Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) collaborated with the Kejapanan village government conducted a Reading and Watching Movie program in Kejapanan village ‘Kejapanan Membaca dan Nonton Film’ (Kancanofi) on Thursday (25/03). Kancanofi program was started with the English Young Learner (EYL) program for children in the afternoon which continued by watching ‘Dua Ulama’ film in the evening.
The Coordinator of the UMM Rector assistant, Prof Dr Syujono, MKes , that greeted Kejapanan people in the Zoom Meeting, mentioned the literacy condition of the communities is a common concern. However, in the Covid-19 pandemic, it should be improved.
“The literacy program should keep ongoing and could not be stopped during the pandemic. Also, the activities of watching movie could be an important part of literacy movement,” said the Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang.
The Village Head of Kejapanan, Randi Saputra, highlighted the first program in 2021. He expected it would improve the literacy and knowledge of Kejapanan children. “I hope that this program became a trauma healing process for the children who were left behind by their families or neighbors who conducted self-isolation as they confirmed as the Covid-19 patients,” said the Alumni of Teaching and Education Faculty (FKIP UMM.
