Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) as a commitment to collaborate. The signing procession had conducted offline on Thursday (10/03) in the VIP Room of UMSU – Kapten Muchtar Basri street, 3, Medan.

The collaboration was related to implementing the Tridharma (three values) of higher education and Engineering Profession program establishment in Engineering Faculty UMSU. It aimed to strengthen the institutional quality and both national and international networking. Also, it can synergize Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) to support Independent Learning Independent Campus and excellent accreditation.

The Rector of UMSU, Prof Dr. Agussani, MAP appreciated the UMS visitation and collaboration. “Thank you for UMS Rector attendance in UM Sumatera Utara. UMS is a prideful campus for Muhammadiyah institutions from the human resource and networking aspects,” he said. Moreover, he also expected the collaboration can be expanded to faculties level.

“Related to establishing the Engineering Profession program, we agreed that the Rector UMS is the most suitable candidate to be the Advisory Board. Later, we can process the legal procedure from the Institution of Engineers Indonesia,” said Prof. Agussani.

Responding to the expectation, the Rector of UMS, Prof Dr. Sofyan Anif MSi had the same perspective as UMSU Rector to maintain the collaboration. “We are also committed. Later, the collaboration can be continued to other fields of study,” said Prof. Sofyan Anif.

Furthermore, in the report delivered by the Dean of Engineering Faculty UMSU, Munawar Alfansury Siregar, S.T., M.T., the collaboration between UMSU and UMS became one effort to encourage various potencies in the faculty and both institutions. [] CHERD
