Universitas Muhammadiyah Kudus (UMKU) distributed zakat (alms) to 3.010 mustahiq (beneficiaries) on Wednesday (20/04). The Rector of UMKU, Rusnoto SKM MKes (Epid), gave the alms and distributed groceries in the Multipurpose Hall of UMKU. It is located on Ganesha Street 1, Purwosari, Kudus. The beneficiaries comprised teachers and staff of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah services (AUM) and Muhammadiyah Council for Primary and Secondary Education in Kudus regency. On this occasion, Daily Advisory Board, Drs H Sajad MPD attended the distribution. In addition, the Chairman of the Islamic and Muhammadiyah Studies Body (BSIK), lecturers, and education staff at UMKU also witnessed the procession.
Rusnoto expressed his gratitude for the distribution. “Through staff alms, UMKU can distribute the alms to all Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Branch Board. It started from the branch board, regional and province board, Muhammadiyah services, and autonomous organization (Ortom). Also, the alms and groceries were given to Muhammadiyah mosque boards in Kudus and surrounding. It includes the Muhammadiyah Province Board of Central Java,” he said. He also invited all beneficiaries to be grateful for the blessing of Allah SWT. Later, he also expected UMKU could contribute to the Branch boards’ program. It aimed to create UMKU pioneering in beneficial for the wider community.
Over one thousand two hundred fifty alms and groceries were distributed UM Kudus to the teachers and staff in Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah services, including Daycare Center (TPA), ‘Aisyiyah Kindergarten (TK ABA), Playgroup (KB), Quranic Education (TPQ), Islamic Education institutions (Madin), and boarding schools. Afterward, 1.755 alms and groceries were distributed to the Muhammadiyah Province Board of Central Java. The distribution went smoothly by implementing strict health protocols.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) continuously conducted community service programs in the integration of da’wah (inviting people to embrace Islam). Through the Community Service Institute (LPM), UMY released a digital library named Digital Library of Jabal Rahmah Mosque located in Permanent Resident of Merapi in Batur, Kepuharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
The Launching of the Digital Library was conducted blended on Sunday (24/04) by the Rector of UMY, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P IPM , in front of Jabal Rahmah mosque members. “The collaboration between UMY and Permanent Resident communities that relocated since 2010 after the eruption. For the collaboration conducted for 12 years, we hope we can provide facilitations for the wider communities,” said Gunawan. He also added that the Digital Library could be developed to ease the community to access various collection books of UM Yogyakarta Library.
“In the future, the collaboration between UMY and the communities of Merapi Slopes, especially in Batur, can be continued. For instance, the Student Study Service (KKN) that regularly organizes,” he continued. The launching of the Digital Library also continued with the explanations from UM Yogyakarta Library of ways to use and access the digital library to the communities as Jabal Rahmah members.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya (UMPR) organized a collaborative webinar on Thursday (21/04) from six different Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs). The fourth series of webinars entitled “Technology and National Revival” was placed in UMPR Main Hall. The Rector, Vice-Rector I, Vice-Rector II, and Vice-Rector III attended the webinar offline. Meanwhile, the resource persons and participants presented both online and offline.
The Rector of UMPR, Dr Sonedi, MPd opened the webinar in front of 500 participants from all over Indonesia. Afterward, in his remarks, he explained that the collaborative programs between six different institutions illustrated the advancement of technology. “The advancement of technology in the Covid-19 pandemic creates this kind of agenda. A webinar with various speakers and participants from MHEIs in several regions,” he said, as reported on the UMPR site.
The speakers presented on the webinar were Dr Chandra Anugrah Putra MIKom from UMPR;Dr Prantasi Harmi Tjahjanti SSi MT from UM Sidoarjo; Prof Ir Sarjito MT PhD from UM Surakarta; Sayekti Harits Suryawan MKom from UMKT; Lukman Hakim ST MT from UM Surabaya, and Dr Juwita ST MT dari UM Purwokerto. After the speakers presented their materials, the certificates of appreciation were given online. The closing agenda was continued by taking photos of the speakers and participants.
The Vice-Rector III of Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo (UMGO) directly inaugurated the Red Cross committee on Thursday (21/04). The UKM KSR PMI 02 committee is the Community Health Unit for the Indonesian Red Cross Society (PMI). The inauguration was placed in the Haryono Suyono building, Second Floor, the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M) UMGO. The Vice-Rector III, Dr. Apris Ara Tolome SAg MSi highlighted the importance of mental preparation in carrying out the duties. This mental preparation was required for red cross members due to their humanitarian mission.
“The members inaugurated should prepare to cope with adversity, both in organization challenges and natural disaster responses,” said Dr. Apris as reported on the UM Gorontalo site. He also emphasized they should contribute to campus development as one of the student activity units in UM Gorontalo.
The representative of PMI Gorontalo Province, Yahya Djafar Ibrahim, appreciated the regeneration of UKM KSR PMI 02 UMGO. “UKM KSR in UMGO, annually, always recruits cadres. It illustrates the continual regeneration of cadres,” said Yahya in front of the committee.
Similar to Yahya, Bobi Ridwan Hasan, the PMI Gorontalo Region representative also explained that UM Gorontalo was responsive to sending volunteers. It undoubtedly reflected the UKM KSR PMI 02 UMGO roles. “In every urgent demand for personnel, UKM KSR PMI 02 UMGO is always responsive,” he said.
Makmun MPd, the Virtual Arts Education lecturer of Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar, regained a prideful accomplishment. In three weeks of Ramadan, he had achieved four International recognitions. These four achievements added his total recognition to over 20 international achievements since 2020.
The achievements, first, he collected from the designer association in Catalunya, Spanyol for his involvement in a two-year exhibition related to COVID-19. It collaborated with UNESCO. The second recognition is Semarang International Cartoon Exhibition (SICE) 2022. In this contest, Makmun succeeded joining the big 100 of best cartoonists among 2600 cartoonists who competed. The third achievement is the First International Caricature Contest in Egypt also followed by all people around the world. The fourth, he became the selected cartoonist in the Babad.id Cartoon Exhibition with the theme “Wayang as Nation’s Masterpiece” followed by all nations globally.
This Magister Alumni of Universitas Negeri Makassar mentioned Ramadan not only to enhance the acts of worship but also to provide positive energy and creativity. “Usually, I draw after teaching classes. It turns out that I created several cartoons before taking iftar,” he said. He also continued that fasting and cartoon arts have similar aspects in strengthening spirituality. This spirituality could provide various values in daily phenomena so the religion and arts could portray different perspectives in everyday life.
Generally, Amoeng (Makmun’s nickname) created his artworks to express and raise equity by criticizing the oppressor humorously. Various international competitions followed by Amoeng usually raised global issues, but the event organizers searched for art workers from different perspectives.
“The creativity of visualizing ideas is the main thing. Primarily, I raised the theme expressing the oppressed and triggering empathy in my artworks. I tried to illustrate the worst phenomena in social, economic, politic, humanity, environment, and many other issues,” he said.
Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) promotes scholarship on Tuesday (19/04). The scholarship promoted was Beasiswa Pendidikan Indonesia ‘Indonesian Education Scholarship’ conducted online on Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Youtube channel and offline in Islamic Center Hall, Fourth Campus, UAD. Dr Abdul Kahar MPd, the Head of Education Financial Service Center (Puslapdik), became the resource person in this socialization. The Puslapdik is under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek). The socialization was presided by Nur Arina Hidayati, the Chairman of Education and Training Division.
Dr. Norma Sari SH MHum, the Vice-Rector for Human Resource affairs hoped the socialization could encourage lecturers in pursuing scholarships. “I hope this socialization motivates various lecturers to access the scholarship,” she said.
The Puslapdik serves the financial service for Higher Education Institutions and almost all assistance programs in Kemendikbud Ristek. Related to assistance programs, Kahar mentioned three schemes in scholarship. First, talent achievement is the best among the top 20 higher education institutions. Second, the national achievement is the champions of olympiads or other competitions. Third, Beasiswa Indonesia Maju (BIM) is the program for High School students to pursue the world’s best campus.
Kahar also expressed his expectation through this agenda. “In this year, we highly expect that UAD lecturers will gain broader opportunities to pursue Indonesian Education Scholarships. The human resources in UAD also improved in better ways,” he said.
Student Activity Unit of Islamic Study Club (ISC) STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan held Community Service in Puncak village, Cigugur, Kuningan on Saturday-Sunday (16-24/04). Unlike the previous program, the community service program was organized in various religious activities to coincide with Ramadan month. By raising the theme “To attain blessings in holy month, sincerely preaching (da’wah) and strengthening relationship (silaturrahim)”, the activities comprised Workshops and Seminar on Religious topics, Iftar meals (Ta’jil) distribution, Competition in Islamic issues, and many others.
The governing board of ISC, Ustadz Asep Usamah and the demisioner of ISC also attended the agenda. In addition, the Chairman of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM), Oman Hadiana, officially opened the Community Service program. Oman Hadiana also mentioned the program as Catur Dharma ‘four values’ implementation of STKIP Muhammadiyah Kuningan. “I hope this program can build collaboration with the village government and become teaching materials for all students,” said the LPPM Chief. In the remarks, the Village head fully appreciated the ISC program in his village. Approximately 40 committees managed the program successfully.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh (UNMUHA) conducted the proposal seminar for the 2022 research and community service grant in the Meeting Room 2nd Floor of Rectorate Bureau UNMUHA, Wednesday (20/04). The proposal seminar was organized by the Institute for Research, Publication, Community Service and Development (LP4M) UNMUHA. It was opened by Dr. Aslam Nur, MA, the Rector of UNMUHA, and accompanied by Vice Rector I, Dr. Fadhlullah, SH, MS, and various lecturers who passed the administrative selection.
This year, the research proposal of UNMUHA lecturers reached 77 proposals, comprising 46 research proposals and 31 community service proposals. It increased three times than previous research proposals in the year 2021. “It shows that the lecturers’ enthusiasm in conducting research and community service is elevating,” said Meutia Zahara, Ph.D., the Chairwoman of LP4M, Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh.
Dr. H. Aslam Nur, MA, appreciated the UNMUHA lecturers’ achievements. He assumed the increase in research proposals was motivated by various supporting programs and activities to encourage research. “Various ongoing activities, including Independent Learning, Independent Campus (MBKM) program followed by students and lecturers, Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program, Kampus Merdeka ambassador, Kampus Mengajar Batch 3, Independent Learning for All (MBUS) program of Indonesia Cyber Education (ICE) Institute, and many others,” he said.
The Rector expected that the lecturers would improve their competence in receiving research grants for both national and international levels. “The lecturers have to remember managing their functional position due to the research and community service requirement,” he said.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) distributes groceries for communities on the surrounding campus on Tuesday (19/04). The distribution served as UMSU concern on the Covid-19 pandemic-affected people and strengthened UMSU relations in Ramadan 1443 H. On this occasion, six hundred grocery packages were distributed. Several representatives from the communities symbolically received the packages that would be distributed around campus for each district head, the village head, and the neighborhood chief.
The Rector of UMSU, Prof Dr Agussani MAP attended the groceries distribution. “The distribution of groceries packages is regularly organized as our concern in the communities and an implementation of Tri Dharma ‘three values’ of Higher Education Institutions, especially in community services,” he said. He continued by mentioning his expectation to present values related to UM Sumatera Utara concerns. “Besides concerning education, UMSU also cares about social concern and health in communities,” he said.
It also served to enhance the community spirit between UM Sumatera Utara and surrounding communities. The groceries packages contain rice, cooking oil, and a variety of foods also distributed to cleaning service and security guard personnel in UM Sumatera Utara.
Noor Alfi Pane, East Medan district head, also attended the distribution and appreciated UMSU’s concern for communities. The agenda became a tradition as the 12th program since Prof Agussani led. “UMSU groceries packages are very beneficial for the communities, especially the underprivileged persons,” he said, as reported on the UM Sumatera Utara site.
Muhammadiyah Council for Higher Education, Research, and Development (CHERD) collaborated with Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Health program) and organized an online public lecture “Big Data Analytics in National Health Insurance” on Wednesday (20/04). On this occasion, Donni Hendrawan MD MPH, the Deputy Director for Data Management and Information, BPJS Health program, became a resource person. Muhammad Sayuti MPd MEd Ph.D., the Secretary of CHERD, and dr Andi Afdal MBA AAK, the BPJS Director for Human Resources and General Division, delivered their remarks.
In his remarks, Muhammad Sayuti explained that in collaboration with BPJS Health, Muhammadiyah-’Aisyiyah Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) would afford higher education for the BPJS ambassadors. That collaborative program was responded favorably by Dr. Andi Afdal by encouraging big data analytics highlighted in the public lecture. Responding to Muhammad Sayuti Ph.D., the BPJS Health would provide various aspects of a collaborative program, including leverage data, joint research, collaborative research, internship opportunities for graduates and students, publications, and capacity building program.
Furthermore, Dr. Andi Afdal explained that the government targeted 97% of all Indonesian population to be covered by BPJS Insurance. He also mentioned that in a day, BPJS serves 2 million transactions. “This data illustrates the behavior of Indonesian people when they reach healthcare access. It is interesting to predict what service we can provide,” he said.
Public Lecture Presentation
Donni Hendrawan started his presentation with three principal explanations in BPJS. First, BPJS provides healthcare access for all Indonesian people whenever they need it. Second, BPJS ensures the community who access healthcare services are financially secured. Third, BPJS affords qualified healthcare services. “We cover safety, effectiveness, and efficiency,” he added.
In addition, the lecture discussed opportunities in conducting big data analytics using BPJS Health’s data. BPJS secures the personal information of its participants with personal data protection that requires safe and comprehensive management. The principles include, first, data collection according to law, fairness, and the owner’s consent. Second, the personal data will be processed based on its specific purpose. Third, the data processing will assure data owners. Fourth, BPJS is responsible for accurate, complete, up-to-date data. Fifth, BPJS secures personal data safety. Sixth, BPJS will explain every activity in the process and Personal Data Protection (PDP) failures. Seventh, BPJS will destroy and delete data based on data retention periods.
The Opportunity for MHEI students to Analyze using BPJS Health Data Samples
Data in National Health Insurance (JKN) is enormous: 236 million participants, 320 thousand agencies, 650 thousand insurance fee access, 27 thousand healthcare facilities, 300 thousand health workers, and 30 strategic partnerships. From the overall data, BPJS has open-access data samples in public. It increases per year, in 2019, it reached 4,4 million; in 2020, it reached 9,4 million; and in 2021, it reached 28,1 million. The data derived from its services from 2015 to 2020 reached 41,9 million and has 17,3 million diabetes mellitus data.
The data sample from BPJS Health was expected to be used by MHEIs. BPJS encourages collaborative programs for academicians to acquire knowledge and information in elevating JKN operations, actualizing beneficial innovation, and building strategic partnerships. “Undoubtedly, it will consider data privacy and data protection. BPJS also provides publications for the research that uses BPJS Data Sample. We are widely open to cooperating with all parties,” he concluded.
