Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held the second National Seminar of Entrepreneur (SNK) themed “Small and Medium Enterprises Resilience in The Covid-19 Pandemic” last Saturday (23/10). The Center of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubator (PUSKIIBI) UMSU held this online seminar and broadcasted in the mini-studio of UMSU Postgraduate program, Damai street, Medan.
The seminar aimed to publish the research and community service results among lecturers, students, and practitioners. Vice-Rector III, Assoc Prof Rudianto MSi; Head of PUSKIIBI UMSU, Assoc Prof. Hj. Dewi Andriany and her team attended the seminar. Afterwards, the speakers, M Setiawan Kusmulyono MM and Mohammad Arkham Chaidar Jantra presented the materials in front of 175 participants in the virtual room of Zoom Meeting.
Rudanto delivered the speech, as reported on the official UMSU site. “This (UMSU) campus has an incubator room to produce and create tough entrepreneurs and businessmen,” he said. UMSU students had participated in entrepreneurial activities, even in the pandemic. For example, in the Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Program (PKMI), Indonesian Student Micro-credentials (KMMI), Students Creativity Week (PKM), and any other entrepreneurship curriculums.
M Setiawan Kusmulyono said that Student Activity Units (UKM) should have the resiliency or the ability to deal with external challenges. One of them was Business Continuity Planning (BCP), which could ensure the enterprise could work in the crisis. Afterwards, Assoc Prof Hj Dewi Andriyany mentioned her expectation of this national seminar output. “I hope the participants understand the knowledge and comprehend all of contributing ways in developing Indonesian entrepreneurship,” she said.
