UMY Lecturer Becomes The Youngest Professor in Government Science

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) crowned a professor again achieved by Prof. H. Eko Priyo Purnomo, S.IP., M.Si., M.Res., Ph.D., as UMY Lecturer in Governmental Science. The appointment of the functional rank for the youngest Professor in Government Science according to the Decree of Ministry of Education, Culture, research, and Technology Number 65203/MPK.A/KP.05.01/2021, which directly handed over in AR Fachruddin A building, 1st floor, Saturday (09/10).

Bhimo Widyo Andoko, S.H., M.H. as Head of LLDIKTI V DIY Ad Interim, in his speech, hoped that the academic rank promotion could be motivation for the other Muhammadiyah youths. He also gave Prof. Eko a message to keep working on his academic works. Dr. Sukirman, The Treasurer of the Daily Advisory Board (BPH) UMY, explained that as the highest academic rank in the higher education institutions, the Professor’s appointment would be a challenge. “On the one hand, Prof. Eko has succeeded in being a Professor. But on the other hand, it has to be a challenge to guide his partners in lecture,” he said, as reported on the official UMY website.

In line with this, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., IPM., the Rector of UMY, explained the rank achieved by Prof. Eko was not only for personal interests. To be a professor was a mandate to guide the partners in lectures to be professors instead of being an obstacle. “The UMY lecturers have remarkable potential.
