As an organization with its 109th-anniversary, Muhammadiyah actively contributes to maintaining and developing Indonesia. With the spirit for developing social life and communities’ education improvement, Muhammadiyah’s role is based on Islamic and humanitarian values.
Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) is one of thirteen councils formed by Muhammadiyah Central Board. Muhammadiyah CHERD continues to support Muhammadiyah service (AUM) improvement in education by managing Muhammadiyah – ‘Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) all over Indonesia.
Currently, Muhammadiyah CHERD has established 165 MHEIs comprised of 69 universities, 69 institutes, 3 academies, 18 specialized institutes, and 6 polytechnics. Six MHEIs have achieved excellent accreditation by BAN-PT, namely Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara.
Muhammadiyah CHERD encourages the implementation of Catur Dharma ‘Four Values’ Higher Education Institutions to focus on academics, research, community devotion, and Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies (AIK). Strengthening Islamic and Muhammadiyah values becomes MHEIs’ foundation to create a generation with Islamic and Muhammadiyah characters based on Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah.
To define the 109th-anniversary commemoration, Muhammadiyah CHERD continues to assist Muhammadiyah in committing and actively contributing to nations and countries in disseminating good deeds and values.
