Syafrial Anas Officially Reappointed As UMMUBA Rector

Dr. Muhammad Samsudin, S.Ag., the Vice Secretary of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) inaugurated Syafrial Anas, SE. MM. as the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo (UMMUBA) for 2022-2026 in Amaris Hotel, Bungo regency, Jambi on Monday (01/08).

Syafrial Anas, S.E., M.M reappointed to lead UMMUBA that previously became the Chairman of STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo which transformed to be a university in 2022. In his remarks, Syafrial Anas mentioned that UMMUBA would synergize with the Bungo government to elevate the human resource quality. Without the high quality, it will affect good local development indicators in economics, socio-culture, and health. So we should believe that the key to the success and development of the nations is related to the human resource factor in graduates’ achievement.

It required determinations and agreements in producing talented graduates, but also multi-talented graduates. Producing multi-talented graduates needs persistent efforts. “In our structural organization, we have arranged divisions so our lecturers are qualified and improve soft skills,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that they should collaborate to implement good programs and ideas. “It is possible that we have international students. In this term, we need support from the Bungo government and Jambi government,” he said.

Dr. Muhammad Samsudin, S.Ag., M.Pd inaugurated the UMMUBA Rector and congratulated him. He also mentioned the progressive Muhammadiyah and prompted UMMUBA civitas elevating qualities to be ready to develop as other Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions.

KIP Management Assistance From LLDikti In UM Buton

Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton (UM Buton) followed the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) Management Assistance on Friday (29/07), as reported on UM Buton site. The assistance was conducted especially for the private universities under the Higher Education Service Institutes (LLDikti) Regional IX in Southeast Sulawesi. Forty-six universities followed the assistance hybrid in Zoom Meeting and UM Buton Meeting Room.

The assistance from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) LLDikti Regional IX aimed to implement the KIP-College program in 2022. UM Buton hosted the assistance in Baubau with the Rector of Unmuh Buton, Wa Ode Alzaliani, and the Institute of Information System Development (LPSI)  Unmuh Buton, Awal.

In her remarks, Alzarliani expressed her gratitude for Kemendikbudristek’s trust in Unmuh Buton as the host of the agenda. “As Unmuh Buton Rector, I am grateful because we are responsible as the host. I hope the assistance will run well,” she said.

Dr Muni Ika, the sub coordinator of KIP-College Kemdikbudristek, delivered his remarks by appreciating the participants directly in Unmuh Buton and online on Zoom Meeting. “The assistance has been conducted so in the forum, we have a common perspective to implement the KIP-College program based on its regulation,” said Muni Ika.

AISKA Won 4th National Physiotherapy Olympiad ACMPTS

Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Surakarta (AISKA) won the National Physiotherapy Olympiad on the series event of the 4th Annual Conference of Muhammadiyah Physical Therapy Surakarta (ACMPTS) on Saturday (30/07).

The olympiad raised the theme “Comprehensive Treatment of Pediatric Physical Therapy to Optimize Growth and Development in Children ”. The event was followed by the delegation of physiotherapy institutions in Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Jakarta in 17 teams. The olympiad was conducted on Saturday, 30 July 2022 in Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Aiska sent 2 teams that involved the first team (Miftahul Jannah Allavi, Nasnen Nur Prehatiningsih, Zulfa Khairunnisa Azzahra) and the second team (Shahad Erma Nurhayati, Assa Familia Futurani, Supadmi).

In the first round, Aiska passed with satisfying points and became the fifth-highest scoring team with UMS, UNISA Yogyakarta, and Universitas Widya Husada. In addition, the second round was the study case. Aiska team was represented by Miftahul Jannah Allavi, Nasnen Nur Prehatiningsih, Zulfa Khairunnisa Azzahra. They beat others with a total point of 800 and won first place.

UM Jambi Agrees To Sign MoU For LazisMu Office Establishment

Universitas Muhammadiyah Jambi (UM Jambi) and LazisMu Province Board of Jambi conducted a meeting on Thursday (28/07) located in the Meeting Room of UM Jambi Rector. On this occasion, the Rector of UM Jambi, Dr. Nurdin SE ME; the Vice-Rector II, Dr. Indria Mayesti SE ME; the Vice-Rector III, Drs Arman Syafaat MM; the Chairman of LazisMu Province Board of Jambi, Ir Kusnadi Bey MM, and several members of LazisMu.

Dr. Nurdin SE ME mentioned that UM Jambi as a Muhammadiyah service institution (AUM) always supports the Muhammadiyah movement. For this occasion, the support can be formed by running institutional mandates and preaching development in the communities. “It is not limited to LazisMu, but all components in Muhammadiyah preaching strategies. Starting from various institutions under the Muhammadiyah movement to autonomous organizations, we are ready to collaborate and support,” he said.

Furthermore, Ir Kusnadi Bey MM, the Chairman of LazisMu Province Board of Jambi appreciated all leaders that have supported all LazisMu programs. “Shortly, after the MoU, we hope that we can establish LazisMu Office in Unmuh Jambi. The Office is expected to provide communities’ benefit, especially the academic civitas and students in UM Jambi,” he said.

The meeting was continued by the signing of an MoU between Unmuh Jambi and the LazisMu Province Board of Jambi. One of the agreements in MoU is to build a LazisMu Office in Unmuh Jambi. Later, the office would become a representative of LazisMu in collecting zakat from donors (muzakki) that have completed nisab. The donation would be distributed to beneficiaries (mustahiq) in the Unmuh Jambi environment, especially the students in the scholarship scheme.

3 Billions Of College Aid For UM Surabaya Prospective Students

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) prepares college aid for its prospective students. This year, the scholarship programs that have already existed in the Covid-19 pandemic, reopened for 3 Billion in total. In a statement, the Vice-Rector III for Student, Innovation, and Human Resource Affairs, Ma’ruf Sya’ban mentioned the fund allocation as offering opportunities for broader communities to pursue higher education in Diploma or Bachelor programs.

“After the pandemic, we will face a period to raise again. Therefore, a chance to pursue higher education should be given to everyone,” said Ma’ruf. 

The Head of Student Information and Admission Institute (LIPMB), Radius Setiyawan explained that the scholarship and prominent programs include Indonesian Smart College Card (KIP-K) or Bidikmisi Scholarship, Tahfidz, influencer, athlete, person with a disability, vocational alumni, nearby communities, dhuafa, applicant by invitation, Ma’had Umar bin Al-Khattab program, and Ready To Work Student (KBK) program.

“For submitting a program, the prospective student should follow the selection process and meet requirements on the internal campus,” said Radius. According to him, the prominent program awardees would also experience a special upbuilding program from the Student, Alumni, and Innovation Bureau (BAKAI).

“The UM Surabaya scholarship registration has already opened for its third batch from the first July to 31st August. The registration will be closed when the quota and conditions of the scholarship have been completed,” said Radius. He also stated that UM Surabaya’s official site provides further information for prospective students to understand more about these college aid programs.

Visualize Brainly Learning, UML Lecturer Passed Assistive Technology Funding Program

Two lecturers of Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung (UML) qualified to be awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) to apply for the Tri Dharma of Higher Education Institutions, Tuesday (26/07). The team leader, Ratna Tri Utami, M.Pd. explained that the proposal submission to receive learning innovation assistance should follow the Ministry’s guidelines.

“In proposal submission, we ask for suggestions and inputs from lecturers and experts who have experience in this specific field. It aimed to support the implementation of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program in UML,” she said.

Together with Rianti Nopitasari, M.Pd, both awardees passed the Assistive Technology Funding program for students with disability in Higher Education institutions. With this assistance, it was expected to enlarge educational access and learning, especially for children with disabilities (ABK). Also, to reach the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) UML and the Education for Exceptional Children department.

“The other purpose is to develop an application named Brainly Learning in higher education to be implemented to ABK students,” she continued. Furthermore, she also mentioned that UML has students with disabilities, so it was expected to be tested on UML students and other students in similar conditions.

“Assistive technology is a term for supportive, adaptive, and rehabilitative equipment for persons with disabilities,” she concluded. The learning design can show the novelty of producing a solution and ideas the outside of conservative/conventional frame.

The design of brainly learning applications contains varied equipment/tools, including the lesson plan (RPP), syllabus, learning materials, and tests. It was expected to be applied by the students with disabilities so it can support the learning process. The application can be used for Cerebral Palsy, Physically Disabled, and Hearing Impaired students. The three kinds of ABK meet the difficulties in the learning process, so we tried to create an application to support them to comprehend the materials,” she added.

Moreover, the Rector of UML, Dr Mardiana, MPd hoped that in the future, UML would be ready to have more students with disabilities because of the application prepared, especially the Education for Exceptional Children department (PLB). As additional information, the application that would be developed could be accessed in OS Android and Windows. The Innovative Learning Model becomes a learning design that provides students with disabilities to construct their knowledge and actively participate in the learning process.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus (UMKU) held an academic forum on Tuesday (26/07). The academic forum was conducted through the Bachelor Program of Midwifery department of UMKU. The academic forum raised the theme “The Maternal Obstetric Emergencies”. UMKU invited an expert speaker, dr. Najib Budi Wardoyo, SpOg, works as an obstetrician-gynecologist.

In the remarks, the Rector of UMKU mentioned the purpose of the expert lecture. “This expert lecture becomes a medium to explore more about midwifery. We always support the similar program to provide students with professional skills in their fields,” said Dr. Rusnoto, S.KM., M.Kes (Epid). He also appreciated dr Najib’s contribution as the guest lecturer. “We appreciate dr Najib for sharing his knowledge. We hope it can be a worship practice and also a broader horizon of knowledge for the students,” he added.

The obstetric emergency is a hemorrhage that is a life-threatening condition during pregnancy. The emergency includes several types, including hemorrhage in the first week of pregnancy (abortus, hydatidiform mole, vascular cyst, extrauterine/ectopic pregnancy). Understanding these hemorrhages is important for Midwifery students. Therefore, the academic forum was conducted to prepare students when they work as professionals. They were expected to comprehend the information and become experts in midwifery.

The forum that held hybrids (both online and offline) ran smoothly. The participants were enthusiastic as they participated in giving feedback and intense discussion. The deeper presentation could be watched on the UMKU YouTube channel.

UMM Won Second Place in E-Sports Competition

Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Students won the second place in Mobile Legend Zodiac E-Sports Competition Season XXII Regional Malang on Friday (24/07). The competition was conducted in Jambuluwuk Hotel and Resort, Batu. The team that won the competition was the Valhalla team in the Upper Bracket position. The team that comprised Giant Andili Pratama; Pramas Setya Wahyu; Fikri Nul Haikal; dan Denny Prassetiawan beaten 14 other teams in the competition.

Giant mentioned that he was proud of the achievement. “Currently, the game is no longer a hobby, but a career. For example, the entry of Indonesian e-sport to Sea Games and National Sports Week. Although UMM only got second place, I am really proud,” he said.

In the competition, Giant mentioned that he and his team had properly prepared. Besides practicing daily, they also prepare mentally to enhance their cooperation methods. From the first round to the semifinal, the team has recorded consecutive victories in several games, or famously called as Win Streak. However, in the semifinal, they experienced a decrease.

“We feel overwhelmed when we face the team from Sidoarjo. We lack the hero powers. It happens when we miss-communication. Luckily, we have faced the competition well,” the 2019 UMM students said.

He also hoped that the campus could support them in other E-Sports competition. Also, he expected that UMM students can make E-Sports a career. “From this achievement, I hope our friends that have talent and play the game online should keep practicing. Perhaps from the amateur player could be a pro player one day,” he concluded.

Rector of UMSU Inaugurates His Vice-Rectors In 2022-2026

The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof Dr. Agussani MAP inaugurated the UMSU Vice-Rectors on Saturday (23/07). The Vice-Rectors, including Prof Dr. Muhammad Arifin SH MHum as the Vice-Rector I; Prof Dr. Akrim MPd as the Vice-Rector II; and Dr. Rudianto MSi as the Vice-Rector III followed the inauguration. It was located in the M Basri 3 Auditorium, Medan involving the reciting and signing of the oath. The Chairman of Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD), Prof. Lincolin Arsyad MSc, Ph.D. directly witnessed the inaugural procession.

Also, the General Secretary of Muhammadiyah Central Board, Prof Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, MEd attended the procession. He was accompanied by the Secretary of CHERD, Dr. Muhammad Samsuddin. Prof Mu’ti and Dr. Muh Sam also read the Decree of Appointment for the Vice-Rectors. The Chairman of Higher Education Service Institutes (Ad Interim), Prof Dr. Ibnu Hajar Damanik, MSi; Muhammadiyah Regional Board, all university boards, and public and religious figures also followed the agenda.

In his remarks, the Rector of UMSU, Prof Dr. Agussani MAP mentioned that the Vice-Rector’s inauguration becomes an improvement process with a total commitment and integrity to the organizational development in the future. The vice-rectors were also related to their achievement in the previous period 2016-2022 which has been reported to Muhammadiyah Central Board. “I hope the vice-rectors that have been inaugurated today will improve their commitment and collaborative work for establishing our existing goals and targets,” said the Rector of UMSU.

Furthermore, Prof Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, in his remarks, reminded all vice-rectors to work harder to achieve the existing targets. He also appreciated UMSU’s achievement to be a private university in North Sumatera that received its A accreditation status. “I am confident that UMSU will be a better campus in the future. It will fly higher to internationalize the institution,” he said.

UMG Annual Social Service Program in Islamic Boarding School

Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik (UMG) held a social service program on Sunday (17/07). The program was held through the Student Association for Chemical Engineering Department (HIMATEKIM) UMG. It was located in the Salafiyah Boarding School of Nurul Ulum, Kebomas district, Gresik region, East Java. The program from the Public Relations Department of HIMATEKIM is an annual program. For this year, they raised the theme “To serve with heart, to move with actions”.

On this occasion, several social service programs of UMG have been conducted, including the opening ceremony, Quran recital from the boarding school students, speeches, Islamic sermon “Preparing the afterlife”, discussion on Islamic topic, rewarding to the boarding school students, distributing souvenirs, donation (groceries and cash), taking pictures together and closing ceremony. Twenty students of the Chemical Engineering Department and twenty students of the boarding school followed the program. The Head of the Chemical Engineering department, Zainal Mustakim, S.T., M.Eng delivered his remarks. Also, the Committee of social service program and Salafiyah boarding school leaders delivered their remarks.

“We appreciate all leaders in Salafiyah Boarding School of Nurul Ulum for the opportunities in conducting this annual program. Furthermore, we also appreciate all committees of HIMATEKIM UMG that have organized the agenda to contribute to orphan needs,” Zainal Mustakim said.
