Diktilitbang Held Dissemination of Socio-Economic Researches

Muhammadiyah Higher Education, Research, and Development Council (Diktilitbang) held an Economic Empowerment and Community Welfare webinar on Monday (19/04). This webinar is a part of the Muhammadiyah Studies series and the first edition of the dissemination of RisetMu grant research on COVID-19 scheme. The webinar invited Sri Jumiyanti from UM Palu, Devi Ristian from UM Lamongan, Fahruddin Mukhlis from UM Malang, Saifullah Nasruddin from UM Sidenreng Rappang, and Umi Kholidah from UM Pringsewu. Before the main event, Hilman Latief, Chairman of Lazismu PP Muhammadiyah, gave a speech at the webinar.

In his speech, Hilman emphasized the importance of data as a foundation of movement. In addition, Hilman also gave a message that this discussion series would be a breakthrough, both in the short and long term. “As an association in the future, we need to strengthen the knowledge-based policy in Muhammadiyah,” he said.

Then, Adam Jerusalem, as moderator, introduced one by one of the five researchers. First of all, Sri Jumiyati presented her research entitled “The Evaluation of Community Empowerment through the Muhammadiyah Farmers Congregation (Jatam) and The Recommendations for Empowerment Models in Reducing the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic”. Furthermore, Saifullah Nasruddin conveyed the results of the research “LazisMu Strategic Program in MSME Development and Poverty Alleviation in Sidenreng Rappang Regency” with Akhwan Ali.

Fahrudin Mukhlis presented the subsequent research titled “Solidarity and Volunteerism of Muhammadiyah Members in Malaysia Against Covid-19”. After that, Devi Ristian presented research with Trijati Puspita and Nurul Hikmatul entitled “The Effect of 3A Health Mask Production Training (Antiwater, Antiaerosol, and Antibacterial) on the Productivity of ‘Aisyiyah Members”. Finally, Umi Kholidah presented “Muhammadiyah Cadre Responding to the Impact of Covid-19 in Economic Aspects (PCM Pringsewu)” with Ainur Rosidah.

The total number of research results in 142 studies. The speaker of the webinar, Lukman Hakim, conveyed the information. “Among the 142 types of research, there are 10 types of research that are in collaboration with Lazismu,” he added.

In his remarks, Prof Abdul Mu’thi appreciated the development of STKIP Muh Muara Bungo. SARMMI and IKIPMu Maumere Volunteers Underwent Ramadhan Fasting in NTT Flood Site

Holy Ramadhan month was not being a humanitarian volunteer challenge to the disaster sites. Fasting increased the motivation of the volunteers to spread kindness and helped the disaster victims in Adonara Timur. That was a statement from Al-Ghifari, the operation chief SARMMI (SAR Indonesian Student Association for Environmental and Adventure Activity) for NTT, who finished the coordination meeting from IKIP Muhammadiyah Maumere (IKIPMu Maumere), was conducted in Weiwerang, Adonara Timur, Flores Timur, NTT (15/4). Al Ghifari explained that in Weiwerang, SARMMI volunteers synergized with CAMP STIE Muhammadiyah Jakarta and IKIPMu Maumere volunteers, a combination from the Outstanding Students, Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), and Mahupa.

In Weiwerang, the volunteers settled the humanitarian post in assisting the flood victims in Weiwerang and Weiburak. The flood was also caused by the seroja tropical cyclone. In the humanitarian post, they synergized with IPM Nangahure, IPM Semamers, and Remas Al-Hikmah. “Each evening, we break the fast together, then we pray. Afterwards, we take suhoor together, and we continue to do humanitarian works to the flood-affected communities,” Al Ghifari continued.

For effectiveness, the humanitarian volunteers were divided into three groups. The first group was helping to clean scattered debris in several houses in Weiwerang village. Meanwhile, the second group assisted in cleaning the Mujahidin mosque in the Koramil area. The third group cleaned the flood debris with Weiburak people.

After each group finished their work, they would help the other groups until they all finished. “Besides cleaning, the volunteers also distribute the primary needs for the flood victims including rice, clean water, clothes, and many more,” Al Ghifari said.

Meanwhile, Erni Rukmini, a pioneer of Mahupa, explained that all volunteers expected that the lives of residents affected by the flood would recover as soon as possible. “The expectation was portrayed by humanitarian works in the field all out. 100 Ta’jil for UMY Students

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), through the UMY Dedication (UMY Mengabdi), distributed ta’jil (light food eaten upon breaking the fast) and suhoor for UMY students free, Tuesday (13/04). The program was also conducted by the Institute for Islamic Studies and Actualization (LPPI) for second time in the pandemic.

In the first Ramadan, UMY has distributed 1000 packages for breakfasting and 500 packages for suhoor. The students could take the packages in the drive-thru system in front of the AR Fachruddin A and B building through the main gate of UMY. Those who could take the packets have to show the Student Identity Card and wear a mask to ensure the implementation of strict health protocol.

As reported on the UMY website, the students were highly enthusiastic about the program, so 1000 packages were quickly distributed in 30 minutes. Umsida Released 175 Graduates of Muhammadiyah Studies

Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (Umsida) released 175 graduates of Diploma-I Program in Muhammadiyah Studies, Monday (05/04). Located in Sae Inn Hotel, Kendal, the graduates comprised the Muhammadiyah school teachers, Muhammadiyah service staff, Muhammadiyah autonomous organization, and Muhammadiyah Regional Board of Kendal.

The graduation of the 11th and 12th batch was attended by the Rector of Umsida, Dr Hidayatulloh MSi, and the Dean of Islamic Studies Faculty (FAI) Umsida, Dr Istikomah, MAg. After the procession, Dr Hidayatulloh expressed her expectation for the graduates. “Congratulations to the graduates. I hope you all can apply the knowledge in the place you devoted Muhammadiyah services,” said Istikomah, MAg.

Two batches were conducted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and a strict health protocol should be applied. Moreover, the significant number of graduates should be divided into two periods. In the first period for the 11th batch, seventy-four graduates were released by Umsida, and a hundred and one students were inaugurated in the 12th batch.

All inaugurated graduates have carried out the learning process in 4 months. The program collaborated with FAI UMSIDA with the Muhammadiyah Regional Board of Kendal. By the purpose to provide knowledge and perception about Muhammadiyah and internalize the Muhammadiyah ideology and understanding to all leaders in the organization, Muhammadiyah services, autonomous organization, lecturer, teacher, and cadres.

The Diploma-I program of Muhammadiyah Studies was firstly held in FAI Umsida in 2011. It was launched by Dr Hidayatulloh on 13 December 2015 in the Muhammadiyah Da’wah Center of Kendal, in collaboration with Muhammadiyah Province Board in East Java. The program’s primary target was all leaders and staff in Muhammadiyah services in education, health, and other services in 38 regencies in East Java.
