Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI) UNIMMA held an international seminar themed “Islamic Study and Islamic Economics in Society 5.0 Era”. The agenda held online prepared the graduates with knowledge from a global perspective, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNIMMA, Dr. Suliswiyadi, MAg, opened the seminar and explained the seminar aimed to refresh the participant’s knowledge based on the current condition and challenge. “In the academic context, the Covid-19 should be analyzed about how far it affected to the education development in its strategy and challenges. By the attendance of various nations participants, it was expected to provide the new perspective on Islamic studies reality,” he said on Thursday (11/02).

Assoc Prof Dr Mohamad Khairi Hj Othman, one of the resource persons, explained Islamic education and some highlights to align with the global transformations. “The focus is in Quality (Itqan), Excellence (Falah), Individual (Insan), Potential (Fardi) dan Aspiration (Izzah),” he said. In Era 5.0, currently, the students’ competencies necessary to master were Global Skills, Innovative & Creative Skills, Digital Technology Skills, and Interpersonal Skills.

At the end of agenda, it was stated in Islamic Education learning in Industrial Revolution Era 4.0 to 5.0, it requires the significant transformation and follows the global transformation. Various related aspects and elements discussed need more attention to ensure achieving the national education purpose. By applying that, Islamic Education might be seen as equal to the other subjects.

Also attended the three resource persons, Dr. Sariya Cheruvallil-Contractor as Assistant Professor Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations Coventry University, United Kingdom, (2) Assoc. Prof. Nassef Manabilang Adiong, PhD, from University of the Philippines Diliman, (3) Assoc.
