Unmuh Babel Appreciated by Various Schools in Field Introduction

Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (Unmuh Babel) rescinded their students from the Field Introduction of School (PLP) program from 39 schools on Friday (03/02). This program was located on Pangkalpinang and Central Bangka. It involved 386 students from four study programs in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Previously, they had undergone ten days service since last Tuesday (24/01). It raised the theme “To prepare Educational Personnels that CETAR (Smart, Eligible, Exemplary, Adaptive, and Religious”.

On this PLP, the students had implemented observation and internship to explore learning aspects and school management in the education unit. The process was through intra curricular and extracurricular activities in the elementary, junior and senior high schools. The headmaster of Sekolah Alam Pangkalpinang (SAPKA), M. Arifin Saddoen, MPd highly appreciated Unmuh Babel students in a certificate of appreciation for the collaborative program in PLP. “Unmuh Babel students are very cooperative and have positive intentions to learn,” he said.

Similar to Arifin, Rofiqoh, the headmaster of SMA 4 Pangkalpinang, responded positively to students’ high motivation to learn in the PLP program. In addition, Ferly Fauzia M.A from SD Mutiara Harapan, Pangkalpinang, also appreciated Unmuh Babel students’ motivation who were able to implement their curriculum in English.

UMMI Receives Positive Response from International Students

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) held the closing ceremony of the exchange student program from SRM University AP, India who had successfully completed and carried out the program, Friday (27/01).

Mr. Sandeep Samala (Senior Staff of International and Engagement) appreciated UMMI for welcoming the SRM University AP students, India. “Thank you so much for the hospitality, thank you so much for welcoming and being very warm,” he added. He also said that it was an outstanding experience.

Even though they had to adapt to the new environment, Sandeep and his nine students had no difficulty living in Sukabumi, and even felt at home. “Being in a foreign land and far away from home is not easy, but UMMI made our trip here very very good, we feel like home,” he said.

In his remarks Mr. Sandeep also invited UMMI to visit India by sending UMMI students in a student exchange program. During their activities, all SRM University students followed their activities with joy and enthusiasm. In particular, they are pleased with Indonesian culture, especially in Sukabumi. In fact, all students have their own favorite places such as the Sukabumi Temple, the Great Sukabumi Mosque, the Al-Umm UMMI Mosque, and many other places.

Dr. Sakti Alamsyah, M.Pd, the Chancellor of UMMI mentioned that the exchange students from India was his institution’s honor. “I congratulate all students who participate in this program. I hope all of you will be successful and can graduate on time.” said Shakti.

He also expressed his apologies whether during the program there were imperfections. With this collaboration, the UMMI Chancellor will continue to collaborate with various countries in the future and facilitate the similar program when SRM University AP makes a return visit to UMMI. “I hope it is not the first and last visit but it will be the first visit and will be another visit in the following years,” Sakti hoped. On the other hand, the exchange students said they really wanted to stay in Sukabumi because they were very comfortable with the atmosphere and activities.

Community Midwifery Practice of ITS PKU Midwifery Students

The third year of Diploma-3 Midwifery students in ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta were conducting Community Midwifery Practice in Nusukan village. The midwifery practice will be carried out from January 30 to February 13, 2023. The handover ceremony attended by the representatives of Nusukan Village, Tri Hartanto, the Head of the Nusukan Health Center, dr. Yuli Wulansari, Mrs. Etik, and the Head of the Neighborhood and Community Unit.

Yuli Widyastuti, Dean Secretary of the Faculty of Health, mentioned that currently,  the students had followed various practices and exams in several practice areas. It became an opportunity for the students to implement their knowledge and improve health conditions of the community in Nusukan. “Eleven Diploma-3 Midwifery students will focus more on reproductive health for both adolescents and mothers in Nusukan for 3 weeks,” she explained.

She also prompted the students to maintain ethics, manners, and etiquette as a form of maintaining a good name of ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta. In his remarks, Tri Hartanto, representing the Head of Nusukan village mentioned his hope that there will be collaboration between the health center, community leaders, and people so it will produce a positive impact for the community. “And ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta is no longer a stranger for us because we often collaborate and support each other in several activities and we thank ITS PKU for that,” he explained.

In addition, dr. Yuli Wulansari, the head of the Nusukan Health Center, hoped that students could implement their knowledge in the community, especially for maternal and child health care in Nusukan.

Unismuh Makassar RisetMu Team Provides Community Legal Aid Education in Gowa

The RISETMU Team in Community Service Scheme of Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar held a Community Service (PKM) activity in Pao Village, Tombolo Pao, Gowa. On wednesday (25/01), they raised the theme “Community Legal Aid Education for the Underprivileged People to Increase Legal Awareness in the Pao Village”.

More than 30 people from Pao Village participated in this activity held in the Pao Village office. The PKM team was led by Andi Muhammad Aidil SH MH, who also works as a Lecturer and Advocate while Abdillah SSPdI MA, who is also a Lecturer became his Research member. In addition, several students of the Sharia Economic Law in Unismuh Makassar also involved in this PKM activity. 

Also present online were the speakers from the Makassar Religious Court, Dr. Imran, SAg SH MH CM who is also a Lecturer, Mediator and Registrar at Makassar Religious Court. Muhammadiyah Branch Boards also attended this activity, including the Chairperson of the Muhammadiyah Branch Boards of Tombolo, Pao, Harun Zainal, SAg MPdI and the Secretary, Jafar B SAg. The activity raised two major themes, Pro Bono Legal Aid and Prodeo Legal Aid. It was presented by Andi Muhammad Aidil SH MH and Dr. Imran, SAg SH MH CM, respectively.

Furthermore, the participants were given the opportunity to consult directly regarding legal issues that occurred in the Pao. The participants enthusiastically followed the consultation session. One of the topics in the consultation session by the Registrar of the Makassar Religious Court provided a problem solving solution and offered to be collaborated with the Pao Village government.

On this occasion, Andi Muhammad Aidil SH MH expressed his gratitude for the activity that received a positive response and enthusiasm from the community. He mentioned that they were also grateful for this legal aid education.

“According to the community, they have a minimum set of information about the law, especially the legal aid procedures, whether using an Advocate as a Legal Counsel or free of charge litigation. However, after being given this legal aid education, they understand,” he said.

Andi Muhammad Aidil, an Islamic Studies (FAI) Lecturer for the Islamic Economics Law Study Program in Unismuh Makassar, added that they can understand and are no longer afraid of legal issues because Indonesia has a civil law system.

“After this educational activity, we hope that the community can understand that we do not need to spend money to solve problems. Our country provides free legal aid facilities, especially for underprivileged people, which are clearly regulated in laws and government regulations,” he concluded.

Tapak Suci Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI) won 17 medals at the 2023 Bandung Lautan Api International Championship held at ITB Jatinangor Futsal Sports Hall, Saturday-Sunday (7-8/01). The medals included 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze.

The winners of this championship were Silvia Maulida, Muhammad Raf Sanjani, Galih Septemberiansyah, Hilda Nuraeni, Arya Bagas Pradikta, Risa Benazeer, Firman Nurhakim, Diki Hermawan, Galuh Septemberiansyah, Muhammad Helmy Assalamy, Anisa Agusti, Dede Warisa, Salsa Najwa, Putri Ramadhani, Alfyan Ramadhani, Muhammad Bima Nafis M, and Rahmadi Kholidin.

Long before the competition was held, the UMMI Tapak Suci team had prepared their athletes to compete by doing intense training.

Gilang Septemberiansyah, one of the gold medalists in the Class A Men’s Student/Adult Competition, mentioned that long before the competition, he and his friends had prepared themselves by doing physical exercises and kicking practice.

Alhamdulillah, I am so grateful and proud to be the champion,” said Gilang. He hopes he and his friends can improve their achievements for future competitions.

On the other hand, Dede Warisa, a female athlete who joined the competition for the first time, explained that it was a fascinating experience. Although she met a challenge, it did not dampen his spirits. In the future, Dede hopes she can improve her achievements.

Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) Rector, Assoc Prof Dr Jebul Suroso invited as a speaker in Subuh Berjamaah (Fajr Prayer) and Islamic Sermon in Sabilul Muttaqin Mosque, Pecikalan, Wangon, Banyumas on Sunday (29/01).

The sermon held by Moslem Youth in Wangon, Banyumas also provided free markets for its eighth batch. In his presentation, the UMP Rector shared three benefits of worshiping Allah. The Rector also explained that the worship also became the obligation to worship for all Moslem.

“To worship Allah is to submit to Him humbly and reverently, purify the obedience, because Allah created us, protects us, teaches us as His creation,” he said.

The Rector also mentioned three benefits of Worship, including the benefit to be healthier. Researchers from Harvard University, Researchers at Harvard University, United States, stated that the intelligence of a person will increase after praying. It is caused by the prostration movement which eases the supply of oxygen to flow optimally.

“At that time (ed. Sujud), the position of the heart was right above the head, so that blood was able to flow smoothly to the brain. In the last movement of prayer, namely taslim, it turns out that it also contains benefits for physical health,” he explained.

The taslim movement facing left and right direction, continued the Chancellor, can actually relax the muscles around the neck and head. “When reciting the salam facing the right and left at the end of the prayer, the muscles around the neck and head will relax more and improve blood flow in the head. It also can prevent headaches and keep the skin tight, “he said.

Secondly, he continued that people who worship regularly will get ease in life. The faithful are given convenience in realizing their goals in life, especially for those who are guided by the Al-Qur’an and Hadith.

“All worship that is done for Allah and we submit to Allah to make our lives calm and full of gratitude,” he explained. According to the Chancellor, people who pray regularly will be more disciplined. The cure for stress is worship and prayer. “This determination of prayer times clearly shows the discipline value which plays an important role in people’s success,” he said.

The Chancellor also asked to continue to make life happy by worshiping Allah SWT. “He, whose today is better than yesterday, is lucky. While, one whose two days are equal is a loser,” he concluded.

IKOR Lecturer in UNIMUS Publish A Collection of Sports Opinion Articles

A Sports Science Study Program (IKOR) lecturer in Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (UNIMUS), Agung Widodo, SPd., MOr has succeeded in publishing a collection of sports opinions articles. The book entitled: The New Era of National Sports (Collection of Opinions Regarding National Sports Events and Policies) is a multidisciplinary perspective from a collection of the author’s works on national sports events and policies over the past three years, from mid-2020 to early 2023.

The lecturer also teaches a Sports Issues and Policy course at the S-1 IKOR FKM UNIMUS. He hoped that his book could be a national sports record from the beginning, during and after the Covid-19 Pandemic. “I hope this book will be useful for all readers. Especially for sports students who take sports issues and policies courses. I hope it can be more critical in seeing and responding to sports phenomena and issues that occur from various perspectives. Besides, it can be a source of suggestions for the author’s thoughts in the development of national sports, “he said.

The book has eight chapters. In the first chapter, it contains sports trends in the early period of the Covid-19 pandemic. The author reviews sports trends with new habits through two articles entitled “New Cycling Norms in the New Normal Era” and “Is Wearing a Mask When Exercising Really Dangerous?”.

The second chapter contains a number of events in the dimensions of competitive sports through four articles entitled “Sports, Anti-Doping, and the New Era”, “After the WADA Sanctions were Removed”, “SEA Games and the New Paradigm of Sports”, and “Implementing National Sports Design (DBON) to Create Champions”.

Furthermore, the third chapter contains the revival of the Indonesian sports tourism sector which was affected by the pandemic. There are four articles that discuss related theme, namely “Sports Tourism, Pandemic, and Woodball”, “Jogja, The City of Soccer Tourism”, “Fun Football and Muslim-Friendly Tourism”, “Sport Tourism”, and “After the Tour de Prambanan, Then What?”.

In chapter four, the author reviews the issues of sport and equality through two articles entitled “Paralympics, Legitimacy of Equality and Religion” and “Against Stereotypes of Women’s Football”. Chapter five discusses physical activity for physical and mental health, through the writings entitled “Children, Pandemic, and Sedentary Behavior”, “Playing, Post-Disaster Trauma Healing for Children”, and “Levels in Physical Literacy of DIY People”.

Meanwhile in chapter six, the author highlights a number of events on the national football scene through three articles entitled “Naturalization Is Not the Only Solution”, “No More Deaths on Footballs!”, and “Football for Life”. In chapter seven, the author reviews an active healthy lifestyle through two articles entitled “Maintaining Ideal Weight after Eid” and “Vape, Lifestyle and Wellness”. In the last chapter, the author highlights the development of the sports industry sector in Indonesia through two articles entitled “Fun Football Phenomena and the Sports Industry” and “Sportainment Industry”.

The Dean of FKM UNIMUS, Dr. Sayono, SKM., MKes (Epid), expressed his appreciation and hoped that the publication of this book could become an advantage of the IKOR FKM UNIMUS study program and become a trigger for all lecturers to improve their performance in disseminating knowledge through the publication of works.

Surakarta – Attended by all UMS academics, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) launched UMS.AC.ID with a new website design on January 25, in the Muh. Djazman Auditorium. UMS Chancellor, Prof. Dr Sofyan Anif, M.Si, mentioned that the UMS.AC.ID website would integrate the information access and create a neat, compact and organized website to ease the users to find the information they need.

The redesigned UMS.AC.ID website uses a back-end and front-end architecture that supports the continuous development and can even be integrated with various platforms such as Android and IOS. Moreover, it uses multi-regional cloud technology that is fast and secure to increase the speed of access from different parts of the world. The new website will also support three languages, Indonesian, English and Arabic, as part of the UMS internationalization movement.

In addition, there are various interesting features found on the UMS.AC.ID landing pages including detailed information on all study programs at every level, student scholarships, research information, campus life and accommodation, and university career opportunities. The website also has various advantages, such as centralized access to information, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and curriculum details that can be accessed through the study program page.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of traffic to a website from search engines by improving the website’s position in search results. UM Surakarta improved the quality of content to make websites more accessible to search engines and more relevant to searches performed by users. It includes techniques such as adding metadata, creating internal and external links, and using relevant keywords in the website content.

ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Chancellor Inaugurates UKM Leaders

ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta held the Inauguration of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) and Student Organizations (Ormawa) for 2023-2024 on the 5th floor of Building F Auditorium Thursday (26/01). Also presented at the procession was the Chancellor of ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Weni Hastuti, M.Kes, PhD accompanied by the Vice Chancellors I, II and III, and the Chairman of Study Program and the Head of Student Affairs Bureau. In this activity, 20 Student Activity Units in the ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta enthusiastically attended the inauguration. The new atmosphere in each Student Activity Unit (UKM) prevailed, and a new passion for each UKM radiated after the pandemic.

The Head of the Student Affairs Bureau, Wijayanti, S.Kep., M.Kep, read the Decree for 20 Student Units for 2023-2024. She expressed her expectation that the new leaders of each Student Activity Unit bring HR development, new ideas and more innovations to be produced. The inauguration was carried out by the Chancellor, Weni Hastuti, M.Kes., PhD. After inaugurating all student leaders, Weni Hastuti, M.Kes., PhD, mentioned that the organization should continue to move to make the organization survive. Regeneration was urgent in Student Activity Units (UKM) to measure whether the functional management structure in UKM is working. “I hope that UKM in 2023-2024 will have more accomplishments and bring ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta in a positive direction,” she added.

In her remarks, Vice Chancellor III, Sri Mintarsih, S.Kep, Ns,M.Kes. reminded that each UKM has a supervisor who can motivate the students, especially the UKM leaders, to be productive and create innovations according to their passions. She also prompted UKM members to maintain cleanliness and safety on campus, especially in their respective secretariat rooms.

In addition, she appealed to the students to work cooperatively with the Vice Chancellor III and the Student and Alumni Bureau to coordinate all matters related to work programs, activities and events that will be carried out to maintain ITS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta, a good name.

STIKes Mu Tegal and UPTD WKJ Kalibakung Promotes Health Products

The collaboration between STIKes Muhammadiyah Tegal (STIKes Mu Tegal) and the UPTD WKJ (a health tourism) Kalibakung, Tegal, Central Java, was marked by a joint agreement procession through the signing of a collaboration between two parties. The program started with the promotion of the priority products of STIKes Mu Tegal and the rise of Herbal Health Tourism in Tegal.

Umi Azizah, the Tegal Regent, appreciated the STIKes Mu Tegal Student Association in entrepreneurship and collaboration initiation with the UPTD WKJ Kalibakung. “I hope it can be beneficial and we can synergize all collaborative programs,” she said.

As witnessed directly by Muhammadiyah figures in the Muhammadiyah Provincial Leadership Congress at the Tegal District Hall, Saturday (28/01), the products of STIKes Muh Tegal students were sold out to Musypimwil participants. 

In his remarks, the Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Provincial Board in Central Java mentioned that Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions and Muhammadiyah Vocational Schools throughout Central Java should have innovation. “From now on, we should be ready for the Muhammadiyah Industrialization Movement in Central Java,” he explained

Hendra Apriyadi, the Vice Chairman 1 of STIKes Muhammadiyah Tegal expressed his appreciation to the response for the collaboration initiation. “Alhamdulillah, we start the synergy and collaboration by signing the collaboration agreement between STIKes Muhammadiyah Tegal and UPTD WKJ Kalibakung, Tegal,” he added.

Furthermore, as a first step to industrialization, STIKes Muhammadiyah Tegal collaborates with Health Tourism company and in the future, STIKes Muhammadiyah Tegal will become a center of Natural Materials studies.
