UM Gresik Agrotechnology Students Held Bakti Tani Program

The Student Association of Agrotechnology UM Gresik conducted Bakti Tani (Farming Service) program on Saturday (05/03). By the theme “Environmentally Aware, Nature Conservation”, the program was held for 2 days located in Babatan, Balongpanggang, Gresik. It started with inviting children to sow ornamental plants and conduct a drawing competition. Mrs. Yayuk, the Babatan Kindergarten headmaster highly appreciated the program.

“The drawing competition is highly advantageous in their early childhood. It can train and flex their fingers in a drawing. While planting an ornamental plant in the schoolyard can educate the children about environmental awareness and nature conservation,” said the headmaster on the UM Gresik site.

The procession growing the longan seeds and socializing cavendish banana cultivation was conducted on Monday (07/03) in Babatan village. The secretary of Babatan village, Tisno, explained that the farmers need knowledge and counseling. “I am, personally, so grateful by this Agrotechnology students’ program. It is so helpful in the agricultural sector in Babatan. The participants can plant the longan seeds, water the plants, and nurture them until they can produce abundantly,” said Tisno. Babatan village head, Toni Istiawan, also expected UMG could support other community education programs.

Syadat, Bakti Tani committee, mentioned that this program aimed to resolve the cultivating technique of cavendish banana. Afterward, Yoga, the Chairman of the Agrotechnology student association, appreciated all parties supported this program.
