Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) received certification from the Information System Agency (LSI) on Wednesday (23/02). The ISO 27001:2013 Certification has been achieved for their information security system. The certification submission was located in AR Fakhruddin A Building, UMY. The ISO 27001: 2013 is the latest icon of the certification series for ISO 2700 released since 2013.
ISO 27001 is an international standard related to the Information Security Management System (SMKI). The management system provides a general description of what an organization or agency should do to implement the information security system. It aimed to portray the information security concept up to 2024.
Dr Ir Wahyufi ST MT IPM, the Head of LSI UMY, explained that these networking security efforts support quality improvement and maintenance in UM Yogyakarta. “As a higher education institution, UMY continually maintains the implementation of information security. By this certification, we will keep elevating the quality of UMY in terms of information security system,” said Wahyudi, as reported on the UMY site.
To achieve the certification, UM Yogyakarta has prepared it for nearly a year. Wahyudi expects that with this ISO certification, the management of the information system would improve. “With the accomplishment of the latest ISO certification, I hope that the management of the information system will be better. Later on, I hope we can develop based on the ISO standardization,” he said.
