Universitas Islam Ahmad Dahlan (UIAD) through the Mathematic Education Student Association (HIMAPRISMA) that collaborated with the Mathematic Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FTIK) held an O-Math, Mathematics Olympiad, which was attended by various high schools  in Sinjai. The activity, which was held on Wednesday-Thursday (1-2/03), raised the theme “Mathematical Genius in Panrita Kitta”.

According to the Chairman of Himaprisma, Yusriman Yahya, the activity aimed to invite Sinjai students to increase their interest in learning math. “Seeing the conditions of minimum interest in learning mathematics while various fields require mathematics, we organize this Mathematics Olympiad in Sinjai as a competition to increase interest in mathematics and at the same time to socialize the Mathematics Education Study Program on campus,” he said.

Previously, the O-Math activity was opened by the Head of the Mathematics Education Study Program, Dr. Syarifuddin, M.Pd. by expressing the intention to organize the annual Mathematics Olympiad. “In the future, we can carry out the Mathematics Olympiad again, and not only for senior high school, but also junior high school with larger numbers of participants. Congratulations to the winners, but all of the participants are actually champions. So before competing, you have actually become a champion,” he said.

The closing ceremony of O-Math was held at the H.M. Amir Said Auditorium, UIAD Sinjai by announcing the winners. The 1st place was achieved by MAN 2 Sinjai, while MA Darussalam Pattallassang in the 2nd place and MA Nurul Jibal Kondo in the 3rd place. From the total of 18 participants with 9 teams from 9 schools. Also attended at this ceremony were Mathematics Education Study Program lecturers and representatives of Mathematics Teachers from each school team.
