemoration reception, Muhammadiyah has also endowed 2021 awards in three categories: Health and Humanity, Social Economic, and Education and Technology.
