Judicium of Graduate Program in STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan

STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan held a postgraduate judicial event on Monday (17/10). It was located in Ipukan Highland Resto. A total of 12 students from the Mathematics Study Program in the Academic Year 2021/2022 have officially graduated. The inauguration was stated in the reading of the Judicium Decree by the Head of the Academic Affairs of STKIP Muh Kuningan, Dr. Boby Agustan MPd. The student who graduated with honors was Gina Purwanti SPd with a GPA of 3.91.

The Head of STKIP Muh Kuningan, Nanan Abdul Manan, attended the judicial procession with Deputy Chair I of STKIP Muh Kuningan, Dr. Casnan MSi; Deputy Chair II of STKIP Muh Kuningan, Hermawan MSi; Head of Student Affairs and Alumni Division, Dedi Iskandar MPd; Homebase lecturers for Mathematics Study Program; Mathematics Study Program staff; and invited guests such as the Head of PGSD, PGPAUD, and PBSD Study Programs.

“On behalf of Mathematics department colleagues Academic Year 2021/2022, I highly appreciate STKIPMKu, the Head of the Mathematics Study Program, the Mathematics Lecturer, and the staff for the motivation, support, knowledge, and experience. It allows us to be at the Judiciary on this occasion. We apologize if, during the 4 years of study, we made mistakes, either intentionally or unintentionally. Hopefully, the Mathematics Study Program can be developed with all kinds of achievements,” said Gina in her short remarks.

Moreover, in his speech, Nanan mentioned that graduates should internalize self-appreciation, “Grow the mindset to continue to respect yourself. In facing the University of Life, master 3 things, namely Literacy, Numeration, and Character Education. From literacy, we must be able to produce creations, from numeration we must be able to predict, and from character education, we must be able to build a positive image for ourselves and others,” he said.

UMMAT Student Wins Udayana Chancellor Cup Gold

Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram (UMMAT) student won Udayana Chancellor Cup ended on Monday (17/10). The championship officially started on Tuesday (11/10) was located in Lila Bhuana Sports Center, Bali. The champion is Nurhamdi Said, a fifth-semester student of the Law Faculty, at UMMAT. He won gold for Tapak Suci (Muhammadiyah Martial Arts) in D Class.

In the first match, the elimination round, Nurhamdi beat I Gede Kurama Kanda Buwana, a State Polytechnic of Bali student. Nurhamdi also defeated I Komang Aditya Jaya Santanu, a Warmadewa University student in the second match. Two consecutive wins took him to the semifinal to beat Abdul Kohobir, a PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia student. And in the last round, Nurhamdi won the championship over Ibnul Karim from Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA).

A Silat trainer from West Nusa Tenggara, Mardiansyah, familiarly known as Coach Dega, had high expectations for Nurhamdi. He hoped that Nurhamdi could join the Student Sports Week (POMNAS). “There is no fixed composition who will join POMNAS as Pencak Silat athletes, but the records of an athlete should be considered,” he said.

Furthermore, he also mentioned that the more athletes will have chances to compete in prestigious events, the more experience they will achieve. It can be their mental preparation to face a national championship that is more prestigious. “New athletes have to improve (their ability). Especially in 2028, West Nusa Tenggara will host the National Sports Week,” he said.

Eko Sutrisno, his Tapak Suci coach, appreciated his students. He admitted that Nuhamdi Said has good potency and has achieved several championships, both local and national competitions. “This year, he has won several championships as UMMAT Student,” he ended.

To Support MSME Owners, UM Metro Lecturers Provide Design Training

Along with Mathematics Education students, Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro (UM Metro) lecturers provided promotional design training. It aimed to promote enterprises through Canva (an application) for the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) owners in Pasar Kreatif Rejomulyo Tangguh (PAK RT).

As facilitators of the training, Nurul Farida, MPd led the training as the chairwoman with her colleagues, Dr. Dwi Rahmawati, M.Pd; Ira Vahlia, M.Pd; Satrio Wicaksono, M.Pd; Nego Linuhung, M.Pd and five students from Mathematics department, UM Metro.

The training was organized from September to October, located in PAK RT, Rejomulyo, South Metro. It was followed by 15 participants, including the PAK RT members, the boards, and surrounding merchants. Suparmo, the chairman of PAK RT invited all MSME owners to motivate themselves in increasing their ability and skills to design promotion. “I have a high expectation for MSME owners to create their promotional design,” he said.

On the socialization, Nurul Farida, M.Pd delivered her materials on how to design the product and service promotion informatively and attractively. Nurul Farida also mentioned that to design through Canva, they should download the application first, and sign up by email. All designs could be created for free.

The speaker also explained the steps to create the promotional design by introducing every feature in the application. The participants who followed the training were highly enthusiastic. It was illustrated by how they kept focusing on the materials and actively discussing the promotion topic. They also directly applied every step in their mobile phones to practice themselves. In the end, every participant had their design to promote their products and service based on their creativity.

UMS Coordinates Meeting for World Peace Forum in Solo

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) will be one of the 8th World Peace Forum (WPF) organizers in collaboration with the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilization (CDCC) and Cheng Ho Multicultural Education Trust. The forum will be held on Sunday-Tuesday (16-18 November) in Solo city.

The world forum raises the theme “Human Fraternity and The Middle Path as the Foundation for A Peaceful, Just, and Prosperous World”. It also aims to discuss several issues related to world crises that will impact civilization.

“The purpose of the forum is to share various perspectives on the issues related to problems in world crises that potentially affect the world order,” said Andy Dwi Bayu Bawono, S.E., M.Si, Ph.D., the Committee Chief of WPF, Wednesday (19/10). To organize effectively, UMS as one of the organizers had conducted coordination amidst the 48th National Congress of Muhammadiyah (Muktamar) agendas.

As planned, the eighth WPF will be held in The Sunan Hotel, Solo. The participants will also follow the opening ceremony of Muktamar in Manahan Stadium. “In the meeting, we as the committee, especially the organizing committee, hope and try to prepare the forum optimally to successfully organize the world peace forum in Solo,” he added.

People who will attend the forum are religious figures from various countries, including Husein Kavazovic, Grand Mufti from Bosnia Herzegovina accompanied by Prof Din Syamsuddin, and many other influential religious figures in the world.

UMMI Seminar Supports Indonesia To Reach Food Self-Sufficiency

The Agribusiness department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) organized a seminar that raised the theme “Optimization of Agriculture Technology towards Granary of the World in 2045”, Tuesday (18/10). The seminar aimed to commemorate National Agriculture Day, World Food Day, and the Agribusiness department anniversary. It was located in UMMI Auditorium.

The Chairman of the Agribusiness Association, Supendi, mentioned the importance of this agenda. “Indonesians quest for food self-sufficiency. It means that the country should secure food sufficiency. In the implementation, we should align with farmers,” he said. He also expected the seminar would raise awareness among the participants about food security issues, especially recently, there were still agricultural problems that could be found.

Furthermore, the Head of the Agribusiness program, Dr. Ema Hilma Meilani SP MP appreciated the committee for organizing the seminar. “Alhamdulillah, Agribusiness contributed to the internal department and its students. I hope we keep innovating to seek the chance. If it is not us, who else can secure Indonesian granaries?,” she said. Besides raising awareness, it also became an institutional purpose in implementing the Four Values ‘Catur Dharma’.

UMG Management Workshop Emphasizes the Importance of Academic Ranks

Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) held a management workshop in Academic Ranks and Lecturers’ Credit System Measurement in Higher Education Service Institute (LLDikti) Regional VII on Monday (17/10). The collaborative program between UMG and LLDikti VII was located in Sang Pencerah Hall. As reported, forty participants followed the workshop.

On this occasion, the Rector of UMG, Nadhirotul Laily, SPsi, MPsi, Psikolog delivered her remarks by welcoming and greeting all participants. She also appreciated LLDikti VII for the trust in UMG to organize the workshop. “It is an important workshop as it can support the improvement of academic ranks for the lecturers,” she said. Besides Monday (17/10), the workshop would be held three times on 20, 24, and 28 October 2022.

“One of the indicators in accreditation is the Academic Ranks of the lecturers. Therefore, we, as the boards, encourage all lecturers to elevate their academic rank as concrete steps to improve the institutional accreditation,” she added.

The workshop was opened online by Prof. Dr. Dra. Dyah, SE, MM, the Head of LLDikti Regional VII through a Zoom Meeting. In the workshop, she also mentioned that the lecturers’ academic position/functional position (Jafa) was an expertise position at various levels, including the lecturer, Assistant Professor – Lower, Assistant Professor – Upper, Associate Professor, and Professor.

On this occasion, the speaker, Prof Dr. Dra Tatik Suryani SPsi, MM presented her materials by highlighting the importance of this academic position of the lecturers. Every lecturer should consider their discipline, teaching subjects, and scientific papers based on their latest field of study.

Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) held the first webinar series on Internalization from an Islamic Organization Perspective on Friday (14/10). On the webinar, Prof Dr. Abdul Mu’thi, the General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Central Board, and Prof Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, the President of Minhaj Ul Qur’an International became speakers. The webinar was also led by Ida Puspita, M.A.Res from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Yogyakarta. Before the webinar started, Prof Edy Suandi Hamid M.Ec delivered his remarks on behalf of the Chairman of CHERD, Prof Lincolin Arsyad Ph.D.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’thi MEd explained that the Muhammadiyah internationalization topic was relevant to the grand theme of the 48th Muktamar (National Congress) “To develop Muhammadiyah, to enlighten the universe”. He also mentioned that Islam is an important religion for all mankind, and Muhammadiyah, as an Islamic organization, exists to implement true Islam values.

Furthermore, he also hinted that for that reason, Muhammadiyah aims to enlarge the preaching internationally. “Now, we face a very serious challenges that portrayed Islam as a religion that is radical and closely related to violence. Having this Islamic internalization, Muhammadiyah tend to deliver Islam the otherwise, a peaceful Islam. Meanwhile, for the implementation, it has several challenges to face,” Prof. Abdul Mu’thi said.

Prof Dr Hussain also mentioned the several challenges of worldwide Islamic preaching. Those challenges, for the solution, became the reason to establish Minhaj Ul Qur’an International. It reflected the education value emphasized by Minhaj. One of the main principles is to support communities to access modern and religious learning.

“The other principle is to promote peace and harmony through learning the lesson from the life of Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h.,” he added. Moreover, Prof Hussain also highlighted that Minhaj Ul Qur’an supported the development and fulfillment of human rights and youth and women potency amidst global citizenship.

The participants of Leadership Training (LT) Batch 8 followed the field campus visit on several universities, including Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS), Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY). They were warmly welcomed by the Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif, M.Si, placed in the Main Building of Siti Walidah, Friday (14/10).

Prof Sofyan Anif reflected on his ability to run various programs and his capabilities in developing an institution. The institutional development was closely related to varied components and factors. “When we talk about a system, the main duties of the leaders is to make sure the whole components of the system can run effectively. And there is no component as the most important one,” said the Rector of UMS.

Prof Sofyan also agrees that leadership is one of the main factors to build an institution. “To establish an organization, it can not separate itself from its leaders. How great the plan is, without the implementation by the experienced leader, it can not be optimal,” he said.

He also flashed back to all challenges that UMS had faced. UMS had almost experienced the lack of doctoral lecturers and became a gray area. Therefore, the program to elevate doctors became the priority back then. “Currently, we have seen the result,” he said in front of 15 Leadership Training participants.

Offers Benefits, UHAMKA Pension Fund Wins Award in 2021 ADPI Award

Pension Fund (Dapen) for Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof DR HAMKA (UHAMKA) employees received an award as the Employer Pension Fund (DPPK) – Fixed Benefit Pension Program (PPMP) as the second best performance in 2021 on the category of Fixed Assets less than or equal to 100 Billion on the 2021 Indonesian Pension Fund Association (ADPI) Award. This award became the second award that UHAMKA received after the previous year in the second-best performance in 2020.

In Pullman-Ibis Grand Central Hotel, Bandung, the award was directly received by the Rector of Uhamka, Prof Gunawan Suryoputro accompanied by Faizal Ridwan Zamzany as the Principal Director of Dapen UHAMKA, Wednesday (12/10).

The program was organized to commemorate the 37th ADPI anniversary through the National Seminar that raised the theme ‘Strengthening the Good Governance and Risk Management of Pension Fund’ and organized the ADPI Award as an appreciation of ADPI to all Pension Fund programs in Indonesia.

The Rector of Uhamka, who is also the founder of Dapen UHAMKA, mentioned that they had the responsibility to manage pension funds for all stakeholders with competency, efficiency, and transparency. He also expected that the award could become an encouragement to improve and develop as an institution that offers considerable benefits, especially for its employees,” Gunawan said.

On the other hand, Faizal as the Principal Director was grateful for the award received by UHAMKA. It motivated him to elevate its management to raise employees’ welfare after their retirement.

“Dapen Uhamka also appreciates all employees for trusting us to manage the fund. This award becomes a motivation to elevate the good governance in managing pension funds for the welfare of our employees after their retirement,” Faizal added.

UMKO Welcomes Guest Lecturer To Discuss The Role of Press

Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi (UMKO) welcomed a guest lecturer, Herimaulana SH, on Thursday (13/10). Herimaulana SH is on the board of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) North Lampung. To welcome him, the Dean of Law and Social Science Faculty (FHIS), Suwardi SH MH CM CPCLE attended on the first floor of C Building, FHIS. Also attending the lecture, Dr Slamet Haryadi SH MHum and Lovia Evanne SKom MIKom, the Head of the Communication Science Department 

UMKO warmly welcomed Herimaulana, SH as the guest lecturer on the Interpersonal Communication subject. It was presented by Herimaulana by discussing “The Role of Press in Educating Indonesian People”. By presenting his material, he was also accompanied by the Head of the Communication Science Department and the Chairman of IMAKOM.

The Chairman of PWI North Lampung, M. Rozi Ardiansyah mentioned that the collaboration between PWI and UMKO became their together insistence. For educating Indonesian people, the role of the press is important due to accurate information. 

“We highly appreciate our partnership in offering us the chance to be the guest lecturer in interpersonal communication on the role of the press in educating people,” M Rozi said. He also believed that PWI and our seniors contributed to being reliable journalists and shared their experiences with UMKO students.
