Qibla Direction Calibration By STIT Muh Banjar Students

Qibla Direction Calibration By STIT Muh Banjar Students

Various students from STIT Muhammadiyah Banjar calibrated Qibla Direction in several mosques near the campus by utilizing the rashdul qiblah phenomenon (a moment when the sun is right above Ka’bah). The supervisor from the Islamic Studies department of STIT Muh Banjar, Pandu Pribadi, mentioned that the calibration aimed to ensure the position of Qibla is not displaced. It was from the previous calibration to the exact position of the result. The other purpose is for the students to apply their knowledge to the communities. “Rashdul qiblah happens on 27 and 28 May and will happen again next July. Commonly, people use this phenomenon to straighten out the Qibla direction,” he said.

The calibration used the innovation of a measuring instrument, Mizwala Qibla Finder. The students used mizwala, a stick that will be irradiated by the sun. The shadow from the stick can direct Qibla’s direction. Furthermore, the students also measured to calculate. The agenda was conducted on Friday (27/05) at 12:27 local time.

After the measurement from STIT Muh Banjar students, the result will be gained. The Qibla direction in Banjar is in position 295,06 degrees. It also added information on the distance of Banjar and Ka’bah in 8.139 kilometers through Qibla Tracker. “The process is not difficult because we use the sunlight. Finally, we know the position of Qibla is not displaced,” he said as reported in the Harapan Rakyat.

Therefore, it requires MHEI collaborations to develop by learning from each other. The Chairman of CHERD also expected that MHEIs should improve as superior in Higher Education. Especially in developing the information system department and supporting the learning process through technology systems. “I recommend to all MHEIs that have no information system department or related studies, immediately establish the departments. Because it is essential in the following years,” he continued when opening the meeting.

UMY Lecturer Named As Professor, Raise Law in Sharing Economy

UMY Lecturer Named As Professor, Raise Law in Sharing Economy

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) increased the number of professors through Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata’s inauguration in UMY Open Senate Meeting in Sportorium, Yogyakarta on Friday (27/05). In his inaugural speech, Prof Mukti Fajar raised the theme “Law and Welfare: The Regulation Concept in the Sharing Economy Era” to explain that currently, we are in a sharing economy era with a disruptive innovation business model. It means that commonly the youth might be the business owners through startups categorized as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME). “Therefore, they work on their own and did not create business institutions to receive legal recognition due to the requirements. Several businesses might grow big, but the others might grow and go bankrupt,” Mukti said.

Furthermore, based on his studies, the sharing economy creates disruptive innovation that disrupts various conditions. Because currently, Indonesia uses conventional business regulation norms. From a legal perspective, it needs to, first, redesign regulation to be more pragmatic to control the rapid development of the business model; second, transfer the regulator authority from the government to the business owners giving a right to create self-regulation as a regulation produced from various business owner agreements. “It can be more effective to maintain a healthy competition and dynamic markets to bring a lot of benefit to consumers,” he said.

On the other hand, the Chairman of UMY Senate, Heru Kurnianto Tjahjono explained that the professor is more than a professional career for a lecturer. In his opinion, a professor will also contribute to a better transformation of broader lives and long-life learners. He was also grateful for the inauguration of Prof Mukti Fajar as a Law Professor. “Furthermore, he also has a position as the Chairman of the Judicial Commission. He has a big responsibility and public trust,” he added.

Halal Center of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) held the Assistance Training of Halal Product Process (PPH) online, Tuesday-Thursday (17-19/05). The training attended by 128 participants aimed to produce PPH assistance to ease the owners of Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) to ask for halal certification through self-declaration. “By conducting an assistance training for PPH, the PPH assistance would verify and validate the proposal of MSME owners to ask for halal certification through self-declaration,” said the Chairman of Halal Center, UMP, Dr apt Diniatik, M Sc.

The training consisted of various activities, including the required materials, post-test, and practices. “Alhamdulillah, from this implementation, we have created 75 PPH assistants that support MSME in receiving halal certification through self-declaration,” Diniatik added. She expected Halal Center could support halal certification submission for the business owners. Self-declaration is also useful for demonstrating the real benefit for MSME.

According to her, the halal certification is important to help the business owners and communities to separate halal and non-halal food products. “If the business owners understand and ask for halal certification, it will be more convincing. Therefore, the halal certification is very essential to the broader communities to separate halal and non-halal products,” she continued.

In the opening session, the Rector of UMP, Dr. Jebul Suroso; the Vice-Rector IV, Dr. Anwar Ma’ruf; and the Head of Development and Monitoring Center of Halal Product Assurance Boards (BPJPH), Dr. Hj A Umar attended the meeting online. [] CHERD / UMP
