UMM was appointed to develop the Emergency Hospital for Covid-19 treatment, located not far from UMM Hospital, Drs. H. M. Sanusi MM was invited to lay the cornerstone in the Hospital construction Monday (5/4). The Vice-Regent, Police-Chief of Malang, Commander of Military 0818 Malang-Batu, and several invited guesses.
Dr Fauzan MPd, as the Rector of UMM, expressed gratitude for The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), and the Ministry of Health, which supported the realization of the Emergency Hospital construction. Also, the supports from the Regent and team, UMM Hospital, WIKA, and Yodya Karya. “This Hospital establishment becomes our intention for Indonesia, especially Malang free from Covid-19 cases,” he said in his remarks.
At the same time, Drs H M Sanusi, MM as Malang Regent appreciated UMM as their attempts to be responsive in handling pandemics. Not only for several months, but the attempts also did at the first case announced in Indonesia. “All parties supported in handling the pandemic effects until the curve case may decrease. From the last data, it decreases by 60 from 14.600 families in Malang which is still in the yellow status area. The rest has been in the green status area,” he said.
Sanusi also expected that UMM could contribute in all fields. Not only in handling the pandemic but also existed in the local community needs.
On the laying the first stone of this emergency hospital, there was also a report from the Head of Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) East Java delivered by Reva Sastrodiningrat. He explained hospital establishment was an attempt in handling Covid-19, especially in Malang Raya regions. Furthermore, the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 1.534.255 people per 4 April. “There are 14.331 positive patients in East Java, while 10.346 patients from Malang Raya,” he said.
According to the latest data, several hospitals were appointed to the referral hospital for positive case treatment. One of them was UMM hospital. The emergency hospital for Covid-19 would construct an area of 8,000 square meters. Later, it was occupied by sixty-five beds for the observation room and eight beds for isolation. Moreover, there would be a screening room and other supporting facilities.
Reva continued hospital establishment for an emergency was from the Ministry of PUPR for the Covid-19 referral hospital.
